Like I mentioned in the title, I wanted a pair of headphones that had a dedicated mic, was portable, multi-platform, comfortable and stylish. After comparing multiple headphones, I settled with Arctis 3. The reasons being: 1. Retractable mic: gets out of the way when not needed, perfect for my need! 2. Large ear cups: Comfortable and not heavy, sits on head and I can game/work for hours without feeling that I am wearing something. 3. Sound quality: Balanced and detailed, I could make out enemy steps over the gun fire, or the flute playing the background of percussion, relaxing and got the job done. 4. Portable/multi-platform: Being connected with bluetooth meant I could utilise it with my cell phone as well as my laptop. I was happy I dont have to buy two sets of devices for the same purpose. 5. Stylish: I know this is subjective, but I love looking like a gamer when I game, and those retractable mic help a lot in getting the pro look(even though I am not one!!). Plus the fact that I can push them back in and use them like any other set of headphones. Buy it if on a budget or don't want two devices to do the same thing.

I purchased this headset and immediately listened to music and some audio books to hear the sound. It was 'ok' (without the software). I installed the software from online (~125mb package) and then installed the extra 7.1 package thereafter and tuned everything how I wanted it. It is amazing. Do note: It does not keep the sound in as well as I'd like... so don't go blaring music in your office cubicle if you have close neighbors. These are loud! I have had the razer 2.1 and the 7.1 and these beat them out great. I was able to walk around in my 2000 sq. ft. house w/o any loss. I had loss once I went outside due to the brick and metal door (not total loss, but it kept bleeping in and out). I was able to go from 1 side of the house to the other and access my kitchen / fridge without any loss or degradation. The slide out mic is a nice touch as well! Highly recommended for PC. If you're looking for PS4 ... these will be OK, but they won't have the software enhancements :(

So, I have to say that this headset really surprised me. While the sound quality isn't the best, it's certainly not the worst and at the price point it's at its better than what I expected. It's a super comfortable headset and unlike most of the other headsets I've used my ears do not get sweaty and it's very nice for extending gaming sessions. I would say that I would recommend getting the leather ear cuffs as well, especially if you're into sound with more bass in it. If you're not that into the heavy bass then just stick with the stock ear cuffs. This is a great headset for the price it sits at and it sounds pretty good considering. All in all, I would highly recommend this headset to anyone looking for a good midline budget headset.

Hi guys i come from a logitech G231 user and play mainly on PS4. BT = Bluetooth Connection Comfort & Design 9.5/10 -Breathable -Airweave doesn’t make your ears sweat at all -Clamp is OK but not like G231 -Ski goggle band is a blessing -Can be used outdoors perfectly *Slightly less clamp and might slip off when looking down too much and too fast *Sound isolation is average and ear cups are slightly less deeper than G231 *Sound leakage is minimal, given that you find the sweet spot (for mine i put left velcro more tighter than right one, works like a charm) Performance 9/10 -Crisp clear and much wider soundstage compared to G231 -Explosions, footsteps and engine sounds (Bf1/BF5/PC2/F1 2018) are clear, can easily pinpoint enemies and not distorted even when at max volume -Bass is above average but not that powerful, suits my personal taste -Mic is very clear, even when calling via BT -Gaming on PS4 is day and night difference, an absolute upgrade from G231 -Battery life is insane at about 2 days of usage before it goes below 50% *Have this annoying static noise when using it while charging *7.1 Surround is only on Window’s SSE3 and its a meh. Didn’t work well so better off find other options for 7.1 Usability 7/10 -Available to connect on array of devices -Range is about 6-10 metres direct sight -Can be paired with a lot of devices but it will only remember the last device it’s connected to, so be sure to disconnect it first before connecting to other paired devices. *SSE3 only for Windows 7+ so no equalisers on any other platform and the audio profile set in SSE3 Windows is not carried over to other platforms *All Arctis 3 BT/Non-BT 2019 Edition doesn’t come with product activation code for SSE3, so immediately contact Customer Service and they will give a free code for SSE3. Tedious job. Versatility 10/10 Perfect All Rounder -PS4 3.5mm Wired Gaming/BT using USB Bluetooth Dongle for Movies & Music -Macbook BT -Windows 10 Bootcamp BT/Wired 3.5mm with SSE3 -iPhone BT -Amazon Fire HD 8 BT Perfectly Wireless for Life, Wired for gaming. An absolute upgrade from my entry-level G231 to this upper-mid level headset. Chose this over Arctis 7 because i can hook it up via BT on all of my devices and enjoy every bit of it. Plus for daily use it is perfectly wireless, only becoming wired when gaming. A trade-off i consider worthwhile.

