Works great at reducing waste!

I bought this for my pet finches to help keep them from trying to lay eggs in their food dish. This has worked well for that as well as helped reduce seed waste. The easy to fill hopper is easy to access from outside the cage. The removable hull catcher helps reduce the amount of mess and is quick and simple to empty each day. The size is perfect for my cage and holds several days worth of feed.

No instructions... but... WOW!!

Was curious that there wasn't any packing info on how to set it up when it came. I figured it out by coming back here and problem solving but some pictures or some words would have been helpful. That being said... I love this! My parakeets eat from it. I clean the empty seeds each day but it’s so much cleaner because it’s not all over the cage. Highly recommend this!!!! Easy to fill too since it’s on the outside of the cage.

really cuts down on seed mess!

I love these. It prevents the hull mess on the bottom of the cage---you know , the whirlwind of hulls flying when birdie flaps and exercises her wings!! If you do not empty the bottom catch-container, it will likely spill some out when you try to empty it. Just don't let it get too full and you'll be OK. I do like them. Small birds do fine with them.

Significant mess reduction!

This is a game change. I've had such a mess until purchasing this. i like that it locks in nicely to my cage. The mess has been reduced significantly - there's virtually no mess anymore beyond the feathers I have to deal with. I also find that by mounting it outside the cage it makes for much easier access to refill. Great product! Would definitely purchase it again if needed.

Wish I could give more than five stars on this product. I'm very pleased with how this works. The budgies cage is so much cleaner, and less food is wasted. Our little male budgie likes throwing food when he's eating. I think he's looking for the choice bits while he's feeding mom and the chicks. I thought the tray would be filled with mostly seed, but it appears that it's probably 90% or more husk. There is a feeding trough at the back, and a small tray in front of that that the loose stuff falls into. All the chaff falls into the removable tray at the bottom. Easy to remove and dump once or twice a day.

Works great. I can't use on the the slots for food dish on my prevue cage...

I really like this product. The only criticism I have is I had to sit it on the floor of the cage. It can not be mounted as intended on a larger cage like a prevue. I had to train my cockatiel to use the feeder by placing millet on the perch area. After a few attempts he figured out how to use the feeder. Great value for the price and definitely cuts down on the mess...

Great product

Super helpful for feeding my cage full of finches. They figured it out really quickly. The trough for the seeds is narrow and placed in the back, so the hulls don't fall on the uneaten seeds. The feeder does collect most, but not all the hulls, but the real value is being able to put lots of seed out for the birds and not having the seeds buried under the hulls. This is a great product.

Happy with this purchase

This has definitely help cut down on the mess and there is a lot less seed being wasted. It is amazing to see how many empty hulls are in the catch tray and realize how much food I was probably throwing out as well. It took my budgies a couple days to start using it, but have taken to it well. I will note - this may not work well with larger seed, as other reviewers have mentioned. Parakeet seed just goes through the opening. Anything larger may not work so well, but I have not personally tried anything larger. I would purchase this item again.

Does the job

Really dispenses automatically even though it looks like it doesn’t. Wat worries at firstly but as long as it’s full to the top gravity will do the rest. Just make sure it’s not completely almost to the bottom because the birds can’t reach through the barrier inside. Helps maintain seeds. WARNING: the cage must have a wire base that holds the food. If the base is plastic and thick then it won’t fit the cage!
