I installed a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD in this thing and was able to edit Raw 4K footage in Premiere Pro on a 2018 MacBook Pro with no problems. This thing was a snap to assemble. Not sure why anyone would buy a ready-made external drive when you can save like a hundred bucks and get yourself better performance by just pushing two easy parts together. No tools.

I own two of these enclosures now, and they do all that I need. The tool-less design was particularly helpful when I only had one and was having to swap drives in and out. I've used them for my PS4 and as a test OS drive for my desktop. Both have SSDs in them, so I cannot speak for HDDs and issues pertinent to them (e.g., heat). Contrary to some of the other reviews, I've had no issues with their provided cables (which I'm using for the drive attached to my PS4). Maybe there was a QA issue at some point. I don't know. I have not tested the speed, but if they are honest about the controller they are using, ASMedia's ASM235CM-QFN48, then I do not doubt it can do 6Gbps. The enclosure itself is not the sturdiest (being all plastic), so if that is a concern you may want to look elsewhere. Their packaging on the second drive I bought was a noticeable step-up, which I was fairly impressed with. (Though, to be fair, packaging *style* would never affect my purchasing decision.)

It sure was hard to get it open. This is good though...I know the cover won't fall off. The SSD fits snugly between the rubber pads, so it won't flop around. Windows detected the device as a USB device right away, and after formatting the SSD and assigning a drive letter to it, I was able to start performing backups to it. As you can see by the picture, I'm getting 563 MB/sec read and 519 MB/sec writes. A real world transfer of 171 GB worth of data showed a steady transfer rate of around 438 MB/sec on uncompressed and decrypted media files. Backups are super fast too. This device does it's job.

Very easy to setup and use. Quality seems ok, just a plastic shell for my Kingspec drive. The USB C to USB is a nice touch. I have mine plugged into the car for my TeslaCam/Music drive. Seems sturdy and fits in place nicely. I have only installed it, I have not removed and handled it much. If it does not hold up as I remove it from car from time to time, I will try to update my review.

Works great, plug and play. Easy to install the drive, a little harder to take it out - I probably wouldn't get this if I was going to be swapping drives in and out of it all the time. Tool-free design. Pads exist to prevent the drive from moving side-side, but has possible up/down movement. writes at 370 MB/s with *my own* supplied USB-C to USB-C cable (USB 3.1) - This is probably speed limited by my drive (Crucial mx200) writes at 310 MB/s with the supplied USB-C to USB-C cable (USB 3.0)

Prior to this I had an external 3.0 drive enclosure from a drive that I shucked, and I was reusing with my SSD. I immediately saw about 30% performance bump with this enclosure. I could not figure out why at first, then I realized it must be the difference between 3.0 and 3.1 as the old external enclosure was only rated for 3.0 Anyway, I highly recommend this enclosure. Worked Great! Great Price.

My old box can detect ADATA SU630 but this box can not! Update: After the review, Ugreen sent me the replacement one. Amazing customer service! It was my fault, the Ugreen box has a tight socket than the Sabrent one, I push harder and It works very well. It has 100MB/s read and write speed more than Sabrent one and very close to advertisement of ADATA SU630 I get 397 MB/s for writing and 523.4 MB/s for reading on MacBook Pro. It slim, come with shock absorbent foam and hold the drive tight. Great!

For the price, I cheaply created an extra 128 GB SSD into a secured portable hard drive. That evening, I purchased a C to C connection to get away from the C-to- A connector that came with it. Most people probably do not have a C connection of their computer but have a laptop and desktop with C connectors. I found the transfer speed to improve using a C-C connection. If you have a USB-C connector on your computers, look for a C-C, 1.5 meter or 18-inch length and purchase. then your value with this case improves.

I recently purchased a 1 TB WD Blue SSD. So I had my older 250 GB version laying around not being used. USB 3.1 Gen 2 Flash drives cost around $100.00 or more. They claim to get anywhere from 100 to 400 MB per second write speeds. I own a fast modern pc. I've never gotten more than 150 MB per second from any flash drive that I've ever used. I purchased the UGreen USB C Hard Drive Enclosure for only $15.99 for my 250 GB WD Blue SSD. It's way better than using a flash drive or Blu-Rays for storage. I get about 450 MB per second write speed. I copied my whole C: drive to it along with some backups. I use it as an emergency recovery disk. If anything goes wrong. I can just boot it up by using my USB Boot option in the UEFI/BIOS settings. Then Restore the backup of my C: drive to the proper internal drive. TO install a 2.5 inch SSD or Hard Drive. Just slide off the cover. plug in the Female Data & Power sockets on the SSD into the Male Data & Power Sockets inside the enclosure. It takes about 5 seconds, then replace the cover. Plug in the Cable and you are all set.

This is a very well made product which is as simple to use as you could possibly want. The only thing I had to do was extract the drive from my old laptop and plug it in. The drive was immediately available. No lag time, super fast transfer speed. This is not only well made but is also elegant in its design and simplicity. The price is fantastic. I highly recommend this product.