This headset is being used on a PS4 Pro, just fyi. The Steelseries Arctis 7 2019 Edition is by far the beat headset I've had. Prior to these, I've always bought Turtle Beach. P11, PX3, PX4, 520 Stealth Premium. The Arctis 7 connects to the PS4 via USB connected transmitter. Regardless of what you read online, these are 100% wireless, you do not need to plug them into your controller, not even for chat. In the settings>Devices>Audio Devices>Output to Headphones=All Audio. My last headset was set to chat because you connected a separate optical cable into the tranmistter for gmae audio. These do not require that, it's literally a transmitter that only connects via USB. Now, there is a Line In & Line Out on the back of the transmitter, 3.5mm headphone type Jack's, for input of music from another source or output to another source. When the headset is turned off, th we audio will transfer to that other source. I'm explaining all of this because there are a lot of posts online swearing these are not wireless. Also, the company states the chat mix dial on the headset only works for PC & Mac, it does work on PS4. Not sure if that pertains to the regular system, too, but I don't know why it would be any different from the Pro. It's a single dial, the center is 50%/50% Chat/Game Audio, respectively. Whichever way you turn it towards, that sound will become louder while lessening the sound you're turning away from, pretty straight forward. As far as comfort goes, they're amazing. My 520's would get uncomfortable after awhile, I was always readjusting. No need for any readjustment, now. Not much else to say. You can see the setup in the picture with that band that rests on top of your head. Most comfortable headset I've owned. The sound is excellent. Immediately I noticed faint noises I just didn't hear with my last headset. I really like the mic setup. It retracts back into the headset when not needed. Also, there is a red light on the mic to indicate when it's muted. So many times I'm speaking to someone to just realized my mic has been muted for the last 10 minutes. Nice feature. The transmitter has very good rage. Off the top of my head, I can't remember what the company claims the effective range is, but I can walk down stairs into my kitchen without even a crackle. My room & the kitchen are on opposite floors, and opposite sides of my apartment. The apartment is probably 40 ft. or so from the front to back door. There is an application to update the headset firmware. It's kind of like a dashboard for Steelseries products, headset, keyboard, mouse, etc. It didn't recognize my headset, which I found others reporting for other products, as well. Below is a link to a reddit thread stating how to fix the issue. Haven't tried it, yet, but others have reported this worked to fix the issue for them. https://www.reddit.com/r/steelseries/comments/8kpak0/fix_for_steel_series_engine_not_detecting/?utm_source=reddit-android The Steelseries Arctis 7 2019 Edition is a solid headset and I would definitely recommend this to my friends. I paid for mine, btw, this is not a Review from receiving a free headset to test out.

This wireless gaming headset is amazing! Initially when I first put them on, it felt really weird. I was like, wt.. there's no way this is going to feel comfortable. Then 10mins later, I totally forgot they were even on my head. I was walking around the house, taking bathroom breaks, getting food/drinks, all the while still be on comms and able to hear what's going on in the game. I played CS:GO and Guild Wars 2 with them, two very different games. The sound is precise, I could hear footsteps very well in CS:GO without any delays. And for the MMO the sound is deep and rich. The headset is very comfortable. I was able to play for 3 and half hours before my ears felt a bit sore. That's when I took the headset off for a few. To be able to play for nearly 4 hours straight without feeling a thing on your head is very nice. And honestly if you play for that long, it probably is time for a lil break anyway. But really, this headset is very lightweight and comfortable. Don't judge it based on your initial try. I don't know why others have some issues with them. I was almost scared off by negative reviews, I'm glad I gave this a try. If you play games, you should get this.

So first off... I can't comment on battery life, but it's advertised 24 hours without charge? So if that's true... 5 star, but 4 star until tested. Otherwise, simply 5 star. The fit is AMAZING. I have a big head... most headset are OK, but never really TRULY perfect... these are so soft, and at the same time incredibly snug around my big ol ears. Sound quality (tested mostly on PS4) is great. Compared to my G430 Logitech, insane. AND... 100% wireless on PS4 & PC. XBOX i think still needs a cable to the controller (peasants) but us Sony boys... pure... cord free... sound. And with the most recent firmware update, volume is a non issue. Max volume on PS4 = a comfortable 50% on the headset dial volume control. PC offers the 7.1 software control that i've yet to test, but if my $35 off brand Sentey's can do it, I'm sure Arctis will deliver. Hands down the best thing I've ever had to date. For PC & PS4, this is 110% worth every cent I spent. Comfort, Quality, Sound, Compatibility... all 5*.

I am a PS4 user and decided to give them a go after going through 4 wireless headsets. This headset is amazing. I did not come to this conclusion until after I discovered a key factor in my love for this headset. After some research, I found that plugging the headset into a computer and using an equalizer software or Steelseries own engine app can make the headset go from sounding great to beyond amazing. Pros and Cons of the headset after having it for a week is as follows: Pros: -Incredibly comfortable (even for someone who has a fat head) -Doesnt cause discomfort after hours of playing. -Charge time lasts over 24 hours, you legit dont have to charge this bad boy, even when you do, it only takes 3 hours max. -Mic sounds amazingly clear and have been complimented on it a couple times by my consistent squad -Wireless connection is superb with zero latency, I can go in my living room and still have perfect connection. Cons: -Base EQ settings are not very good so they should make it known in the directions to absolutely change them and how to (I had to look up how to do this) -The knobs for volume adjustments are very easy to turn thus making accidental volume adjustments pretty much guarenteed to happen when taking the headset off and on unless you are very careful. Coming from someone who has had 4 different wireless headsets including New PS Gold headset and Astros, I believe this is my favorite and a must buy. All the nay-sayers most likely havent messed with the Equalizer settings which is why they didnt give them 5 stars but trust when I say its a superb headset that I see as having very little competition amongst similar priced headsets and even some higher. For your money, you cannot go wrong with this headset.

