After a weeks use of this otterbox case I wanted to give a review. This case fits perfectly with my IPhone XS Max. The package it came with does say it does not come with a screen protector which is fine, I just ordered a tempered glass screen protector anyways. They must’ve made the case awhile back due to the package on the front said for Large IPhone which was pretty neat to see. I do like the lip on the front side so I can lay my phone screen down and not have to worry about a thing. The case feels sturdy, feels good in the hands as the outer portions of the screen are rubberized. Buttons on the side feel like they are in perfect position when I press the volume buttons or turning the phone on or off. With how much phones are nowadays I don’t trust anything but otterbox to keep my phone secure and safe from drops.

Lasted for years I dropped my iPhone 6 Plus with the previous Otterbox Defender case several times but the screen never cracked nor the phone was affected. Non-slip firm grip Without the Otterbox screen protector but with the Maxboost screen protector, worked better than the case for iPhone 6 Plus. No more water and dirt got between the protector and the iPhone screen. No hindrance to touch. No problem with wireless charging. black looks really cool, clean, serious (hard to describe but I liked it a lot better than the other colors that I had). I got used to flipping the rubber tabs that cover the charging port or the sound toggle switch. Didn't regret at all. A little bulky compared to without the case but my wrist and fingers were hurt when I tried to hold the sleek but slippery naked iPhone XS Max while waiting for the case you be delivered. Bad: too pricey!

I used the Otterbox Defender Series case for my iPhone 7 plus and it protected my phone through some serious abuse. My hobby is metalworking so my phones are around dust and grime all the time. I am also very active outdoors and drop my phones regularly, bump them against hard objects on a daily basis, and leave them lying around in dirty environments. The Xs Max version of the case fit my new phone great. It doesn't have a screen protector, like the old 7 Plus case did, but I purchased a Maxboost tempered glass screen protector and the two fit well together. The Xs Max version is built just as tough as the previous model and I'm confident that it will protect the new phone through several more years of abuse.

I recently upgraded my iPhone 4S to the XS Max, and I needed a protective case. My brother-in-law introduced me to OtterBox when I purchased the 4S, as I needed a heavy duty case while working in construction. When I find a brand that I like, I tend to stick with it, so I purchased another Defender Series case for my new investment. Let me just say, what an improvement from the previous case! First of all, the outer material that the case is made from is MUCH more durable than my previous one, although I have only had it for a short time. The previous material was much too soft, ended up tearing, and I needed to purchase a replacement that ended up being superior than the original! I don't see that problem happening with the new one, as the material feels very high quality and has good grip to it. Also, everyone ends up buying screen protection when they get a new phone, and my previous OtterBox had it built in to the case itself, which ended up being not as good as the one that I purchased. The NEW DEFENDER SERIES Case comes with NO SCREEN PROTECTION. This is a PLUS! Buy your OWN screen protectors, which typically come as a 3 pack. Now, if the screen protection gets abused/damaged, simply change it out for a new one! You are no longer married to screen protection permanently attached to the case, and unable to be changed out in the event of damages! I highly recommend this product!

One thing I love about the new defender series is that it does not have the builtin screen protector. Which allows for a quality glass screen protector to be installed with better fell and no issues of dust build up behind the screen.

Bought this with impact glass . Awsome product but as stated it is first otter box with no built in clear cover so other product is a great ad . Fits x max perfect

I’ve never purchased a Defender series Otterbox. My previous case was a Commuter Series Otterbox. I was skeptical at first due to the added size added to the phone especially on an Xs Max. But, I went for it. It arrived on time and I was very pleased with the packaging. Let me say I am very impressed with the quality and the fit of the case on the phone. It feels much better on your hand and very secure. You’ve purchased a $1000 plus phone, why cheap out on the case? I went with Dress Blues/ Chinchilla case. It looks great and beats the standard black case. If you’re on the fence about getting this case, just get it you won’t regret it. I should of bought this case sooner.

works perfect on my new iphone Xs Max. also wireless charger works ok too. Seneo Wireless Charger, Qi Certified 7.5W Fast Wireless Charging Stand Compatible with iPhone X/ 8/8 Plus

I bought a case before this one, which I absolutely loved the look of, but it turned out to be too thin. The thickness was only 11mm. Even though I wanted to love that case — it was grippy — great color — there were two detrimental things going on. (1) The case felt insecure in my hand. Even though grippy, I could not get a good hold of the phone without tightly grasping it. (2) The case dug into the flesh between thumb and forefinger, causing pain. I liked that case, and still do, and I still recommend it for people who don’t mind thinness. I am giving it away to Goodwill for some fortunate girl or woman (pink glitter) to get it half off. My beef is really with Apple making iPhones too thin. The model I bought was an iPhone Xs Max. So now I have the Otterbox Defender (without screen protector). I have had it for one hour, and can tell outright that it is a keeper. When I searched for “silicone,” “grippy,” “gel,” “jelly,” “rubber,” “foam,” “textured” or “nubbly,” Otterbox Defender didn’t appear on the list. Had I known the outer layer was silicone, I would have bought it right away. Any case I use must have an OUTER shell of silicone. Inner shell — no — not silicone. In fact, preferably NOT silicone for the inner shell so the phone can breathe. Having had several devices where I had put a 100% silicone case on, I am convinced didn’t allow the device to cool off and therefore shortened the life of several of my devices. The Otterbox Defender appears to have an empty layer between the phone and the innermost layer — thereby letting the device dispel heat. For my particular cover, on the back where the hole is, where the Apple logo is, the cover *DOES* have a clear plastic sheet covering the hole. That means dirt can’t get in through the back. In using the first case, after some experimentation, I wanted a cover that has enough friction to stay in my hand without having a tight grasp on it, or for that matter, any grasp at all. Do this test. Put the device on the palm of your hand — keep your fingers loose. See how far you can tilt the device before it slides off your hand. The Otterbox Defender — I kept tilting the device to pretty much vertical, and the device stays in my hand! “Lightly” holding the Defender’ed iPhone, the device doesn’t fall. Bingo. A keeper. I highly recommend. So far, so good.

Otterbox never disappoints, I’ve used their cases on all of my iPhones and they have yet again gained my trust with this new xs max case. This case has everything you need for someone who is afraid of potential shattering their new iPhone. Offers raised lips around all the important parts such as both cameras and edge to edge with the new curved screen. For the first time, this defended series doesn’t have a built in screen protector which I think is a great feature. My old defender for my 6s was so smudge and scratched and I had to replace the whole case rather than just the screen portion. I’m currently using TETHYS tempered glass which goes edge to edge and both the case and glass protector do not interfere with each other. Excellent case for someone who is afraid of the ridiculous cost to replace these new screen because I could literally throw this thing across a parking lot and it would come out unharmed.
