Wow. I'm so impressed with the quality and ease of use of this camera. One of my math students wanted to do online math tutoring, but online white boards have weird delays and are hard to draw on, and using my computer camera and a whiteboard didn't work either. Instead, we each bought the IPEVO Point 2 View USB camera and chatted over skype! The camera is easy to focus and adjust, and now we are both able to write on paper (with amazing clarity!!! pencil, pen, whatever) and work through math problems!! Thanks IPEVO

I am a high school math/computer programming teacher who has been using an LCD projector and PolyVision brand "smartboard" for the last four years. The Polyvision board was provided via a state grant, and unfortunately it was a bulk-produced, cheap-as-possible product to put as many of these boards in as many classrooms as possible. By the end of 2013, it was a nightmare...it had just worn out. I went looking for solutions that I could afford and would allow me to bypass the bureaucracy of purchasing and budgets (and avoid having it on record at the tech office, which means they could take it from me at any time). At the price, this was highly affordable EVEN THOUGH it costs much more than the other doc cameras on the market. Here are the five reasons why you (as a teacher) should buy this one over the others. 1) The direct to LCD projector capability is absolutely necessary! If your computer goes down for the day, no worries--your document camera is not connected through your computer. If you are looking for technology that is "disaster proof" in your lesson planning, this is about as sure of a thing as there is. Again, you'll pay $x more for this than the other ones on the market, but it is completely worth it to have the direct to LCD projector functionality in the classroom. 2) There are several "picture size" settings, one of which is HD. I put documents under the camera that range from 9 point to 36 point font. The HD setting can capture the smallest fonts so that students 20-30 feet away can still reasonably see. Need to zoom in? Just grab the camera and push it towards the paper and press the re-focus button (or keep it in auto-focus all the time). There are other picture sizes that display a longer (vertical) image, so when I need a whole 8.5x11 paper on the screen I can get it. 3) It's so easy to use. Plug it in, turn it on, play with settings for 5 minutes, and you are ready to teach. 4) It's heavier than you think. That's not a negative when you swing your arm and bump it; it stays standing relatively well. 5) It makes for great instruction. Anything can go under--textbooks, novels, 3-D models, artwork. When a student asks a question about solving an equation, just grab their paper and put it under the camera for the whole class to see--everyone can be engaged in the discussion instead of just the two of you. When giving notes and you run out of room...you'll know the kids will too--so you can flip the paper over and cue them to do the same. Teaching students how to measure an angle on a chalkboard with a big clunky protractor: difficult. Grabbing the same paper your students have, and the same protractor your students have, and showing them EXACTLY what to do in real time on the big screen: effective and efficient. Absent student? You have a copy of all your written work from the day before ready for reference. I could go on and on about why this is the greatest teaching tool I have ever had, but you don't need to hear any more to know what I think. Buy this model because I'm giving you my guarantee of your satisfaction under the "teacher's oath" (if there is such a thing) that it works and your students will be satisfied with their ability to see clearly. Two things to consider if you do buy. FIrst, be ready to have a lot of paper laying around your desk; organization is key. Secondly, keep your hands in good condition or get a good pointer...the kids are going to know your cuticles well! I also truly suggest buying your own instead of buying it through your school district. If there's even a remote possibility that they could take it from you, your plans have imploded.

I operated the more expensive ELMO and wasn't happy with it. ELMO's functions are not user-friendly and hard to fluently navigate (still haven't figured out the video function to this day). I purchased this less expensive IPEVO model on the chance it might be better than the ELMO and boy, it is much better than the ELMO. It's easy to use, doesn't require a big owner's manual like the ELMO and you can have it set up and figured out in minutes. The picture taking is easy and hooking it up with the USB to a computer or a VGA outlet on a projector is easy. I'm very happy with the IPEVO and would recommend it over the ELMO. Buy this IPEVO model because it has the overhead light (some other models don't) which is really handy when illuminating your document.

