Landove Won Shootout over Celestron & Gosky Terrestrial Spotting Scopes

I compared this 20-60 X 80 Landove to a 20-60 X 80 Gosky and a smaller Celestron 12-36 X 60 and the Landove won handily for my needs. The much lower priced, more portable Celestron delivered reasonably good sharp images which only degraded slightly at higher powers as did the Landove. However, the apparent image size of the Landove 20-60 X 80 (and the Gosky) at its lowest magnification at 20X actually seemed larger and of course clearer/sharper/brighter than the Celestron at it highest of 36X Mag. Also, the Tripod with the Celestron was terrible, almost worthless. You would have to aim way above what you are looking at and set the control knowing the scope would fall dramatically more before hopefully coming close to the image you want to view. This Celestron scope absolutely needs a better tripod as the table top tripod that comes with it is barely usable - especially when trying to adjust at a higher powers. The Landove Tripod was steady and worked well. Also, the 20-60 X 80 Landove allows you to focus about 10 feet or so closer than the Celestron at near objects (about 20 Ft) and its tripod works well and locks in place well and does not keep vibrating at the slightest touch up and down like the fidgety tripod with the Gosky or fall like the Celestron tripod as mentioned. The Celestron is about 11" long compared to the Landove and Gosky 20-60 X 80 at 17". The Landove seemed to also offer noticeably clearer optics than the Gosky 20-60 X 80 and has the best tripod of the three. For the difference in price of about $50 more over the lower powered budget Celestron (remember you need to add at least $25 for a new table tripod with the Celestron) if the larger size is not a problem, I think the Landove 20-60 X 80 is a clear winner. So, for budget scopes, I strongly recommend that you spend the little bit of extra money and buy the more powerful Landove. Its hard to imagine a more expensive scope doing all that much better than the Landove for most uses. In all fairness to the often highly rated Gosky, I may have gotten a defective scope which is being send back as the magnification collar spun all around as if not connected properly and it did not focus as clearly as the Landove. Of the three, the Landove is a recommended keeper. I am looking forward to trying some digital photography with the included cell phone adapter.

Works well for me.

Got this for the shooting range. Works well up to 250 yards. But I need this only for up to 100 yards since I like shooting using iron sights. It's good for what I need.

So far it's awesome. Don't know what the reviews were talking about with the phone adapter being difficult. Had mine setup and took a photo within 5 minuets of opening box. The picture is at 2929.79 yards. I think it's way clear for $105. I'd would recommend this to friends not just internet folks. Have only had it for 10 minuets so I'll update if I have any issues. Bought of eclipse. I'll also post some pics after eclipse.

Quality budget scope.

So far so good! Was shopping for an inexpensive scope for shooting, and it arrived just in time for the eclipse! Super easy to setup and adjust, and the phone mount is low-tech but functional. Got some great eclipse shots thanks to a little cloud cover in NYC. Looking forward to taking it to the range.

Great quality

The photos were taken through a camera phone so they are not high quality but this scope is. The pictures are of trees over 150 yards away and the image quality is fantastic. The tripod really helps to stabilize the scope so you aren’t moving around. I would definitely recommend this. Can’t wait to watch some birds with it.

Good quality, cost effective spotting scope!

Great spotting scope for the money! The phone bracket takes a minute to set up, but works great! Very very clear optics. I would put this up against any one of the super expensive brands. Has a nice carrying case that comes with it too.

Very Impressed

I used this for the first time at the range and am very impressed. At one hundred yards I can see the staples that hold the targets. The metal tripod stand is great for holding the spotting scope on a shooting bench. I spent a little time getting the I Phone camera to focus on the target but once I got it dialed in the shots could be seen on the phone screen from five feet away and very clearly. If you're shooting to two hundred yards this is all you need.

Exceeded my expectations.

Used it to spot steel targets out to 1070 yds. Could see bullet trace and hits on target easily. Good clear glass. Able to sight deer walking across the range pass 1000 yds. Could see spots on fawn at 1060 yds. Very happy with this purchase.
