First, all of the basic stuff: I love the generous spacing of the outlets. I can easily fit any kind of plug without covering up the other outlets. Having the reset switch on the side, under the overhang is a godsend - with previous surge protectors, my cat would always walk over the switch and shut everything off. This solves that problem. The power cable being on a swivel is great, too, so you never have to worry about twisting it into awkward positions. You can tell that APC put a lot of though into the design of this thing. But here's the important part: I'm in a spot where lightning frequently strikes. Shortly after I bought this, my house got a direct hit by lightning which fried two of my wall outlets, including the one this was plugged into. Everything that was plugged into this surge protector was fine and is still working. My washing machine, cable modem, and TV that was in another room were not so lucky. I'll definitely be buying more of these.

Excellent surge protector at a economical price when you factor the production it gives you, the outlet capacity and fit and finish. Definitely does a better job than others in regards to the previous statement, I was actually able to repurpose another surge protector but there's a debate about whether I'd want to replace it with another APC. I highly recommend this device for its feature set and build quality, though I don't know why Amazon asks to rate it for traveling (who would take a 12 outlet surge protector on vacation?) or whatever they think versatility is - I don't think Macgyver can do a whole lot with a APC 12-Outlet Surge Protector Power Strip besides plug stuff in and neither could anyone else.

Just got the surge protector mounted to the wall behind and below my entertainment center. The nice green glow tells me all is well and my TV and electronics are protected. Bought it based on a "best surge protector" Google search. I like that it will turn off once the protection is gone so I know not to keep trying to use it and to use the lifetime warranty if the need arises. Thanks APC. P.S. Don't forget to register it on the APC website!

There's no way to know how well a surge suppressor works until you need it. Hopefully you never need to find out. This one has one good feature that makes it better than most: it will alert you if it's no longer protecting because of a surge, or simply old age. That's right, surge suppressors don't last forever, but with most you never know if it's still protecting or not.

just received two of these surge protectors and installed on two desktops in separate rooms. Very pleased with quality of this product. spacing of outlets is well thought out to allow various size power adapters to fit. I liked the green lights on the side of the unit that illuminates the word PROTECTED to let you know it's working. The two USB connectors lets me charge Iphone, Ipad, etc. all from the area of my desk, great feature. Would definitely recommend this product over some of the cheaper surge protectors, when it comes to protecting your expensive PC.s a few dollars more is well worth it.

So far, so good. Haven't been hit by lightning yet but I finally bought 3 of these after lightning fried electronics in my house twice. The setup is very usable with how it is arranged. Fairly industry standard, but I paid attention to the large/small outlet layout of this power strip. I like the green light, I can see it glow behind the furniture and know every thing is in good shape.

Took This right out of the box and got to work on my ivy of cables dangling from the tv and other sources. Had an 8 outlet power strip which was old and probably little if any surge protection. Took 30 minutes to untangle all power cords but this sturdy box unit looked beautiful to what I was using. I hooked everything up, the green light came on which also acts as a warning to unsafe wiring in the house from what I understand. Our house is 1953, so it’s good to know everything is ok. I used 9 of the 12 outlet ports with plenty of room for 3 more. I don’t have huge bulky adapters to be concerned about. I did remove an extension cord as it says do not use one with this power strip so I took their warning, it freed up 10 feet of useless cable right there. The 6’ cord is adequate for my needs I would like to have had 8 but not a big issue. The green light everyone complains about also not a bother as the strip is under a coffee table and you can turn the light away from your face, as I turned it towards a speaker, this should not even be a complaint by people but they sure fins anything to gripe about. I have not tested the 2 USB ports to power my iPad or phone either so I can’t say much about how fast it charges. I feel better already as far as safety during a surge now. Won’t lose my stereo, tv and other equipment if and when it happens. House fires are my biggest worry and I don’t feel I have anything to worry about with this big boy. I like that it lays flat and isn’t a tower. For $32 this is a good deal. It was between this and the echogear, but went with the higher Joules rating, as I have a lot of equipment hooked up to it. I am satisfied with the product, simple set up and safety slides to close the outlets you don’t fill, but 12 is a good amount on one strip, should satisfy most normal peoples needs. I recommend buying one. Will update if I run into any issues.

I'm replacing a 12 year old APC SurgeArrest Professional device. The green light said I was still protected; however, a cousin lost his house due to an aged surge protector, brand unknown. I'm sure what I have used for 12 years is fine and dandy, but I was spooked and wanted to make SURE my computer and associated paraphernalia were protected in the best way possible. Regardless of the green light, I'm not sure what to do with my 12 year old surge protector. The new device was recommend by TechHive and various other articles I read. I'm good to go!

These seem to be the best ones we’ve tried. Pricey but they seem to be worth it. Configuration is really nice. We’ve not had any kind of power surge to really test them out. I really like that I can plug in my computer and all my other desk/office things to the one strip and then flick just the one toggle to shut it all off

Great surge protector and multi plug power strip. APC is one of my favorites, I work managing an IT center at a university, and I bought one of these for every computer I set up! They have always worked great never lost anything plugged into one of these. I love usb charging ports in this outlet help keep pad and phones charged.
