Maltese and beagle/lab mix both approve!
This is a great grinder. My small dog (Maltese) hates her nails done and she tolerated it pretty well after the first few tries. My larger dog (beagle/lab mix) also tolerated it well but her nails are thicker it takes longer to do them. Overall though, it works well. It’s quiet, easy to charge and easy to hold and use. A larger dog than my two might have nails that are too thick for this product.

Motor is too weak for my large breed hut company stood behind product.
Edited. 2/6/19. Was too weak a motor for my German Shepard's nail. It bogs down with the slightest pressure and didn't grind fast enough to not get hot nails. Probably by design for the safety of the pets from inexperienced owners maybe. Went back to my corded dremal. Update Feb 2019. Company contacted me due toy review which was past the return period and offered to send a replacement or refund my money. Chose a refund because I have a sufficient corded tool now. I love finding companies on Amazon that stand behind their product like this. I think this would be good for medium to small dogs but if you have a large breed like I do I don't think it is the best due to the built in safety features and that's not a bad thing.

Better than expected! Very quiet.

Works well, great quality
I highly recommend. I have a 60 lb dog and a 40 lb dog, and it grinds their nails perfect. The noise is minimal, so it doesn’t freak them out. It is gentle enough that if they move their paw and the grinder hits their foot, it doesn’t hurt them. By far the best nail grinder that I’ve tried.

My dog tolerated it better than traditional clippers
Right out of the package I went straight to my German Shepherd's nails. Surprisingly, he tolerated it better than the traditional clippers. I think if you make it a point to grind their nails about once a month, it should be a quick process. I'm kinda lazy and wait till I here the clicking of the nails on the tile floor. For over grown nails, I would recommend trimming the nails first with the clippers and follow up with the grinder. It performs well, nice that it has a rechargable battery with a micro USB port. Excellent idea with the metal/ diamond grinder as opposed to replaceable sandpaper rounds.

Compact and effective. Soft round finish.
I just used this on my pit who’s a baby with clippers and literally screams and acts like you hate him. He fell asleep?!?!?! I got his nails down to the quicks just with this. It took forever because they were really grown out but he’s a baby so he acted like he was at the Spa. I have NO experience doing dogs nails because I’m scared to hurt them and this really was awesome for both of us. My other 90 pound dog shows teeth when I put it to his paws. Lol wish me luck.

Wish I had these years ago!
For years I've struggled with trimming my dogs nails, never knowing exactly how much to take off and fearing that I will accidentally hurt them. Unfortunately a year ago I over clipped a nail on my golden retriever, and was riddled with guilt. I felt awful to be the cause of his pain. Since then just thinking about trimming their nails makes me sweat with panic and I have to leave the room when my husband does it for me. Even when I took them to the vet ,I stressed how important it was to not cut the kwik, and how I wanted to work on trimming them frequently to make the kwik recede. I heard his yelp and became hot with frustration when I saw that they had cut off half his nail compared to his other nails (see photo)! Finally I decided to try these dog nail clippers, and am so grateful I did. Not only does the guard help to greatly reduce the risk of error and cutting the kwik but they clip the nail smoothly and easily. I still make sure I don't cut much off when trimming, but now I can slowly begin to trim their nails more frequently to get the kwik to recede.

Doubtful at first but LOVE IT now!!!
I bought this to use on our 7 month old Irish Jack Russell puppy. It is very quiet. The first attempt didn't go well - she wanted nothing to do with it. I was trying to get her to sit in front of me and hold her paw "manicure style". The very next day, I tried flipping her on her back against my chest and holding the paws out in front of me ... SUCCESS! I held her paw close to the nail to minimize any vibration felt from the grinder. I thought I'd be able to do just a few if I was lucky so I started by only grinding a small amount. She continued to be calm and I was able to do this to all her nails. Still lying relatively calmly (JRs are not known for sitting still for very long, lol), I got braver and went back over all her nails a second time and I was able to get them ALL down to where I wanted! I think putting her in this position, against me, made it easier for me to maneuver the tool and since my anxiety level was low, it kept her calm. My husband was amazed at how different the second try went! I plan on making it a weekly ritual so it will be minimal and fast. ... Now I plan to try it on our cats. I'll see how that goes and update ....

Reliable tool for clipping dog and cat nails. I ...
Reliable tool for clipping dog and cat nails. I used to be afraid with our previous clipper because it didn't cut well which would freak out our dog. With this one I have much more confidence. Nail clipping is a breeze. The lock keeps sliding when Im using it, but I just unlock it when it does that. No biggie.

Great grinder!
This product is great! Quiet, safe and my dogs had no fear of it. I let them hear its quiet whirring sound before attempting to use it. My 11 lb doxie was hesitant at first but he soon realized there was nothing to fear and I was able to easily file all of his nails without him struggling. My 4 yr old terrier mix watched and when it was his turn, he sat quietly while I filed his nails. I especially like the small size and the quietness.
