Burns very Clean.

My package came in perfect condition. I smoked a pork butt with the Cherry wood chips I smoked the pork for six hours and used three bags. The chips burned very clean but I wish the chip size would be bigger and that the bags would be larger. so that the chips would burn a bit slower and I would'nt have to add the chips so often.

I was looking for Alder wood chips to smoke my sausage and I came across this package - I already had the fruit tree wood chips however this package came with them as well; it included cherry and apple. The chips took a bit longer to smoke in comparison to the other chips I've used but they were very good as I feel like they weren't burning out so fast. I also think that this set could be a good gift for someone that likes to smoke food because the packaging is very nice and it consists a number of different flavors.

I am a craft mixologist enthusiast who enjoys creating tasty libations at my home bar. After experiencing my first Smoked Old Fashioned, I developed a mini obsession with perfecting that classic cocktail with my own special twist. Immediately, I knew that quality wood chips would be the key to elevating the taste profile of this classic. My husband offered his Weber wood chips that he uses for grilling and it yielded an acceptable beverage, but it did not fully meet my expectations. Ultimately, my research for wood led me to the flavorful fruit tree chips and I stumbled upon Fire Star wood chips for smokers on Amazon. For me, Fire Star edged out the competition with its balanced and highly rated reviews. Also, their variety pack appealed to me as it would expand my cocktail creativity as well as enhance the flavor of the various food items that we enjoy grilling. The item arrived quickly and was securely package. I did transfer the wood chips into a labeled mason jar for ease of use at my bar. My husband simply set fire to the bag to grill the chicken kabobs and fish that we ate for dinner! I will definitely purchase Fires Star wood chips again!

Good varieety

Have not tried these yet, but they came well-packaged, with a good variety and good amount for the price paid. Looking forward to learning how to smoke! ETA: Tried the Alder chips over the weekend. WOW! Made for a great-tasting sirloin tip roast! Everyone was impressed, will definitely use again!

Small, yet efficient.

I needed a variety pack to get started with smoking. The chip size is as noted in the description and fits my electric smoker need. It does burn quicker, but for the price, it is definitely worth it. Not only did I get an extra cherry pack, an extra apple was given also and I very much appreciate that. Will definitely grab extra when I get low.

Variety

I bought a Breville smoking gun and wanted something besides the usual hickory-mesquite-etc. options for wood chips. I'm OK with cherry, apple, pecan, and so on, but not everything that's smoked needs to taste like it came out of a BBQ pit. I was looking specifically for oak, and a milder wood for fish. So, the oak and alder options along with apple and cherry were perfect for what I needed. The chips worked great; I had to break a couple of them into smaller pieces to fit in the Breville, but that didn't matter, really. And with six bags, that's pretty much a lifetime supply for the smoke gun ;-)

Yes yes and yes !

Great and neat packaging. Would make and excellent gift. Can take a few for yourself and still have a few for a gift basket. Love the brown bag wrap ! Works buy again and again! Happy smoking ! Nice for fire pit too. Smells nice burning !

Excellent flavor profile!

We really liked the variety of wood chips this box offered. So the wood chips the added flavor has been accurate and fresh. Our only complaint is that the price point seems a bit high for the amount of wood chips. We would like to see larger individual bags at this price.

Great starter pack for smoking

I purchased this box for my boyfriend to give him the chance to try different type of wood for smoking. He loves being able to try out the new woods without having to commit to a big bag of it and possibly not like the taste. We have been very satisfied with all the woods we have tried so far. I would recommend this product if you are wanting to try different woods for smoking, but aren't sure which ones you will like

A good option for cooking vegan

I used these on my indoor stove top smoker, I made (vegan) carnitas using young jackfruit for a gathering we were having. They were a BIG hit! The flavor was on point, nice and smoky and a great compliment to to the spices I used for my vegan carnitas. I used the Oak and I definitely was not disappointed. I will buy these again and recommend their use to others.
