5’9” - 180 - Medium
I debated between Medium and Large for a long time amd it was the details in reviews people provides regarding their physical size vice the jacket they bought and how it fit that helped me make my final decision. So, I decided to pay it forward by listing my size and the jacket I bought. I’m 5’9” and 180. Im the typical “boxer build”. Athletic build, top heavy. 42” shoulders amd 32” waiste. These measurement put me between the medium and large chart. So, I read the reviews and went w/ a medium because I wanted a semi tight fitting jacket that wasn’t too long or large in the waste. My shoulders arent congruent to my height, so when I buy Large sizes, they are usually kinda long. The jacket fit snug with the liner installed, but I bought this to wear during the really hot months so the liner isn’t needed. Actuallt found it kinda strange that a mesh jacket would have an optional liner. But, it will probably be nice on ana occasion considering the temp in the spring and fall can swing 40 degrees in my area. With the liner removed it fit great. Snug but not restricting. I used the waiste straps to adjust the waiste fit. For my size, the jacket fit like a spirt bike jacket and will not flap in the wind at interstate speeds, which is another reason I went with a medium. Anytime im on the interstae wearing a jacket that is even slightly loose, the flapping drives me crazy. Padding in the arms and back are nice but not what I would consider to be “armored” protection. Definitely not hardened plastic or anything like that but decent. The airflow is amazing and just what I hoped for. Breathes well in stand still traffic also, don’t find myself instantly soaking my shirt at every stop light. I went with white and black to try to being temp down a bit that way as well. Hope this helps someone!

New year, New gear
There are many jackets and brands out there but this one sets a new standard for perfect. The style fits perfect for any type of riding style, anything from sport to cruiser to dual sport. If your like me you tend to take quite a few things with you when you ride such as cell phone extra keys Tylenol headphones or even a charger. If you do you can leave the extra carry bags at home this jacket has many pockets on it big and small for all those little things you tend to carry. No need to figure out how to run your headphone cord this jacket comes with a hole for running the cord from the pocket through the jacket and then to your helmet of course this is for those who don't use the Bluetooth. The armor that comes inside the jacket to me it seems plenty tough it is upgradable if you want but like I said the armor in the shoulders, elbows, and back is more than enough for the unexpected. Even though this is a mesh jacket it comes with a really good thermal liner in it I've ridden in cool and cold weather and it will keep you warm to say the least, not to say that you won't get cold by just throwing on a T-shirt and then the jacket with the liner still in it. If you ride in cold weather (such as temps under 32 F.) I would put on a thermal shirt under your regular shirt. No need to worry bout cold air seeping up the arms while riding, the liner has elastic at the ends of the sleeves to keep it tight on the wrist. The fit of the jacket is true to its measurements so when you go to order be sure to check the measurements of the category of the size such a small medium and large. Buying a jacket is an investment in your protection so if you're looking for that five star brand jacket but only looking to spend about a three star price, look no further this is it. Viking Cycle has out done themselves by bringing style, comfort and safety together into one jacket not to just make profits but create a loyalty customer base.

Good fit, budget friendly, nice choice
Normally I buy tall sizes as I’m about 6’3” and 230-240 these days, but with no tall option, I went with XXL. Body is a little larger around then I needed, but the sleeves fit perfectly for both length and around my arms. Generally with forearm guards or the Bilt Blaze jacket for example, they are way too tight in the forearm, upper arm, and shoulder, but this is perfect. Little baggy around the middle torso, but the waste Velcro straps sucks it in nicely. Wish it was a tad longer in the torso as it’s sits above my belt line, kind of like the pictures of the guy in the ad. I ride a street converted DRZ everyday, so I’m upright generally, and the extra length would still be nice. If I rode a street bike, I’d have some serious plumbers crack going on. Mesh is nice, but like I saw other reviewers say, I wish it didn’t have the giant tablet pocket on the right side directly in front. It already has a lining behind the mesh that blocks airflow all over the jacket, and that tablet pocket is a breeze killer. Might cut it out, but it’s nicely sewn in, and would be a shame to ruin it. Not sure what kind of person carries their laptop in their jacket, but you could probably carry a full-size squirtgun in there if that’s your thing. Pockets are great, and it’s got far more than any other jacket or vest I own. The zip in quilted lining is a bit thin, but this is a mesh jacket, so it just helps prolong its life into early cold season. Beyond that, you’re going to need something thicker anyway. Could easily be all season if you’re in CA or Florida where it’s hot 90% of the year.

