I needed a caliper but didn't want a fancy battery operated digital one so I went for this old school Vernier caliper. When it arrived I looked at it and thought "uh oh, I have no idea how this thing works!" But, after my panic subsided, I went to You Tube and discovered several good video tutorials and in short order (10 minutes) had it figured out. This KHCRAFT one seems very accurate and well made, especially for the price.

It's hard to find a decent mechanical caliper, one without a dial or digital readout. Most that remain are junk. This one is the exception to that rule. Extremely minimal tolerances, good tight slide, and precision: exactly what I needed.

Bought as a useful item for quick measurement of automotive items, nuts, bolts, tubing, hoses etc. sits on tool bench for easy access.

The mechanical vernier, has something wonderful to offer.

I really was a newbie with the vernier process. What makes this thing good are the polished jaws where no light gets through. Since I am building electric motors, I measure all kinds of things. Accuracy was checked with comparable digital calipers. But you will get better and better with bouncing your eye between converging pairs of lines. Thats makes this a powerful instrument. I still read up on the concept, now I can measure the thickness of my own thinning hair. The digital calipers have to be zeroed every time prior to use. The converging sets of lines magnify the their difference at intervals. One scale is just one tenth smaller than the other. You'll be self improved just using them and a better engineer.

Simple analog caliper.

Just fantastic. I honestly don't like digital calipers. This never needs batteries or callibration. I use this for blacksmithing. It's simple hardened steel that can hold up to the harsh temperatures I expose it to regullaly. Can measure just as accurately as a digital one but without the fuss of batteries or the risk of melting off the digital screen. Reads both metric and imperial measurements.

Exactly what I was looking for

I love this tool it looks precise very well done. Really helpful for prototyping 3D printed parts. Also love that did not require batteries. Thank you. My caliper came with a broken case and a thinckness gauge. Don't worry the case is already fixed. If I couldn't fix it I would print another one. Update: The case broke forever so I had to create a new one. This tool deserves a good case. If someone wonders why I still keep 5 stars and having trouble with the case it is because the caliper itself is perfect!
