I searched all over the internet for these! I wanted matching salt & pepper grinders that were well constructed and the grinding mechanisms wouldn't break easily✔ And they couldn't be too tall so they wouldn't fall over easily✔ And they wouldn't leave remnants behind when you were finished using them✔ And they looked nice✔ And not too terribly expensive✔ I've read the reviews on these and people have said they're too coarsely ground, not true. They have variable coarseness and they each work beautifully. Stop your searching and purchase these!

Perfect grinders

We've had these for a couple of months and use them daily, many days they are used several times. We love that the grinder is on the top - no messes on the counter or table. We love the grinder adjustment - easy and works well. Don't expect the grinder to get the salt or pepper super fine, but if you want that just use the pre-ground stuff in a regular shaker. For us, the grind is plenty fine enough from these. Using these is also easy - it doesn't take much to turn them - even one of our mothers who has bad arthritis in her hands can use them without trouble. Being able to see how much is inside is handy - can keep them filled and never run out right at dinner. And refilling is super easy as well. We had one instance in which the salt came out of the bottom because the screw/plug came off. However, we realized that one person was holding the grinder in such a way that they gripped not only the part that turns/grinds but also gripped the screw/plug for the salt container. Since discovering that, we've had no more issues with salt or pepper coming out. (the rest of us don't even turn/grip the grinder that way, and the person who did doesn't anymore) So, I feel silly writing so much about a fairly inexpensive salt/pepper grinder but really these are superb.

Excellent grinders, well designed.

I happen to love the taste of fresh ground pepper, and I always use freshly ground Mediterranean sea salt when cooking. This pair of grinders seemed like a perfect solution to use near my cooktop. First, they sit on the base with the grinder portion at the top, which means you no longer have those circles of pepper or salt dust to wipe up every time you pick up the grinders. I've found that the closures for the refill area seal well and have not loosened or spilled their contents. Each of the grinders includes a control that enables you to easily adjust the size of the grind on the fly. Finally, for someone who suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome, I've found that these grinders are easy to grip and use, This is actually my second set; these were purchased for use at the table. I've had the other set for over a year and they still look and work like new. For anyone looking for a pair of quality grinders, I think this would be a perfect solution. They are a bit pricier than some of their counterparts, but this pair performs well and should hold up in the long term, and they look good and are easily cleaned as well.

EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR!!!

I have been looking for an easy to fill pepper grinder for quite a while. We prefer fresh ground pepper but filling the grinder is something I dread doing. I have tried a funnel, I've tried a paper funnel. I get the same results, peppercorns bouncing into the sink, on to the counter, on to the floor. UGH! In fact to avoid re-filling the grinder I actually bought a 2nd grinder and waited until both were empty before I'd fill 'em. I saw these on Amazon and thought okay it says it has a wider area to fill, what the heck. I am DELIGHTED!!!!! I find they are a very attractive set and since the grinder is at the top there are no "crumbs" or residue and yes it is easy to fill! I like the easy to read grind selection (fine to course). I'm glad Amazon had this item and that I made the purchase. I was NOT paid to write this review nor did I receive a discount. I just really like the product.

OXO Makes Them So They Must Be Good

I had an old pair of salt/pepper grinders that I received as a Christmas gift years ago. They finally wore out (pepper grinder) and I wanted a set that looked good and would last a while. Having had great experiences with other OXO products I decided to give these a try. These are both salt and pepper grinders (most other sets use pre-ground salt and only the pepper grinder grinds). These things are great. They are well built and work very well. One thing that is really nice is that you turn them upside down to use them. This may not sound like a big deal, but if you have used a conventional grinder where the pepper (or salt) exits the bottom, you know that as soon as you set it down on your table (or wherever), you get some residual salt or pepper that comes out, and you have to clean up the mess (or not, depending on how you roll). I love these and would not hesitate to buy them again.

Excellent product - ☺

Extremely well made - period. --------------------------------- After 20+ years, our old salt & pepper mills finally gave their last and it was time to replace them. We have always liked OXO products so there was not too much of a risk to try these out just on looks alone. Summary - There is a 5 point selection near the top; from fine to very course. Once selected, it stays securely in place. One BIG difference between these and our old mills is that the dispensing end is on the top and not the bottom. It now seems like second nature, by why aren't all mills like this? By having it on the top. all the product ends up on your food and there is no tiny piles of salt or pepper to sweep up after dinner - what a concept! ♥ The units hold a very generous amount of product which means very infrequent refills - also nice. They also come preloaded & ready to go which is really nice if these are selected for gift giving. A nice new addition & I am sure that it will be another 20 years (or longer) before we think of needed to upgrade again.

Nice fit for small hands or large

We like these salt & pepper mills the best. Over-all nice feel in the hand and good weight. Height is nice when at the table. I never think about knocking these over when they are around the cooking area or at the dining table. Twist the top to set the grind and you're done! We also have another set that is taller with a key lever at top that is "just OK" compared to these. We use both designs on a regular basis; one set on 1st floor the other upstairs. Seriously, I'm not kidding. Just stop looking and buy these. I am SO tired of containers that are too small. These containers will last about 6 months of daily use because of their capacity. I'm SO tired of tall pepper shakers that won't stand up. These are not top-heavy and stand firmly on their base and don't tip over. I'm SO tired of grinders that suck. These don't. They grind & give you a choice from their version of fine to coarse, in 5-increments which are obviously adjustable for every user. I'm SO tired of grinders that look like crap on your table. These don't. Stainless, clear & black looks great with most decor, and none of it shows fingerprints (because your hands are, by design, all over these things). I'm COMPLETELY tired of shakers that make a mess when refilling. These don't. Everything is easy and you just pour in your pepper and salt without an issue, without leaking, without a mess, and without any confusion. There is no mechanical confusion here on how to make it all work. They just work and keep on working. These are nothing less than amazing. My girlfriend has had them for 2 years. I have had them in my camping kit for 2 years and they're still going strong after roughing it outdoors in rain and all-things camping. I bought these just a month ago and I can't believe I waited this long. Buy 'em. You'll not be at all disappointed. . . Be well. Stay centered. . .

Great grinders! They fill very solid and not cheaply made. They open easily to fill with salt/pepper, and they're very easy to operate. The grinding mechanism is very smooth feeling and it's easy enough to operate one handed while holding it. The grain size selector is great and allows you to choose exactly the size you need! Would highly recommend!

Great Grinders!! Review: OXO Good Grips Salt and Pepper Grinder Set

I have to admit I was hesitant to spend $40 on a salt-and-pepper grinder set. But after looking at all the other ones available and reading the reviews on this OXO set, I decided to spring for it. I am not disappointed, as these are excellent quality and look like they're going to last for years. There are multiple settings for the coarseness you would desire. I really like varying the texture depending on what food I'm putting the salt & pepper on. The other great thing about this set is that it is very easy to grind the salt and pepper. It takes very little effort to turn the black ring at the bottom of the grinders. I bought this grinder set at the same time I bought "The Spice Lab's - ( Food Grade ) Himalayan Crystal Salt - Dark Pink - (Coarse)". You can read my review on that salt also. It is excellent, by the way. So all in all I'm very happy with my purchase. Five stars all the way.
