For many, many years I have struggled with finding a thermometer that is both quick and accurate, trying lots of different kinds and never being happy with them. Then two years ago I started seeing ads on facebook for the Kinsa thermometer. On Christmas Day, 2015 my son came down with a stomach bug and fever, and my thermometer went kaput, so I ordered this one. After using it for the first time, I realized I would never go back! Here are the things I especially like about it: 1. I can create different profiles for all my family members There are 5 members in my family, and I have a created a profile for each of them. That way I don't have to either keep track of it all on a piece of paper, or have several notes on my phone for each person. 2. I can keep track of when and how much medicine was given. I love that I don't have to try to think about or remember when I gave medicine last, which is very handy in the middle of the after being woken up many times by multiple sickos. I can also set a reminder to give the next dosage, which is very handy. 3. The quick read/bubble popping The quick care is so fast, that my kids have no problem keeping it in their mouths while it's running, even when they have a stuffy nose. Another nice this is if the child is wiggly, the thermometer takes longer to run, so they have added a fun bubble popping activity while the temp is being taken. These bubbles rise up the screen and the kids can tap them to pop them, which holds their attention and keep them still. I even like to do it when I'm sick! 4. It works over bluetooth, so I don't have to plug it into my phone. The quick care is my second type of Kinsa thermometer. I initially purchased the smart stick, which was great and worked well, but when the iPhone went to no plug in port, it made it difficult to use. I was also not able to check a temperature if my phone was plugged in, and it didn't have a screen to see what the temp was. The new quick care is so much nicer! It takes care of all of those issues, plus some! 5. The customer service is prompt and friendly and truly has the people at the heart of what they do. The customer service gives you a phone number to text with any problems or questions, and the man I have been texting with is very helpful and listens to my opinions of the thermometer and the app. There have been several things I've mentioned to him and he's sent them off to the programers. The service is prompt and and very helpful. 6. The Fluency program The fluency program is for schools. They send a thermometer to every family and staff member who signs up for it, and you can view anonymous information about illness that's going around the school. That way I can know how to treat my child if strep or the flu is going around. 7. The price of this is very reasonable $20 is more than reasonable for a thermometer that does more than take a temperature! I have suggested this thermometer to all my mama friends, and I will continue to use it. Do yourself a favor and buy this!

PEDIATRICIAN RECOMMENDATIONS: - NEVER BUY TYMPANIC, FOREHEAD, TEMPORAL ARTERY, etc. thermometers (Even Kinsa's!). They can be 3 degrees off. - ALWAYS BUY ORAL/RECTAL thermometers for accuracy. BUY THIS ONE. It's awesome. Some Chinese off-brands may not be accurate. - You can take underarm temps for a "ballpark" number, but for an accurate number, take rectal for kids under 3, oral over 3 I am a pediatrician, and I just had my first child. He developed a fever but I didn't know how high. I almost bought a $260-300+ Welch-Allyn SureTemp Plus 692 (it's what I use at my office), but with an infant, I would mostly take rectal temps. I knew the SureTemp takes 4-6 second oral readings, but I did NOT know rectal readings took 10 seconds! So I decided to try this for LESS than 1/10th the price. And am I glad I did!!! I just received my Kinsa QuickCare Smart Digital Thermometer yesterday (a bit late, my son's fever had passed), and I am VERY impressed. Setup is VERY EASY considering there's an app to set up rather than simply taking temps. The app recognized the thermometer right away, sync'ed super fast. Readings happen VERY FAST. It starts showing temperature readings within 1 second, though it takes a few seconds to get a final reading. It feels like 3-4 seconds. The Kinsa QuickCare feels solid and the tip is surprisingly flexible. The silicone rubber shell feels like quality, not plasticky. The app is also very intuitive, allowing you to keep a record of temps taken as well as other symptoms, and allows multiple profiles so you can keep straight who started with what symptom when. It also offers the ability to move temp readings from one profile to another (in case you forgot to switch profiles before taking the next temperature). The app is handy for keeping track of common cold and stomach bug symptoms. Your pediatrician will be so impressed you know EXACTLY when your child's cough and fever started, when it stopped, etc! I know I would! FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS: - DON'T cheap out and buy the $8 Chinese off-brand; they may not be accurate and will crap out on you quickly. Buy this one! - DON'T spend more on "instant read" tympanic, temporal artery, and forehead thermometers; you will get LESS ACCURATE readings

True story. I was traveling over the weekend and came home to an Amazon package, right there I was happy. The package contained the NEW Kinsa Quick Care Smart Thermometer, yay. So, I go pick-up my kids from day camp and my little guy says he has a headache and his eyes look glassy. Uth Oh. The moment we get in the house I rip open the package, turn on the thermometer with the press of a button, and connect to the app. 100.9 Boom! Fever results in seconds. Data is sent directly to my phone and stored on the Kinsa app. I love the new thermometer and I was so happy to have exacty when I needed it. I fully recommend this product. I will probably buy one and send it to my mom so that she has it at her house for when she babysits my littles.

