I didn't like the original kindles quite as much as having a book in hand, but these I like more. Bigger is better - The size is big enough where I feel like I'm actually getting into the book before I have to turn the page, which is something I like. Buttons - I like turning the page with the buttons, and having the option of disabling the screen so I can hold it while I read. One handed - The battery pack is along the right side of the device giving your hand purchase and feeling comfortable to hold with one hand. This does get covered up with a case. Lights - More lights does making it easier to read in low light. Fonts - More fonts and sizes, I played around with different types on a few pages and found a combination that is just really pleasing for my eyes. Look ups- You can lookup characters by name you don't remember and read previous passages about them without losing your place, in addition to the dictionary function. On the downsides Weigh me down - It is heavier, you will notice the difference if you're changing. I don't mind it but my mother has mentioned not liking it. Tactile - It's slippery smooth. I like a secure grip, so I bought a leather case that was decently expensive. Honestly, I wasn't much of a reader before I got this, and I find myself reading 3-4 times a week now up from pretty much nothing.

This is a very handsome cover that looks and feels great. Real leather with that pleasing leather smell. The overall fit is very good. Fits snugly, but is still easy to remove if the need arises. The inside of the front cover is a black micro-fiber material. The micro-fiber is of a very fine grain. Which brings up just a very minor issue. It's the only annoyance I can find, and it's a minor one. But, when the front flap is opened and swung all the way back for reading, the inside material that you're now gripping is just a tiny bit slippery. Not a big deal - after all it offers much more of a tactile feel than the bare metal back of the Oasis. If you can spring for the extra bucks this cover entails, I highly recommend it.

Having had very good satisfaction with multiple previous (Amazon-branded) leather Kindle covers, I was somewhat reluctant to purchase this one, not due to price, but rather some of the other unfavorable reviews and photos. I was prepared to send back if not as advertised. In fact, when this fist arrived, I wasn’t sure it was really the correct case based on some of those reviews and photos. HOWEVER, … I was not only PLEASANTLY SURPRISED, I am DELIGHTED with the quality and obvious engineering thought that went int every aspect of this design. I will first admit the finish is NOT what is generally one thinks of when one assumes a smooth coated (dyed) finish on the leather. In my personal opinion, this is FAR BETTER. Grip is absolutely amazing. The short suede raw finish gives an incredibly nice yet secure feel. I was (pre)concerned about the added bulk of a case. PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AGAIN. I was also concerned about how it lays flat and bulk while reading. ANOTHER SURPRISE … when folded back the magnetic cover firmly latches to the back….and lays flat! I previously “thought” I would want to remove from the case …. NOPE … it stays in the case now!!! ... but can be removed relatively easy. An interesting discovery: Audible WILL run with the case closed …. Mine “without ads” goes to the screensaver, light off, and audible still runs via Bluetooth …. NICE TOUCH AMAZON! Some of the issues/complaints/expectations others have mentioned are probably understandable. Unlike many typical leather products, the color and finish are really NOT able to be photographed very well. If one is expecting a smooth and shiny Italian leather finish this is NOT the cover for you. If one is expecting a soft supple Napa type leather, well this isn’t “that” either. However, if one wants an excellent feel and grip that the metal back and no previous kindle cover has provided, then this is probably the one. In my opinion and summary .. I really wished I had not put of buying for so long. This is the best Kindle and the BEST COVER to date. [UPDATE - After some time of daily use, my 5 star rating still stands ...and I would probably give it 6 now if i could. The pictures of scratched up cases that others have shown in the past just don't hold true on this unit. Mine even beating around the house, in my computer bag, many hundred miles of travel, still looks as good (or better) than the day it arrived. Any "scratch" that appeared was simply "wiped" away. The feel/grip of this leather (although hard to describe) is great ... I would love to have it on other devices as well. Very pleased and would most definitely still recommend!

Best case ever in my opinion. 1. it opens like a book and instantly turns on the Kindle. 2. it helps the Kindle "feel" and look much more like a book than a tablet. 3. The leather easily develops a nice rugged patina. 4. It makes the touch screen "less dangerous" because you have much more to hold on to rather than the thin bezel. 5. Because of the additional surface area and the relative softness of the leather case, it doesn't hurt your hands to read for longer periods of time. 6. The case adds almost no bulk to the Kindle. In short, I love this case and feel that it's well worth the money! After all if you can afford to buy the best reader on the market today, why not vastly improve the experience by buying the best case available?

Much better than the standard "leather" cover. Rougher, easier to hold, more comfortable in the hand. You don't feel like you will drop it easily. Stiffer, not as flexible, which is a good thing. Looks better, looks rugged, better, like a travel journal. Yes it scratches easily, shows stains and wear, but it's supposed to. It adds character. Spend the extra $$ it's worth it.

They used the same leather from the original cover that was shipped with the first generation Kindle Oasis. This is a beautiful high end leather. The case when folded to the back creates a flat back surface as opposed to third party cases that have an awkward angled back when folded. Would highly recommend getting this case over any other case. It's worth paying the money for this case.

Having looked at a plethora of cases, I jumped at this when it was put up for pre-order. In honesty, after receiving it, I like it very much. While not quite as nice as the premium cover I have for a paper white, I will say that its pretty top notch in comparison to other cases. The leather is nice and yes, you can mark it (which you can do to any real leather). It smells good. It looks good. It is a pleasure to read with it on.

This feels like a luxurious case. It has a grippy feel to it, not slippery at all. The case fits perfectly and feels sturdy. The leather does seem to scratch easily but that is the beautiful thing about leather is the patina that is created over time. The magnet shuts off the screen everytime it closes just as it’s supposed to do. The only thing is that in my opinion, the frame of the case doesn’t protect the Oasis as well as my other Moko case. The Moko encases the sides of the Oasis in plastic where this case leaves some of the sides exposed. But this case feels nicer in the hand. It is probably due to the real leather covering as opposed to PU leather. But this case is also about 6 times the cost of the Moko. The Moko is pretty nice as well especially at it’s price.

Really enjoy this leather cover!! It’s very unfortunate that it is quite expensive! It has a nice soft touch and will just get better with use. It covers the entire back of the oasis2, making it nice to hold. It can get scratched if you are not careful, but the markings can add to its charm. Personally, I bought a nice sleeve to carry it in. Just toss in purse and all is good!

This is a natural (suede like) dark brown leather with a very rich look & feel, even a slightly oily feel (in a good way), a premium item. It is the same leather as they used on the prior Kindle Oasis. It's very Ralph Lauren kind of look. Personally I find it very manly but who knows if I know what I am talking about, lol. It scratches with almost every touch however they mostly go away overnight as the oils in the skin spread to "heal itself". It If you don't like or understand the material, this is not for you. I loved how my last one naturally aged. I prefer to read without the case because a love the feel of the metal and the lighter weight and getting it out of the case is easy enough. I would have preferred the magnetic attach style of the prior Oasis cover or the original for this one which apparently didn't stay one, but that doesn't exist anymore. If you don't like this material or don't consider this a premium look then get one of the lesser priced Amazon versions in other materials. It's not about right or wrong, it's about preferences.
