I bought this Garmin to replace my last Garmin that I purchased 6 years ago only because it was getting out dated. Living on the U.S. Canada border made this a desirable purchase because the older model does not work in Canada. I love it!

I purchased this to repkace a failed garmin I had for years. Was apprehensive about purchasing a refurbbed unit but money was tight and we had a need. Worked great! I do miss a few features from my old one that this one does not have but for the price I have no complaints.

I replaced my older tomtom with this unit, and I haven't reslly used it yet, but it looks like it will work just wonderful

pretty easy to use nice price fast shipping

This is a great unit. I bought this for a planned motorcycle trip around the US and Canada. For that reason, having the ability to import/export routes and waypoints in GPX format was important to me, and I wanted a unit with US and Canada maps as well as traffic. This unit fit the bill. I considered a "Drivesmart" unit, but it required a smartphone device to be on to get traffic data. This unit has a traffic receiver built in, and doesn't require your smart phone to be turned on. Compared to a TomTom unit I have, I like the Garmin better. It gets traffic updates very fast, and they are usually pretty reliable, though not always 100% accurate. This unit does not get traffic data on most secondary (i.e. non-freeway) roads, so it might underestimate the traffic conditions and hence travel times if you are using back roads. Otherwise, I find the unit to be fairly user friendly. The touch screen works well. The directions it gives are usually accurate, though on occasion does not give you the optimal route (like every other GPS navigator unites I've used). I was able to import motorcycle routes and my cross country trip route via Garmin's basecamp free software. Basecamp is a bit kludgy and takes a while to figure out (watching a couple how-to videos help) but does the job. There are other alternative software options, but I cannot speak to them. The battery, which is not designed for long term use, worked fine on the refurbished unit I received, after I charged it. Once charged, it took about 90 minutes to download updated maps from Garmin, which I accomplished without incident. There were no indications of prior use -- it looked like a new unit. Heck of a deal for about $100 off the price for a new one. To use this on a motorcycle, I bought a handlebar mount I found on Amazon. I sealed the edge of the screen with clear silicone sealant, as is described on various youtube videos. I have not tried it on the motorcycle yet, but will report my experiences later. I have been using it about a month, so I cannot speak to its long term reliability.

There was a learning curve to get the Garmin 50 US and Canada to display the information that is most important to the user. Don't give up. The 3D display is the one that works for me. I eliminated much of the popup clutter. If I want to find a particular service I just look it up ie. motel, grocery, restaurant, gas, etc. I liked the posted speed feature and hazard warnings.

This GPS was pretty much plug and go. The dash mount is simple to install and doesn't slip in the (Florida) heat. Bright enough to see during the day and auto dims at night.

The Garmin works great.

Awesome tool ....woks best for me using "faster time" verses "shorter distance"; free lifetime map updates is a huge benefit too ...
