It was a hot August day in San Diego when I was on the 55th hour of a work week. I felt as if I was smoldering as my uniform soaked and stuck to my poor, dehydrated frame. My boots were practically squishing with moisture from the beating sun. I thought to myself in this time of peril, how delightful it would be to go home, undress, and flop my roasting body into a cool, succulent pool. Alas the idea was incepted into my brain- Amazon is the answer. I searched my options for 15 or so minutes whilst simultaneously persuading my husband to disband the rickety trampoline that had wilted more and more with each passing summer day. The forgotten trampoline’s previous home would make a wonderful spot for a bathing pond of sorts. I ordered this item with Prime but shipping was delayed a day. This amounted to a bit of angst and despair as I was forced to wait another day for sweet relief. The package came in the morning, I was at work and my husband resentfully followed through with his sworn duty to banish the trampoline and replace it with a beautiful moat fit for the Queen of Santee. After much struggle under the beating sun and with a healing broken arm, he managed to get the ground level enough for the pool. I FaceTimed him out of anticipation, whilst I was at work. When he answered the phone he showed me the filter which was in several pieces, his face expressed frustration. He had fumbled with the gadget for quite some time in the blistering heat and had become annoyed. After making some futile suggestions, I ended the call. Miraculously, my husband banded together the filter and by the time I came home I was presented with a beautiful, knee deep paradise perfect for belly floating and beer time. This pool has been a highlight of this summer in the most simplistic way.

We LOVE this pool. A couple things I saw in other reviews that I wanted to reiterate. 1. You will need a couple other things. Get a solar cover. It helps keep debris out and warms the pool. The other cover by Intex that covers the whole top is not necessary. It's hard to get on with one person and we scrapped it after one use. 2. Buy a floating chlorine tablet holder. We got ours at Tuesday Morning (they have awesome pool stuff sometimes). We buy the Clorox chlorine tablets on Amazon. 3. You will need to buy filters. We get them at our local Kroger store. I tend to buy them up at the end of the season when they are on clearance and hang onto them until the next year. 4. You might have to occasionally re inflate your ring a bit. We find that after our initial fill up on a new pool the material stretches and we have to add more air. 5. It's easier to put up with two people. Once you get to the stage where you start to add water you pull the bottom a bit to get out wrinkles. Take the time to do that. It's worth it. 6. Ours lasts two seasons (though the solar cover sometimes only lasts one. Our heat just breaks down the material. 7. You can use patches if need be. I have tried it and been moderately successful. There are patches that can be purchased that can go on the pool even with the water in it. 8. The price does change. We paid $83, but in looking today it's $70. So if you can plan ahead know that they get cheaper as the season ends. Also know you're buying an $80 inflatable pool. They aren't meant to be the sturdy in-ground or those framed above ground pools. But for us, it's perfect. I spend my summers with a floaty, a glass of wine, SPF 50, and a good book.

I use this so I can lay out to tan without having a heat stroke during the hot, humid Gulf Coast summer. It’s been perfect for that purpose and I have nothing negative to say about it. I initially planned on filling it up on the weekends when I was going to use it and then draining it each time because I didn’t want the hassle of any kind of maintenance. However, I realized the next weekend, seven days after setting it up and using it the first time, that the water was still perfectly clear and nothing had gotten in the pool, so I went ahead and ordered one of the mini floating chlorine dispensers and some tablets. It just didn’t make sense to drain it and spend 4-5 hours filling it up again when it was staying so clean. I don’t bother with the pH or anything else. Obviously, the fact that I’m the only one using it (and am careful about making sure my feet are perfectly clean before getting in) means I can probably get away with doing less than if there were kids using it. It was easy to set up by myself once I got over the initial confusion caused by the parts list and instructions being apparently intended for another model. But it’s an $80 pool so I didn’t really expect much.

This is my 3rd one of these types of pools in 10years. I usually get a few years out of each pool, had one season where I went to a hard plastic rim pool but it was a project to take down in the fall. This one is as simple as it gets and you really want a 18-20’ ft round pool. It is imperative that your ground is level and you flatten out the bottom of the pool before filling. While filling ensure the sides are out to the bottom seams, inflate the ring and let the hose do its job. Fills up nicely, perfect height for my young kids, summer lasts for 3 months in the Northeast and when September comes we drain, dry, fold up and store in backyard in a tarp. I should mention that I use the regular filter but use the salt water system and it eliminates all of the added expense of adding chlorine, well worth it.

