Good radio

Great quality radio. Only downside was the manual is in broken english so its hard to read sometimes. Youtube videos seem to be more helpful

Great for the price

The uv-5r+ is a good radio it works as good as some more expensive radios. It is a little hard to program, But for the price it good I've had one for a few years and it works fine

Legendary piece of equipment for the price...

Is awesome, battery life is really good, sound quality is great and the range... Dude the range... They state, it have range until your sight reach... It's to create low expectations belive me... The only down side is that the earpiece is kinda uncomfortable but you can get a really awesome earpiece for a really low budget... U get a decent earpiece and this radio is godlike... Also remember to see regulations about using the product we're you live

Cost Effective Ham Radio

Excellent hand held radio. I take it with me, attached to my pack, on every hiking trip. Get the correct cable to program it or be prepared to spend hours doing it manually. This radio has held up great to the abuse of 500 miles of trails and has fallen off a few times when running down a steep decline. Yet, it still looks and functions as new.

Pleasantly surprised at a great value

I've seen the Baofeng line on the market for a couple years and mostly shied away from them because the _seemed too cheap_ to be good. I was wrong, at $27 they simply can't be beat for a dual band. I have a couple expensive radios but I really enjoy using the UV-5R+ and found programming it through CHIRP to be really easy. The other upside is that there are a lot of accessories at a great price point. For the cost of one Yeasu battery, I can buy (2) UV-5R+s and a ton of extra batteries. The only downside for me is the 10v chargers. I would love to see 12-14v tolerant chargers for automotive use come standard.

Great handheld radio for Ham Communications!

I initially bought this radio to take with me as I travel. This radio sure does perform! The radio arrived in the time as indicated, and upon setting the radio up for initial use, I found that radio has many useful features, and programming the radio using the CHIRP CPS as been very easy. The receive volume is loud and clear, and the battery life in receive status has been incredible! The radio is small enough to fit in my backpack as well as my shirt pocket! If you are looking for a great starter radio or another radio to add to your collection, this radio will surprise you with it simple operation!

Awesome value

A great radio for a amazing price. I do suggest a better antenna for performance but for the money this radio is hard to beat.

Awesome radio

Great radio in a very small package. Battery life is ok. If your using it all day they don't last more than maybe a day. So if your going out for a couple days I would suggest buying a few extra batteries. Sound quality is great. Great range.