A Budget Jacket with High End Performance
Viking Cycle Ironside Jacket. For 60 dollars this jacket does what it is supposed to and more. As a guy who is 6’3” and 350+ the 3XL fit me surprisingly well. The only thing that I have an issue with, and not a big one mind you, are that the sleeves are a little short. However, I do have some long arms so like I said its not that big of a deal in my book. Now that that is out of the way lets talk about the all the positives of this jacket and there are more than a few. First, lets start with the fit, it fits perfectly as a big guy I was pleasantly surprised to find that the jacket went all the way to my waist. The fit is tight enough to not let the provided armor move around, but not too tight to where you can’t breathe. I like that there are not only adjustments on the waist but also on the sleeves (2 button snaps on each). Second, the armor which is removable, is positioned perfectly especially in the elbows. There is armor in the back shoulders, and elbows. My favorite thing about the armor is the elbows because it extends from the like an inch or two above the elbow to an inch or two below the elbow instead of just having a pad on the middle of the elbow. Third, the number of pockets on this jacket as amazing. There are 2 on the outer chest and 2 outer hand pockets. There are at least 5 pockets on the inside, and I don’t think that I have found them all yet. One pocket that I think is awesome is the knife pocket. I think that having the ability to keep that protection close is a definite plus. For the riders that use earbuds there is a spot for those as well to stop the cord from getting tangled up or in the way. This is one awesome jacket if you are just starting riding or a veteran rider who doesn’t want to spend half their paycheck on a jacket then this is the one. If I had known about this jacket before I bought my first jacket, that 130-dollar jacket would not have been bought. I have ridden in as low as 45 degrees and still been comfortable and I know when summer comes around the mesh design will keep me protected and cool. I highly recommend this jacket to anybody for any season.

Don't double think it.
This jacket is amazing for the price the functionality and the padding of it comes neck to neck with the "popular" brands. Sleeves are adjustable from the wrists all the way up to the top of your arm with sizeable button straps if you have bigger or smaller arms . The waist is aslo adjustable to different waist sizes which is nice if you tend to lose and gain weight like myself . The thing is loaded with pockets on the outside and inside that can fit many things like keys, wallet,GPS,conceled weapon and even your paperwork in the water resistant pocket which it has I think about 3 lined pockets. It also has a liner for when it gets in those colder tempatures which helps out a lot although it's very thick as is it's very bretheable with the outer mesh. I've had this jacket for a 2 months and I love this thing.

Quality manufacturing
Bought this jacket to use in the south of Spain where I live. The main thing I wanted was ventilation with body armour to give a degree of protection. The jacket after my initial trips works well but I could not understand the iPad pocket which drastically reduced the airflow through the jacket. So I carefully removed the pocket and what a difference to the airflow. The jacket has more pockets than I have stuff to carry around and again a few less would again increase the airflow but that’s a personal thing and some people like the convenience of lots of pockets. The jacket fits well and the armour is very well placed and is comfortable. The inner liner will be of use in the winter out here and waterproofing is not a concern as we get 320 days of sunshine. All in all a well manufactured jacket at a good price.

