This book is way better than I expected it to be. There is so many elements from crinkle to rattles to hidden objects, that I know it will keep my sons happily occupied.

A very close second to Jellycat books - my baby loves it!

If you've never had a baby, trust me when I say that a soft, "crunchy" book is a sure bet. I learned that over seven years ago with my first child and have bought dozens of cloth books since for my own kids and as gifts. While this books has "activities" such as putting the little ocean guy back in the pocket, I don't think the babies interested in this will be the age to actually do that. BUT it doesn't matter. Having those little pieces hang off made it that much more appealing to my son. We attached this to our stroller so baby could flip through it (i.e. chew on it) on our walks to his older brother's school. He loves the colors and big-eyed creatures. It's the softest of these books I've seen. I'm not sure if it's recommended, but I washed it gentle and dried it outside and it held up fine. This is my second most favorite cloth book. My first are any of the Jellycat books. Slightly more expensive, but tough to beat. If you're making a book basket for a shower, I'd recommend one of each. I think this would appeal to kids from six weeks to two years.

Well-Made and Entertaining Book for Baby

Manhattan Toy does soft baby books well. This doesn't have the full bright color palette of most MT books, although there are definitely brights there. It is more subdued though. But the removable elements, sound effects (from fabric, not batteries!), and bold illustrations are all there. This one has a look for Daddy overall message to it, something to be aware of for a child's personal living arrangements. But it is cute and sure to please baby while easy to wash and well made to last until baby graduates beyond cloth books.