This is my first amazon review because I feel like it is my duty to let people know how great this camera is for a document camera. I first tried the HUE brand webcam and was in between a lot of different products. The HUE was terrible and glitching all the time. I eventually returned it for this one. I teach elementary students and don't have time for a glitchy camera. We don't have document cameras at our school so I needed to purchase one that was affordable. So far this camera has been AMAZING and such a relief to have something that works. It plugs directly into your computer USB and the software download is super easy, took me about 1 minute. I do have to say that I bought the magnetic extension piece that comes with it in order to see a full page. I'm really glad I purchased this along with the document camera because it gives me more flexibility. If you are a teacher buy THIS one!

Wow! If you are a teacher, instructor, or trainer, this is a phenomenal teaching/learning. aid. Using legal paper size white boards, you can project your Lap Top presentations and your Mini white board real time presentations onto a movie screen or smart board by switching your projector between your lap top and Ipevo VZ-R. The white boards allow you to erase or save the finished board notes for later review. If you provide training classes with electronic circuits and other instrumentation, you can also provide real time demonstrations as well. The efficiency obtained with this equipment is truly fantastic. The availability of all the controls directly on the Ipevo makes this even more useful during any form of dynamic presentation.

I purchased the "Ipevo 5-883-4-01-00 VZ-R HDMI/USB Dual Mode 8MP Document Camera" for my girlfriend that for the longest time has used the large transparency-sheet projectors for school and personal art projects. She would project images on a walls to create larger versions of drawings, etc. This particular camera, coupled with a new portable projector is an awesome upgrade! I love this camera, as it is easy to use, and works well without any need to connect it to a computer. Simply connect the camera to a projector, TV or monitor, and begin working. The buttons on the camera allow you to zoom in and out easily, and the autofocus works great, even in low light conditions as it has a decent light to brighten things up. This camera would be PERFECT for educators and presenters. Need to zoom in super close to show very small objects? Need to project any medium to any type of display? This is a quality product, it's incredibly versatile, and works fantastic. Highly recommended.

I am a math teacher. I hate turning my back to my students to write on the board, plus erasing it and having to wash the erasers all the time and clean the whiteboard is such a pain and of course there's always a few students who can't see what your writing on the board because you're in the way! This solved all my problems. The resolution is great and for small images/text, you can put the camera about 3 inches away and it still focuses. The base is heavy enough that it doesn't tip over all the time, but it's light enough that I can move it back and forth between my clunky teacher desk and my small rolling desk where I sit when teaching. It took me about a month to poke around and figure out how to flip the image upside down :) Of course my students also love when I broadcast their image onto the TV. Excellent, affordable document camera. If you are a teacher, you need one!

I am very excited to review this product. It shipped promptly. I'm a Mac user, inserted the disk, and installed easily and I've been using it happily ever after. I'm a mathematics consultant and often teach virtually. I read the reviews on this camera before deciding to make my purchase. I'm easily able to worked problems with my students, show worksheets and textbook pages, and I even use this camera to do desktop videos that I upload to YouTube. For what this little camera costs it's well worth the value. It is very, very light and compact and I will be buying the case to take it outside my home office. I love this camera, easy to use. It even has an Evernote interface, and takes great photos too. I would highly recommend purchasing the camera extension. Using the extension the camera's circular base magnetically mounts to get more height. GREAT VALUE:)

I am an elementary teacher and use this product in my classroom. Before I purchased it, I compared it to several others on Amazon. I found that it had a good image quality and price point to fit my needs. I have had it for several months and would feel lost without it. We use it multiple times throughout the day. It is super simple for me to display a worksheet we are doing as a class, model with manipulatives, display something from a smaller screen, or display my students' work. It was easy as can be to install - just plug it into a USB port and the software installs automatically. The software is easy for anyone to use...even my 2nd graders navigate it with ease. There are functions to record your display, which would be easy to create videos of lessons for absent students or to share with parents. It's easy to zoom in and out and even take a still image (there's even button on actual camera). I especially like the stand on this camera. It stays in place well even if someone bumps the desk it sits on (which happens often...7-year-olds are clumsy), it will barely move. If it does move, it entire thing slides (less than 1/2 an inch). My colleague's camera has a flexible stand and she hates that it's constantly getting bumped and nudged - it's hard to find the "sweet spot" on hers. Even after owning it for almost a year now, it doesn't feel 'loose' - the quality has maintained well.
