Mountain House Chicken: The best I've tasted in dehydrated chicken!
Mountain House chicken in this can is a great idea. I've used it for a variety of recipes when I didn't have time or was not feeling well to cook due to a long term illness. Could say Mountain House has saved many meals from being boring and bland to satisfying and delicious. The chicken is about half inch dehydrated diced cubes & rehydrates fully & quickly within 10 minutes leaving a great protein source to supplement any dish where you'd use chicken. I've added this to soups when I didn't have any chicken in my fridge & no one could tell that I'd used the canned dehydrated food over fresh. Texture is exactly like fresh cooked chicken and flavor matches fresh equally as well in soups, salads, or other meals where you'd like to add chicken. Another bonus is that after making a big batch of soup & freezing the leftovers, the chicken tasted terrific when we enjoyed it at a later date. I look forward to trying other Mountain House foods and can say with certainty that we will be return customers as long as Mountain House continues to make available top rate quality products. If this review was helpful to you, please check yes. Thank you!

Fantastic!
What's there to say? This product might very well last longer than you do and the chicken tastes delicious. I've used this product on numerous backpacking trips and the chicken is always very delicious. The chunks are small enough to easily reheat with boiling water in a ziplock baggy. I usually store the extra in the freezer and it seems to last for a couple extra months in there. I'd recommend mixing some chicken into just about any dehydrated backpacking meal as it adds a lot of flavor and much-needed protein. Being able to cut down on weight while still enjoying some hot chicken is a huge mood booster out on the trail.

Pleasantly surprised
I was pleasantly surprised. I've never used FD chicken before. It rehydrated beautifully, and was tasty. There was some dust at the bottom of the can, but not that much. I sprinkled the dust on my dog food. Happy pups! I'll buy this again. I made meals in a jar with the chicken, and used an oxygen absorber to seal them. Now I have quick easy dinners for nights when I just don't have time to cook.

Tastes like...
Product is terrific in hot meals or mix it with seasoning, water and oil as you leave camp in the morning to have 'chicken salad' sandwich spread ready for your lunch stop. I'm a repeat buyer. Product arrived ahead of scheduled and exceeds expectations.

This was a great tasting ingredient in the freeze-dried meals I made for ...
This was a great tasting ingredient in the freeze-dried meals I made for a back-packing trip I planned for four people. The left over meat I bagged and through in the freezer. It is very handy when I need to make a quick pan of soup or hot dish. I mix in dried onion soup mix and have used freeze-dried vegetables and pasta. Very handy and tasty when there is no time to cook.

DIY Backpacking Meals
We use freeze dried chicken for our DIY backpacking meals. This chicken tastes great. It re-hydrates well and tastes like normal chicken. We also add it to packaged backpacking meals to add some additional protein (they usually skimp on the meat). We use our vacuum sealer to re-package the chicken and freeze between trips.

Delicious very surprised
Five stars across the board excellent product. The chicken rehydrates and just a couple of seconds with hot water I added a little dehydrated onion with it and it was delicious. You get big chunks just as a picture show you will not be disappointed with this the chicken taste like chicken it taste good it has a texture of chicken because it is chicken. I know I've ordered from other manufacturers and their meat had the texture of rubber and no flavor. Not this though I'm very happy thank you Mountain House and thank you for keeping the price reasonable. The picture shows the chicken in the can and the chicken in the bowl was reconstituted with water and some onion in it absolutely delicious.

Small chunks, all chicken, no TVP. Our fav brand for prepping
Very good stuff. This is our favorite brand of camping/prepper food. We've tried just about everything they have and it's all been consistently handled and tastes good. Great product; totally acceptable amount of dust/tiny bits
This is a great product with nice texture when rehydrated. And don't worry about excess dust/small bits. Unless you have an angry delivery person who is rough with the packages. I have used many cans of Mountain House diced chicken, and have found very little dust or broken bits. To demonstrate this, I opened the package I just received, lifted it from the box (where it has been on its side, set it on the table, opened it, and took a picture. The attached photo is exactly what the contents looked like (I did not stage it with intact pieces on top). I carefully separated out the chicken chunks from the dust and tiny bits using a strainer, and weighed them. Out of 17 ounces total of freeze-dried chicken, 1.4 ounces was dust/tiny bits (mostly tiny bits. The rest was pieces the size of what you see in the photo. I consider that perfectly acceptable, since contents are rattled during shipping and that can't be avoided. Plus, the dust/tiny bits are perfectly edible and provide the promised protein. Dogs and cats love it sprinkled over their dinner, and it can be used in soups, casseroles, stews, and rice dishes.

Great price
This is fantastic for snow day storage. I also use it to prep freeze dried meals for our annual fire season evacuation. I'd say let dishes sit or cook an extra 30 minutes. Tastes great, good texture if you hydrate it longer. I also highly recommend the book "Freezer Bag Cooking" by Sarah Kirkconnell.
