Very good electric bass
The electric bass came in perfect condition. I was worried about transportation, since he made an extensive tour of the United States until arriving in Miami, and then transporting it to the city of Bogotá, in Colombia. However, I arrive in perfect condition. I had the opportunity to try the electric bass and it sounds very good. Now the next step is to adjust it (it's normal) after the trip, I'll change strings and start enjoying it. Many thanks to GearTree

Very good bass guitar
I'll admit, I'm not enough of an expert to give this guitar the review it deserved. However, I have friends who are. We have a friend who has a regular gig at a local restaurant, and recently a bass player has started playing with him. This guy has played bass guitar for 25 years professionally, so I took the guitar over there tonight for his opinion. He looked it over during their first break, turned the guitar over, gave it a close visual inspection, and liked what he saw. He not only agreed to use it for the rest of the evening, but was anxious to try it out. My wife and I felt that we could hear better detail from this guitar than the one he'd been using earlier. After the gig, he told us that it was easy to play with a great, smooth sound. He also liked it better than the bass guitar he started out with, which turns out to be a $1000 Spector. When I told my friend and the bass player this is a roughly $350 retail product, they were surprised. They expected it to be much more expensive.

Just as good as my "real" stingray
I play in a band every weekend and have for 8 years. I have owned some really nice basses and even have made my own. I have been playing bass for 20 years. Just so everyone understands my frame of reference for my comments. I played one of these sub series basses in a local shop by me and could not believe how good it was. They only had a display model so I came home and ordered the mint green version from amazon. This bass sounds and feels as good as my "real" stingray that cost over $1000 more. Which makes me sick to think about but hey that is life. Comments about setup. Any bass you buy will need a setup... ANY. I setup the bridge to where I like it then adjusted the truss rod and intonation and put a new set of strings on it. The bass plays fast and smooth and I love it. Anyone who thinks a bass is going to get shipped with a perfect setup is lying to themselves. My $1500 StingRay had fret buzz when I got it because it went from a warm climate to a cold climate in shipping... that is just what wood does folks. The price of this bass does not reflect what you get. And if you want that Music Man sound then look no further. Could not be happier with this purchase.

Pleasantly surprised!
I wanted to try a five string bass without spending a lot of money and ended up getting a darn good guitar for under $350

Excellent quality for the price.
The overall quality and sound of this bass surpassed my expectations for the price. I usually have to do my own setup when I buy a new bass or guitar, but this StingRay 5 was almost perfect right out of the box. The only thing that I had to do was lower the pickup height, because it was clipping the onboard preamp when I played it with a pick. Actually, I prefer how it sounds when I take out the battery and use my favorite overdrive pedal as a preamp, instead.

Nice, affordable 5-string bass
Always wanted a 5-string bass to explore, but didn't want to invest a huge mount of money, as I am more than happy with the guitars I already have. Just got the SUB Ray 5 and am very pleased. Arrived quickly and efficiently from Sam Ash, and above all, in good shape. I was a little surprised that there was neither a manual nor even a product registration; however, you can get most of the information you might need to know online. Just plug and play.

Change the strings..
Well when I received it, it came in a box in a box... The second box that it was in was busted it half and was all taped up. I was afraid of what the guitar looked like. It almost felt like the neck was broken because it was bouncing around in the box.. Then when I opened it I was amazed it wasn't broke..then took the wrapping off and played it.. It was all set up and ready to go.. Just a little out of tune.. It's a beautiful piece work.. I was amazed.. I have small hands..the neck is fast and comfortable for me.. Well worth 300 bucks..

For the price you are getting a great playing, looking, and sounding bass
The Sterling by Music Man Stingray Ray4 Bass Guitar may be the import line of Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray basses, but don’t let that fool you–this bass guitar can provide solid rhythms and you’ll fit right in with most any style band in looks and sound. The Ray4 is a 4-string bass with the memorable and classic StingRay design. I have the bass in black, with black teardrop pick guard, basswood body, hard maple neck, and hard maple and jatoba fretboard. The Ray4 comes with one low noise hum bucking Sterling-by-Music-Man-designed ceramic pickup, and the three metal knobs control volume and high/low boost/cut with an active preamp circuit (9V battery included). The hard maple and jatoba fretboard with dot fret markers and 21 medium frets is clean and attractive. The neck has a satin finish and I felt no fret sprout. In fact, the entire fit and finish of the guitar spot on. The neck width is 1.5” (38mm) at the nut. The neck radius is 9.5” (24cm) and the scale length is 34” (86.4cm). Included strings are .45-1.05. The bass arrived in a narrow box wrapped in a plastic bag with cardboard supports. The box contained just the bass guitar–no manuals, cables, gig bag, or other accessories. Despite the minimal packaging, the guitar was in perfect shape–no nicks, cracks, or dings. The setup was low and perfect, and with just a minor tuning the bass was ready to play. The guitar weighs about 8.9 pounds, with the weight surprisingly well distributed. Note that the neck is attached with six bolts. These basses are made in Indonesia, though the setup and final inspection are done in the USA–I’ve toured the factory of another famous brand that does this and that final USA setup and inspection really improves the quality of the instrument that makes it to the end user. The open gear tuners are all metal and work well, as with all the metal hardware. The active preamp gives a lot of tone possibilities. All in all, for the price you are getting a great playing, looking, and sounding bass. After reviewing the Sterling by Music Man Stingray Ray4 Bass Guitar, I would not hesitate to buy another Sterling by Music Man instrument.