The very first thing to note is 2 things. First, the pool is great. You can't go wrong here. Second, keep in mind, it's not just the pool you'll need. The this version of the pool comes with a pump, necessary hoses, and 2 filters. Intex sells additional filters as singles or in a pack of 6. The filters you need are: Intex 29000E/59900E. We bought the 12 foot version in May of 2016. It's worked great so far. It took about an hour to setup. I used a tarp underneath which Intex does not recommend, but we did it anyway to protect the bottom. It took about 3-4 hours to fill up the pool. This one comes with the pump and filter setup which is a must to keep the water clean. We also bought some basic pool chemicals, and both available covers by Intex. The cover we use the most is the solar cover. Where we live its around 90-100 degrees F daily. You should also have a strainer for this pool to get the leaves and larger organic matter out of the pool. The included pump/filter setup is really just the get the stuff the strainer can't get. As far as having flat ground, Intex makes a big deal about having this pool level. See the picture of our setup. It's basically like a big bag, so think of what happens when you fill a bag with water on an uneven surface. It's going to roll to one side a bit. In my case the ground is about 4 inches lower on one side than the other. The pool still works fine in my opinion, just the water is not as deep as it could be, but I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. The 2 year old can touch the bottom with ease yet the pool is still deep enough to for my 4 year old to swim laps and for my 6.5 foot frame to swim under water. I've never maintained my own pool before so I got some water test strips, PH booster, and Chorine Sanitizer. I have to put about 1/3 cup chlorine in per week. Go easy on the PH booster because using that will increase the Total Alkalinity, I recommend the Clorox pool products. Intex recommends you change the filter every 2 weeks. The first time I changed the filter at two weeks I saw surprised at how much gunk was in it. It seems like you could clean it yourself to extend the life of the filter but will try that next time. For a season Intex sells a six pack of filters so I bought that as well. For the cost the pump is clearly cheap, but seems to be well made considering the limit budget for materials. The pump on the 12 foot pool will filter 500 gallons per hour so you should plan to leave it on for at least 3 hours on most days. Also bought Intex's foot bath to wash the feet before getting in the pool (shown in picture). That helps to keep the junk out. Final price including a few pool Toys was about $350, including the $79 for the pool. So expect to pay more than just the cost of the pool, but after searching all over for an above ground temporary pool (one with no frame and expensive pump/filter setups) I can't be happier so far with this one. Just the thing we needed to keep cool in the summer and provide some fun for the kids. Aug 2016 update: Everything is going great. At one point, I had a problem with Green Algae, but apparently so did the pools in Rio for the Olympics. I n my case the problem ended up being too much Stabilizer, which prevented the Chlorine from doing it's job. I ended up replacing my chemicals and tester strips. Make sure your test kit includes a test for Stabilizer. I purchased the AquaChek 551236 7-Way 100 Count Pool Water Test Strips and I'm very happy with those.

This pool was easy to set up, and the kids love it! Ok, the parents love it too, and it beats going to a community pool or the beach. Once my kids get bigger, we'll definitely upgrade to the 48" pools by Intex since they make great products. Just be sure to get a timer for the filter, and definitely get the ground cover. Also get the Intex skimmer, vacuum head, ladder, and floating chlorine dispenser.

I wanted to wait until we had our pool an entire summer before I wrote a review so I could really give an opinion. We read hundreds of reviews before we bought it and some of the things we read I will repeat. But I felt I should review it because we found way more complaints than happy people. We are SO happy we purchased this pool. My son and I spent almost every day in it during his summer break (sometimes for hours, sometimes for a quick dip). It is big enough for 3 people to float around and just deep enough to submerge yourself. It has lasted 3 months so far and while we probably only have another few weeks before we take it down, we already plan to put it back up in May. Our pool had no rips or holes in it when we received it. The stairs and pump are easy enough to put together. The pool itself is very heavy which is great because it held up but putting it up is somewhat of a chore. We got our area as level as we could but it was still off just a bit which we would tell by the way the ring at the top laid. It's best to have your area as flat and level as possible. Ours being off just a bit didn't really bother us but it'll be something we fix for next year. It helps to have two people to help with laying it down, kicking it out and getting all the wrinkles out as you start to fill it up. The more you can kick it out and get the wrinkles out with the least amount of water in it is best because it's already so heavy and adding water makes it worse. It took about 8 hours to fill it up using our hose. We did have to replace the cord on the pump because it blew by the second day (we had read many reviews about that so we knew it wasn't just us). We ended up buying a replacement pump for backup and did have to replace it just last week because of the cord again. For next summer, we will most likely buy a sand pump (a lot of other reviews will say the same thing) and the top of the water skimmer. I replaced the filter every other week (and rinsed it in between) and I bought a pack of 6 replacement filters online for less than $20. Overall, this pool was exactly what we wanted. It was a good deal on Amazon and it was worth every penny. The time I spent with my son and husband in it over the summer was priceless. We would purchase it again.

If you are considering getting this pool, go for it. We are SO glad we did. I caught it on sale at $49 bucks and it was seriously one of the best investments I've ever made. Our community pool is 1.5 miles from the house so it's not very convenient. The kids use this EVERY DAY. The filter I thought would be crap since the ones that come with usually are... However this one does a great job. I turn it on at night and let it run til morning. I have to rinse out the cartridge about once every 5 days with a pressure attachment on the hose. (haven't bought a new cartridge yet and I've had the pool about a month) I use a floater thing with 3 of the 3" chlorine tabs in it and that lasts about 3 weeks with HEAVY rain (Florida) with it being out in the direct sunlight it does something to the inflatable ring, I notice it getting soft after a few days and I refill it, so plan on keeping an electric air pump on hand because it works better if the ring is filled to capacity. Overall we are extremely satisfied and I would give it a 10 star if I could. Even the adults are thoroughly enjoying it.

I bought this for my family to relax in this summer. I set it up myself with my 2 year old and 4 year old's help. It took about a day to fill up and a couple of warm days for the water to warm up to a comfortable level. I put a ground cloth and blue tarp under it. The ground is not level but I am happy with it having a shallower end since I have a 2 year old and 4 year old. I do always keep a close eye on my kids to make sure they don't lean on the deeper end to avoid any accidents. Next summer I may take a bit more time creating a level surface when the little one is taller. The only downside was I thought the instructions were not laid out very well. There was so much literature when they could have done an easy step by step guide in one or two pages. I bought a solar cover, solar heater (haven't used this yet), small 1" chlorine floater and tablets, and a pool vacuum to go with this. We had a pool party with 5 kids of various ages in here. They had plenty of room and plenty of fun. It's great for what we need it for. I hope this pool lasts us a few summers but the pool itself is cheap enough to replace if we ever need to. So far it's well worth the investment.

Love it!!!!! This pool is perfect and just what I wanted for my Labrador. I don't expand the ring fully so it won't puncture. it's the perfect height for her to get in and out. She loves it. my little Chihuahua gets in to when I am in. He floats on a raft. LOL. perfect cool summer exercise for the Arizona heat.
