• The head, back and sides of violin are made from composite wood

Wonderful for the price. I mean, for less than $50 you get the violin, the bow, some rosin & a holder for it all. Our 8 year old loved it.

We bought this violin for our 6 year old daughter for Christmas, shes had a sparked interest in the instrument because of a band she really likes, but we have no personal experience with violins so I didn't want to buy an expensive one. This was perfect! I did not find it to be a toy. Its a legit violin and plays... like a violin. This took a little while for us to figure out (again, we have no experiences with violins!) I couldn't get it to play, so I kept tightening the strings and one broke -- totally my fault. I switched it with a different string, so now they aren't in order, but we just wanted it to play and I figured I'd fix it later! Then we found the "secret compartment" that had the bridge and wax in it. We waxed the bow strings and it started making noise!! Super exciting. A few weeks later we were watching a movie and someone was playing the violin and we noticed the bridge on it. Haha! We attached the bridge to the violin and it plays beautifully! Overall I would definitely recommend this violin for a child. Especially if you want to see if it's something your kid would like to pursue more before you buy a pricey one or to have just for fun!
