Buy early, hard to set up.
As others have stated, setting this up is not easy. Set up early so it is ready to use when given to the child. I purchased for my granddaughter and had read all the reviews. I purchased two weeks early and it look my daughter about one week to set it up. Granddaughter loves it.

Great for a kid
Son wanted one and finally caught it on sale. Seems to keep steps in line with Wife's Fitbit Charge. It's of good quality and good value. Colors are a bit limited, two, and keep track of the charger.

Just what we were looking for.
My daughter asked for 2 things for her 8th birthday. A fitbit, and a baby panda. This seemed like the realistic way to go. She loves it, and beats me in every challenge. I'm satisfied with the purchase, and humiliated by my constant defeat. It's rugged enough to stand up to her constant movement, and fashionable enough that she likes to wear it with everything. She's very conscientious of her movement and sleep habits now, and enjoys engaging others in physical activity. That's what it's all about, so bravo! I understand you pay for the name, but realistically, it could probably cost a little less, only true complaint.

The alarm feature is great for kids
We had been struggling to get our daughter to school on time until we got her the ace and set a silent alarm on it. She has adjusted over the last few months and is now consistently ready for school before I’m even ready to leave. The step count and watch features are nice too.

Very happy
I'm sorry to see others haven't had a great experience with this product, but I'm very happy so far! I have an average size 9 year old and the band fits him perfectly with room to grow. It has all the features I want, and works perfectly with my fitbit app. I'll update this review as time goes on!

Nice product
My 9 year old loves this. She wears it every day. I hesitated to buy her one this expensive, but the quality seems good. A cheaper one (not Fitbit brand) that I bought previously didn’t last. I hope this one will

Perfect for 8 year old
Reasonably priced - pretty much the same price as the adult Alta, which makes sense, because pretty much it IS the Adult Alta but with a smaller band and the ability to use the children’s app which allows parent control of settings and data. Purchased in June when it first came out and have not regretted buying it. Really motivates her to move more, especially when Nana has more steps 😊

Perfect for a 9 yo and her mom
This is a great FitBit for my 9 yo. She loves it--loves the challenge of getting to 10,000 steps daily. I like getting the weekly report for parents that says how many steps she's done and what her average sleep time has been. It's also nice getting a notification when the battery is getting low. The battery lasts a long time, however. This has been a smart purchase, and you can't beat the price. It's 50 percent less than on Fitbit's website.

Fit Bit Ace
This is excellent for kids. Got one for my 10 year old and one for my 6 year old. Comes with 2 different bands for various wrist sizes. I have the fitbit charge 3 so we all have a competition to see who can get the most exercise in daily. I never win but it keeps them motivated beating dad. Also has silent alarms which vibrate on your wrist. Surprisingly powerful enough to wake me up. Not sure about them yet. I would recommend this device!