I'm going to keep it simple: ~ Super comfortable! I'm extremely sensitive to clamp pressure and get headaches *my head is on the larger size. These are by far the most comfortable, light weight and i can play for 5+ hours without fatigue. Ear cups, weight, clamping force all pass. ~ Sound! Very accurate and well balanced, almost the designed for FPS shooters. Mid's are forward and bright, and for FPS shooters you can hear gun shots in right and left ears clearly. Only grip is that compared to other headsets, the volume could be stronger. I'm about 85-90% on volume as with other headsets I'm about 60-70. ~ Battery! Solid, i get 15+ hours no problem.....I charge ever few days. You can also use the headset wired while charging and they provide a additional cord for 3.5mm plugs. ~ Wireless signal! Strong and clear, goes through 1 bedroom and when i take bathroom breaks, no loss of signal. ~ MIC is clear! Simple, retractable and clear. Love the red light while muted. ~ Software is nice! Easy to use, and adjust presets and other adjustments. I use stereo for gaming and DTSx for movies.

Wireless Headsets I went through before keeping this one: (problem from memory in parentheses) HyperX Cloud Flight - Bought/Returned (pressed ears slightly?) Corsair HS70 - Bought/Returned (pressed ears) Corsair Void Pro - Tried in-store (pressed ears) Logitech G533 - Tried in-store (clunky, harsh cups) Razer Nari - Bought/Returned (heavy) Astro A20 - Tried in-store (pressed ears) Sony Gold Wireless Headset (late 2018 updated version) - Tried in-store (pressed ears) Bluetooth aptX Headsets (we'll get into why later if you're interested): TaoTronics TT-BH036 - Bought/Returned (latency) Avantree HT4189 - Bought/Returned (latency, clamping force, pressed ears) Comfort: This is the most common reason I returned/did not purchase many of the previously mentioned headsets. I apparently have a very weird head. I'm super sensitive to shallow cups (ears stick out causing pain if pressed for a long time) and clamping force (big head causes headaches if squeezed for very long). Heavy headsets can still "squeeze" my head due to weight on top of my head even if they don't have much clamping force on the sides. Due to this, I feel confident that I am as critical as it gets as far as headset comfort goes. The Arctis 7 was kept because it did not cause discomfort when wearing for many hours. There is a caveat: As it comes in the box, it has too much clamping force for me. Luckily, the headband is made out of "sheet metal" and an adjustable strap. The strap can be loosened to let the headset contact as much of the top of your head as possible (distributing weight to remove pressure points). The metal band can be bent backwards to reduce how hard it squeezes your head. I found a forum post somewhere made by an acclaimed Steelseries employee who advised this, so that is what I did, and it worked great. Just be gentle, do it a little at a time, eventually it will be perfect! There is no padding on the interior of the cups which scared me as I usually need it, but these cups do not touch my ears somehow so it is not required. Latency: This is more of a side note for the bluetooth headsets. Most everyone knows that bluetooth headsets will have higher latency than headsets with proprietary wireless transmitters. What some don't know is that there is a variant of bluetooth protocol that aims to correct this, it is called "aptX". To use it, both your transmitting and receiving devices must be aptX enabled. I will admit, the latency was very low for the aptX bluetooth headphones. When watching videos it was unnoticeable, however when playing an FPS, it was very very soft but it was there. Switching over to my wired headset confirmed this. If you are going for a wireless headset for gaming, you currently must get one designed for it. The Arctis 7 does not have noticeable latency, nor did any of the other gaming headsets I tried. Speaker Quality: I'm definitely not an audiophile but I have higher than average taste in sound. This headset sounds nice. I have not played with the EQ, but I may try to turn up the lows a little bit. Mic Quality: It's wireless, and a gaming headset, so it is what it is. It seems to pick up more depth to the sound than other mics, your voice won't sound as flat, however I suppose this comes at a cost on background noise cancellation as it seems a little more prevalent in this headset than others. Construction: This is one of the more well-built units I've got my hands on. Time will tell how it holds up, but the build quality seems upper-tier. Battery: I can't comment on this, but I highly advise that you get some magnetic micro usb cables. Basically, the cable becomes two pieces. You plug a little micro usb dongle in your headset and then you can connect the corresponding cable any way around. The dongle and cable magnetically snap together. Makes plugging the headset in so easy that you won't ever be conflicted with "should I fumble with the connector or should I skip charging for now and just do it later". Any time I set the headset down, I charge it, because it's super easy to do so now. Therefore I will never be able to comment on batter life. If you too are plagued by comfort issues, and maybe do not want to go wireless just yet (cost being the only reason I can think of), I would highly recommend the HyperX Cloud Silver. They're not cheap but they are worth it. To this day they are the most comfortable headset I have ever worn, with good sound and great build quality.