Great mesh jacket for the heat
My current mesh jacket is about 5 years old and starting to look a bit unpresentable, so I ordered this jacket in the 2XL size according the size guide and it fits well, very well actually. Good room but not blousy or too loose with or without the liner. The sleeves are nicely adjustable with 2 adjustment tabs, each with 3 setting snaps and a large patch of strong Velcro closure at the wrists. The removeable shoulder and elbow armor fits well and is not bulky at all, fitting close to the body and easily adjustable with those tabs. There is a removeable back pad but rather some slightly odd looking pads sewn into the back of the jacket which are not removeable. Branding is limited to a silicone-like 3-D logo at the center of the shoulders and another on the upper right arm with an embroidered logo on the back at the waist, none appear to be reflective. All the zippers are high quality YKK pieces with glove friendly pulls. There are 2 front chest pockets & 2 lower hand pockets, all fairly generously sized. The warm full sleeve quilted liner is easily removeable, installing with a perimeter zipper, a couple elastic cords in each sleeve & a little Velcro in the back to help keep it in place. The liner has one pocket that is about 6” square & easily holds my iPhone 7. The liner also works well when just slipped on under the jacket for a cool morning or unexpected cold spot, then taken off once it warms up. Inside the jacket on the left side is a zippered pocket which holds my iPhone 7, a pocket for your phone or iPod (not large enough for my iPhone 7 in an X-Doria shell case) and another at the top for your earbuds. There is a matching set on the right side and the inside of the collar has a flap which opens to hold the cord for the earbuds along with a couple cable management loops at the shoulders. Once routed, pop your earbuds out and tuck them into the top pocket on each side, nice and neat. Don the jacket, install earbuds and you’re good to go again, no hassles. Nice little feature that shows someone thought about the jacket’s use while being designed. There is also a lager “tablet “pocket which appears to be waterproof judging by the zipper but I have NOT tested that fact. It would make sense given the air flow of the mesh jackets design and the need to keep electronics we carry on us safe & dry. Another thoughtful design touch along with the key lanyard in the right hand pocket and a little hidden stash pocket along the hem on the left. Just right for an emergency $20 and spare key! Overall, I have about 1,500 miles on this jacket and I find to be of very good quality and fit regardless of cost. It flows good air with the liner out, so far I’ve ridden as cool as 45 w/liner & as warm as 90 w/no liner comfortably. Once it gets over 90 here in upstate SC it’s pretty muggy and uncomfortable if standing still in ANY jacket so I’m pretty pleased with this jacket especially at it’s price point. If you need a well made armored mesh jacket for your warm weather rides you should definitely consider The Ironside!

Great for a first jacket or if you're looking for a decently priced jacket!!
I love this jacket. It's perfect for riding in the spring or summer time on a motorcycle. It can get a little chilly since it's mesh and breathable and not a leather jacket but it was definitely worth the money spent on it. I actually had an accident on my bike and had to dump it since someone pulled out in front of me, and the jacket did an excellent job in protecting myself and my upper body. Only one spot got a hole and everything else held up perfectly. The pads in the back and elbow areas worked perfectly as well. I love this jacket so much I even purchased a second one for my father to use when he rides. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone not looking to spend an arm or leg on a jacket, and will buy from this company again. The second version of this jacket came with a new addition to the liner which includes a thermal type liner for colder weather. Plenty of storage space and pockets for whatever you need to bring on your ride. I have had mine for almost a year now and it's still in great shape.

Really nice jacket considering the price
For $60, this jacket really exceeded my expectations. I live in Florida and was looking for something that I can use for the hot weather riding. Seeing all the good reviews about this jacket, I decided to give it a shot. It's a great looker, and seems to provide adequate protection for my casual riding. The "breathable" mesh works, and provides enough airflow to allow a relative comfortable ride. Of course, it's still warm when I stopped at red lights, but once moving, I have no complaints.

Great jacket for a great price, tons of pockets, tons of airflow and tons of protection
I was first drawn to this jacket for the abundance of pockets and storage space, I hate riding with stuff in my jean pockets because on a sport bike it digs into my leg and I'm always afraid its going to fall out. I rode with a Joe rocket reactor 2.0 before this and loved it so much that I couldn't imagine using another jacket.. until I received this one. I haven't used my JR since. without the thermal liner I got plenty of airflow and had no issues riding on 90 degree days in St.Louis' high humidity. With the thermal liner its perfectly comfortable riding down the highway on the few 60 degree evenings we've had. The fit was nice, can move around in my jacket without having to unzip it, I can lay over the tank without any issue. The aforementioned pockets are amazing. I have a my headphones "hardwired" into my jacket now with my Bluetooth module stuck in one of the inside pockets. I have a pocket for my sunglasses that I always forgot, I haven't used the 10" tablet pocket with a tablet yet but it did do a great job of carrying 2 Burger King double cheeseburgers on a food run. Overall its a great jacket that I would and have highly recommended. The armor in this jacket is in all the right places and I know that if I go down that it will keep the important bits safe. I plan to see how far into winter I can ride with this jacket as it has a proper thermal liner, not like the thin plastic liner that my JR jacket has. Sizing chart is spot on, I wear an XL in JR gear, XL and XXL T shirts and a 48r suit and the XL fit me perfectly. I will upload pictures when amazon stops giving me errors every time I try.
