Quit Working, Lacking (Maybe) Customer Support (Updated)

Updated Update: The company is sending me a replacement, so I am now changing my rating from 3 to 5 stars. Update: Below is my original review. After seeing my review I have been contacted by the company and they are working with me to resolve the issue. The outcome at this point is undetermined, but they are making an attempt to satisfy me. It is not clear to me if my inability to contact the company initially was an Amazon issue or something else, but the company is now making an effort to troubleshoot the issue. I will try to update this review when the outcome of their efforts is complete, but for now I will raise my review from 1 star to 3 stars due to their efforts. I would reiterate that when choosing lights of this type (LED, motion sensor, option to only come on in dark situations to save battery life, rechargeable) you should evaluate your proposed application. This particular product provides a great deal of light, which for my application in a large closet works well (although it won't replace the light you can get from a good overhead fixture). In my case the light switch is in a remote location, so it is a hassle to turn the main light on everytime I enter the closet, and this provides sufficient light in most instances. In a small area, especially if the light will be in your direct field of view, it may be too bright, and you may wish to consider lights with fewer LED's, but I believe this light is designed to illuminate larger areas. Mounting this light on the ceiling is not an option for me, so I have to place it on a wall - which is why you should evaluate if this light, in your application, will be in your field of view. You should also be careful when considering any lights of this type as to their size as in other applications the dimensions may be too large for placement, but that was not an issue for me in the location used. The motion sensor on this light works as well or better than other lights of this type I have purchased (I have a total of 4 types due to differences in application and size constraints). Original Review: I purchased 2 of these lights, along with other sized motion sensor rechargeable LED light strips. One of these two lights recharges and works fine. The second, which I installed in an infrequently used closet, charged and worked fine when I received it, but as I said it was installed in a closet I rarely go into. Since I installed it, I went into the closet for the first time and . . . no light. I thought maybe I had put it on the wrong setting and the battery had discharged, but it would not recharge (a red light comes on when charging). The other light has worked well, and recharges fine, but I am outside the return window and no customer support is offered (customer support is offered for some other brands when you go into "Orders" and click "Contact Seller." The instruction sheet that came with the unit did not list contact information for the company). When working, it provides a great deal of light - perhaps too much depending on your application, especially if installing it in such a way that the light will be in your field of view - but I think that would be obvious when purchasing given the number of LED's (78). So depending on your application, another model may suit your needs better (using more than one of these types of lights can be problematic if installed close to each other and you select a setting that is both motion AND ambient light sensing. So the bottom line is it provides a lot of light, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your application - but a lack of product support may lead you to purchase a different product.

5* Customer Service

Bought this light for over my coffee maker. I'm up early and I don't want to turn on my kitchen light and wake up the dog. This light is perfect for the job. Turns on as soon as I go near the area. Bright enough for me to see what I'm doing. Stays on as long as I'm in the area. The best part of it is the Customer Service of Cshidworld. Even though I knew the light was rechargable, at the time I received it, I didn't realize I didn't receive the USB cord to charge it. As the light was dimming and I knew it needed a charge and I used a USB cord I had and it wouldn't work. A quick email to Chidworld about needing the USB, some email correspondence back & forth, and a week later, I receive a whole new light and USB cord. The Customer Service was very responsive, helpful and 5*. Would definitely buy this light again and would definitely buy from this seller again. Thank you again Cshidworld.

Great Light For Gun Safes

I received two of these lights as a promotion, and the first one did not work properly (it would turn on and off, but did not have the light-sensing or motion-sensing features). The second one works properly and I'm very happy with it. I am using this in a relatively large gun safe and it works very well as an automatic and cordless light. When I open the safe, it turns on, and then it turns itself off after a few minutes. The light is bright white, and certainly bright-enough to light up what I need it to light up. I also tested this in a small bathroom, and it worked very well. I think it would work equally well in a closet. However, for something large-- like a garage or shop-- you may want more than one or a different unit. As indicated in the listing, the light strip comes with both magnets and sticky tape. It's relatively easy to mount anywhere, but you have to pick which way you're going to mount it because the tape is thick-enough to cause the magnets to have a slight gap from the unit to the surface you're sticking it on. I'd therefore recommend you decide if you're going to use tape or magnets, and not try to use both at the same time. Overall I'm very happy with the light and would recommend it.

Perfect for dark hallway when I don't wish to use the overhead electric lighting

Got two of these. One of these to light up my dark hallway when I do not wish to turn on the recessed overhead lights. Charged both of them in a few hours--easy. Mounted one over the door at one end of the hall, and wet on #3 (auto turn-on at full power). Does a great job of illuminating the roughly 12-foot long hallway at just the right level of intensity. Being mounted over the door frame, it bounces light off the ceiling, and that helps to illuminate the hallway without the lighting's being blocked by our bodies as we walk through. Haven't mounted the other one yet, but thinking of mounting near light switches in the den to make it easier to find them in the dark. That'd be cheaper than getting an electrician to install a rocker switch with built-in neon light. At any rate, I tested the second one, and it seemed to be fine. The selector switch on these units is shipped with transparent tape (embossed with "SWITCH"), ostensibly to protect it. Having read other review(s) that mentioned that the switch fell off, I removed the tape VERY carefully, and no damage occurred.

Bright LED Light w/ Motion Sensor

I purchased this LED light to shed some light (pardon the pun) on a dark corner of our kitchen where my wife wished there was more light. It has a total of 78 very bright LED's with two different brightness settings. It comes with a magnet that you can use for mounting, or you can just peel the back of the 3M backing for a more permanent mounting solution. The motion sensor seems to work great. Included in the package is the 78-LED light, a micro USB cord for charging (no power brick), and a small instruction manual. The only thing I had to do the first time I tried to power it on was plug it in for a second so it would turn on. I recommend this light if anyone is looking for a cordless solution.

Nice and bright

Used as a closet light. I originally bought this to go underneath a medicine cabinet for sort of an accent light for my new bathroom. Turns out the lighting I installed in the bathroom was already more than enough, so I installed this on the back of my coat closet folding door instead. In motion sensor mode it turns on automatically and lights up that closet perfectly. Nice and bright, even in low mode. Motion sensor works pretty well, but not that well from high angles (more than 90 degrees from center). Switch could be better, but hey, you really only need to use it once. Battery life is excellent for the size, haven't needed to recharge it yet from daily use in the coat closet during the winter.

This light is so great for what I needed

This light is so great for what I needed , I have a hallway with no outlets so no light was there but when anyone went through they had to walk in the Dark But not anymore it turns itself on when you start go down and after you go into the bedroom tired it turns off for you. Hols firmly to a magnetic strip I put at the top of one of the door frames it works just right , the light does have to be charged every three weeks or so ( Not Bad ) The only problem I had was Keeping the connection from the charger USB Cord it lights blue & Red To Indicate Charging & Full Charge. This was a Perfect Item if you have a dark place needs light to get through it has four way slide switch on side off , on always m on sensor full , on sensor low light ... Very Nice Product .
