It works great, heats up fast and cooks food evenly.

I could not wait to write this review for this hot plate. I was in need of one, so I came to amazon to search, and read a ton of reviews about a bunch of hot plates. My main concern after researching was that a hot plate was not really going to do the job for actual 'cooking' but more for 'warming things up'. So since the expensive ones were saying the same thing that I was assuming, I ordered this one because of the price, $17.00 for a double burner seemed crazy cheap. So I ordered it, and 2 days later it came, and I used it immediately, expecting a real let down. All I can say is I am shocked, in a good way. This hotplate gets as hot, and as fast, as my electric stove. I made an omelet super fast, I boiled water, cooked chicken, and many other things, just like on my stove. I'm not sure why there were a few reviews that said it wouldn't boil water, or that it took forever to heat up, I just don't get it. Was it plugged in and turned on?This heats up immediately, and boils water fast. What a steal.

Love it, exactly as described

This was a lot larger than I expected. So the benefit of that is that I can put two full sized stockpots on it. However, the downside is that it's not "easily portable" as the title implies. It's not bad, mind you, just large and will take up some trunk space. It's pretty slim, though. I am able to use this burner for cooking demonstrations at retirement homes and for extra stovetop space for simmering large pots of soup or side dishes when the stove is occupied like on Thanksgiving. I can also use it to cook outdoors for barbeques, pot lucks, or for when I don't want to heat up my kitchen and I can boil water out on my deck for pasta, crab/lobster dinners, or deep-frying turkey.

It is what it is. That being said I love this little double burner for my family. I tested it and found that both burners heated well. It is not going to set any speed records but it will boil eventually and thicker items will get hot. I got this to use with our generator as we live in an area with frequent hurricanes. I love that I can hook this to my generator and have hot meals in an emergency with no fuss. This in no way should be construed as a full range cooker, but for the price point and portability, you cannot beat it. I think it is great. Another point is that it is not heavy so it fits in our emergency box.

I got this mainly for use during the holidays for extra cooking space. No matter what, there never seems to be enough burners or ovens, even though I do already use 2 of the 3 pot slow cookers as well. I've used this electric burner a few times now to try it out in the meanwhile and it's worked out fine. I love that it is so slim and compact, so it is easy to store. I have way too small appliances and not enough storage space. Even in the box, it is slim in height and width so it can fit in a drawer or cupboard without taking up much space at all. It heats up fine and evenly. One thing the instruction book does say is to use pots and pans that are a smaller size than the coil. Well, that'd be pretty small and I've used bigger ones, same as I do on my regular electric stove, with no problems. It heats up quickly and the body of the unit does get hot, too, so keep that in mind as well. It is light weight, so it is easy to move around and handle, but also leads to the whole unit getting hot pretty quickly. Not a bad little burner though. I dont have any complaints as of yet.

I absolutely love this!!!! I live in the country where our electricity likes to go out at the first drop of rain, and while we have a generator it's not hooked up to the house, and extension cables are used. With this beautiful small two burner MegaChef electric range I am able to still cook with out any trouble! When I first used this I was cooking a feast for my family, and remembered I had it in the back as I ran out of cooking space. I plugged this up, and we were ready to go in minutes! The dual range is small, and while the picture shows black I did receive a white one, which was no big deal for me at all. It does feel cheap, as it's so light and small, and I will admit the knobs and the feel of the range itself does seem fragile, but the actual coils are tight, and nice on it. And I've had no issues cooking on it at all! There are two knobs and on each one it goes to a number five heat setting at the highest and one at the lowest. I had it on five and boiled water for my foods within just a few minutes! We've also taken this camping, and because it's so light it's super easy to bring with us anywhere! I totally love it, and now my mother wants one too!

This is such a versatile appliance. My daughter wants it for her camper, but I want it for cooking outside when frying "smelly" food, such as fried chicken or fish. I make my own hummingbird nectar (4 parts water to 1 part natural sugar), and this heats the mixture to boiling without a problem. It's just like the coil burners on an old fashioned electric stove except it has just two burners that are portable. There are dial temperature controls for each coil and two small cooking pots or pans will fit at the same time. Outside, I just put the appliance on our stone decking, but inside I use a heatproof mat to protect my counters. I think it's great quality and should last a long time.

We took this burner on our recent road trip and we have been using it on the go without any problems. We have an outlet in our car and we can cook while out and about. This burner has coils that heat up fast, so far they have heated up evenly and it has come very handy when we don't feel like eating out. It is very light and slim, so you can take it everywhere and store easily. Regulating the temperature is done with the knob on the panel, so using it is pretty straightforward, although it is mostly for light to moderate cooking I"m not sure how it would withstand some heavy duty pans. Overall this is a great addition to our road trip and camping gear.

Works like it's suppose to