I'm fairly picky about medical supplies, even thermometers. I'm an ICU nurse, and I often find myself wishing I had the good hospital supplies that I have at work at home. Now I find myself wishing that we had Kinsa in the hospital. One really frustrating thing for me about taking someone's temp is how long it takes. This thermometer is fast and has proven to be very accurate. I was checking it against my old one, same readings, just faster. The app is easy to use and my kids love it. This flu season has been scary to say the least and an accurate quick temp is important. Even diagnosing is easier with this thermometer, flu vs just a cold, when you can save all of your other symptoms in seconds. I would recommend this thermometer to all of my friends and co-workers.

I bought this little guy because some nasty colds have been going around my office and I wanted to be able to track any symptoms and my temperature in case I couldn't escape cold season unscathed. I have used other Kinsa smart thermometers in the past but I have to say this one is my favorite [I left my last one at my parents house when I moved out]! It is so easy to use, like all their products. I love that once you download the Kinsa app and turn on the thermometer it automatically connects the two. You don't have to plug anything in or wait, it will sync right up for you. I love that it comes with a cute little pouch to store it in too. I don't have any kids but I am a sucker for adorable things like the fact that once it reads your temperature it has a certain smiley or not so smiley face attached to the range of degrees. Green smiley if you have a normal temp, yellow neutral face if it's not great but decent and red sad face if you definitely have a fever. It's not important but a very cute detail.

I ordered this thermometer due to being tired of the forehead and ear thermometers not being accurate. Unfortunately I wound up getting sick a couple weeks after buying this so I was able to test it out quite a bit. It is easy to use and very quick. Other oral thermometers take a long time to get a reading but this one is literally just a few seconds. I like the app on the phone to record the readings, although you can still take your temperature without using the app if you prefer. The thermometer material is kind of rubber/stretchy so it appears safe for children because it doesn’t seem like it would break if bitten (compared to the old glass thermometers). Highly recommend.

Spent 37 days in the NICU and got used to using their thermometer (Welch-Allyn SureTemp). Apparently babies hate having their temperature taken. The hospital brand would take the temp in 6 seconds. This one takes it in 8 and its 200 bucks cheaper. Of course I compared the accuracy between the two and they are within 1/100th of a degree.

I first heard about Kinsa on the Today show and thought it might be nice to use for my granddaughter with this nasty flu going around. The thermometer was very easy to connect to my phone, even for someone like me who isn't so tech-friendly. I was able to set up a profile for my granddaughter using their free app and take her temperature in a couple minutes. She likes to watch the bubbles that pop up on the screen while its taking her temperature. I like that its easy for me to see immediately if she's got a fever or not. I also like that the app gives guidance on which medications to use to treat her fever that's based on her age. My only critique is that I wish it allowed you to have multiple accounts. My wife and I watch our granddaughter almost daily, and it would be nice if my daughter could login to the app and see the information and temperatures we entered as well. I already contacted their support team about this and it sounds like its something they're working on. Overall great product, would recommend to anyone with kids or who watches their grandkids.

We received the Kinsa QuickCare Smart Digital Thermometer last week after our other thermometers stopped providing us with a consistent (and realistic) temperatures. The Kinsa QuickCare Smart Digital Thermometer has been so much easier to get a consistent reading of my kids temperatures. The App is simple and connected immediately with the thermometer. My kids didn't mind having the thermometer in their mouth because it's pliable and light. They also like popping the bubbles on my phone while their temperature is being taken. For me, as the mom, being able to see the history of the temperatures taken for family members is also nice, especially when tracking the progression of an illness. In the world of overwhelming options of smart devices, this thermometer integrates seamlessly with how you'd expect information to be presented. We've been impressed!

I purchased this to track my basal body temperature, not realizing that you apparently have to have a specific BBT thermometer? Whether that's true or not, I've still been using it to track my temperature in the morning. This thermometer is very easy to use, very easy to read, and I like how it connects to the app to give you suggestions in the event you are feeling ill. You don't have to open the app just to take a temperature, which is great because it's already difficult enough to take my temperature when I'm half asleep. Anyways, I'm not sure how well it works for tracking BBT, but as a household thermometer this is perfect.
