I was hesitant after reading the reviews saying this wasn't sturdy, because I needed something that could hold a bunch of heavy textbooks, but this bookshelf was perfect! It was super easy to build (FYI you need a screwdriver, I guess most people have screwdrivers but for me this was a problem, I had to order one off Amazon along with the bookshelf). It's pretty sturdy - yes it can kind of wobble from side to side, but other than that it holds together nicely, and dude. It's $30. I don't have a hammer and haven't gotten to put the backing on yet, but you can see from the photo that it holds several heavy textbooks just fine.

This is five stars, because going into it I knew it wasn't going to be sturdy, so no deduction for that. 😂 I needed a beaitiful, simple stand for under my tv that was just sturdy enought to hold the cable box and a few books/décor and i couldnt have made a better choice! Holes could be a little clearer, if the were any, I broke the bottom shelf due to that. 😅 Definitely would recommend if you are looking for a cheap bookself that doesnt ned to hold much. Nice finish too btw. 👌🏽

Bought this because we were looking for a match for a discontinued (cheap) Target Room Essentials bookshelf with weird dimensions. This was the closest I could find dimension-wise, and although it’s not a perfect match it’s definitely a similar quality and style, enough so that I’m happy with the effect (see photos!). A couple of assembly notes: these shelves are not adjustable, they are screwed into the side panels (which makes the shelf feel sturdier); the back is three separate particle board panels rather than cardboard (again, feels a bit sturdier, but a little bit tricky to install because there are no markings on the pieces, just a diagram in the instructions); the front skirt piece was about 1/8” too long, not enough to matter to me but consistent with a manufacturing error you might expect at this price point; definitely easier with a drill instead of a screwdriver. Overall, I’m please with the outcome and if you’re looking for a tall, skinny, cheap bookshelf, it’s a good choice.

I have purchased this twice now both in espresso. I purchased the first one a few years ago. Yes it is "cheap" assembly particle board. However, everything fits together perfectly and it holds up nicely. My older one, the one in my bedroom, has survived several moves without a scratch. The shelves are sturdy, do not bow, hold a lot of weight, and are a good height. After my livingg room Ikea bookshelf crumbled in my last move I purchased this bookcase again due to how well my first one has held up. I use it to hold dvds, blu rays, disk games, and books. It looks great and holds everything perfectly.

This was very easy to put together and I will be using to hold my craft supplies so that I can get organized. It is a start to a more organized craft/sewing room! I am thinking I can attach it to my wall and also add onto the three shelves for more storage now that I have the start of bookshelves.

I bought 2 of these to make into a standing desk for work and I absolutely love them!

This is a 5 stars product to me even with its few flaws. Why?! because it works perfectly fine as a bookshelf and it's pretty inexpensive. According to the instruction, each tier can hold up to 15 lb, which is reasonable a rating for its design. General speaking the lowest shelf is the strongest, thus, the heavier books should go down there. If you look at the second photo in my review, you will see a particle board with a pre-drilled hole. That is how the whole thing is put together. There are 2 holes in each side, and each board is secured with 4 screws in each side. Because particle board doesn't have a lot of strength, this design is NOT very strong at all. While a 15 lb rating is good enough for most people, you can increase its holding power by installing few small L-brackets underneath each rack and after that it would be very nice. I can tell that the particle boards is of very high quality and it should hold up to 50 lb after installing few L-brackets. (Update: I went out and bought few L-brackets for few dollars. And After installing them, the boards are totally stable. These brackets are necessity for this shelf in my opinion, even if you don't really put too much weight in it.) The other thing I want to say is the 3 back panels. Despite of their thinness, they are actually very important for stabilizing the whole frame. The instruction doesn't say to nail in the middle section and it doesn't come with extra nails neither, but it's crucial to have nails in those strategical spots. I got my own small black nails and hammer in 12 extra nails in the middle sector. See photos. Last but not least, I will buy this shelf again. If not to put books in, it can be used as a very nice organizer for other stuffs. Shipping is surprising fast for a heavy item like this. I ordered in on Sep 8, and got it here in Sep 12, and it's free shipping.

I've got what I paid for: Flimsy and cheap, but this is what I've expected ! I could have bought an expensive bookshelf, but this one fits my needs. Easy to assemble, pre-drilled holes and instructions similar to Ikea. Cheap on hardware, I had to find some more in my garage, but that's OK... $26 with free ship on Prime, what's to cry about it?

This was a great cheap buy. I got for $13. I put together myself and had no issues. Took less than 20 mins. I chose to leave the backing off. It's in our playroom and I liked it best without it. I had no issues lining the holes up. It's cheap feeling but looks fine for what I wanted it for.

I love this product when I first received it took me some time to assemble because I was jumping straight in without trying to read the directions but you HAVE to READ every step! After I was able to assemble with no problem.. very very sturdy not flimsy at all .. the only way you can get a flimsy out come is if you assemble it wrong. It is used just as I wanted to be used for I'm having a newborn and decided to get this to make more room for his clothes lotions shampoos etc.. I'll give it more then 5 stars if I could especially since the price was so cheap I would definitely recommend! 👍
