Since we've been remodeling our home, our Python aquarium cleaner hasn't been compatible with our new faucets. We haven't been doing water changes but had some leeway because our tank is heavily planted. But we needed to get to some of the sludge in the corners and make the water less hard (we'd simply been adding water to compensate for evaporation.) This works really well for our deep column tank. The narrow hose was great for getting into tight spots without disturbing the plants too much. After cleaning the basket filter, the valve at the top of the filter somehow got sucked down into the basket partially which diminished the suction by a lot. It took a while to figure out what was wrong as the illustrations are tricky to see. Once we had the flap in the right position, it worked perfectly again. We really like the clamp that holds the hose in the bucket as well as the flow control clamp that allows you to stop the water when gravel starts getting to high in the intake tube. The squeeze mechanism to get the water flowing is much handier than the old fashioned siphon style that inevitably would send water into your sleeve and armpit. We like this tool a lot!

I was skeptical ordering this, as other hand-pump cleaning devices had been pretty meh. I was pleasantly surprised at this one! This thibg has a good amount of power to its suction. The little "filter" was helpful, as well. One of my snails got caught up in the suction, and stopped on it. Pulled the suction end slowly from the water, and little snail is floating back down with his pals. Cor anyone who has hated hand-pump devices, I highly recommend giving this a shot!

Initially didn't like it until I used a few times. Have 90 gal tall tank saltwater with sand. Took awhile to get used to it. Sand clumps and sucks up all at once but light push on plunger breaks it up. Once I got the hang of it works well and can't beat price. Diameter of the tube a bit small but allows me to get into tighter spaces so good and bad

This is an awesome gravel cleaner. It comes with a clip so you can clip it to the bucket your filling with tank water, it also comes with a clamp so you can stop the flow, two different length Inlet tubes which you can connect together. A great feature it has is all the parts are separate so you can pull the tube off and clean the filter(it's not glued together like most gravel cleaners). If you get aquarium rocks sucked up and stuck to the filter you can press the top button a few times and get them to fall back into the tank. The 2 inlet tubes make it possible to work with a wide range of aquariums; there's a 30cm tube and a 40cm which you can connect together to get a length of 70cm. This gravel cleaner had a lot of features that my previous one didn't have. Super easy to put together and clean after use. Works great for all 4 of my aquariums; I have one 10 gallon, two 20 gallon longs, and a 29 gallon.

Product: Boxtech Aquarium Gravel Cleaner The first time I used this I was ready to return it with a one-star rating. However, after looking things over closely, I realized that one of the tubes had slipped a little so that the one-way duckbill valve was no longer one-way. This happened again shortly after, and I realized it was because of the way I was holding things as I worked the pump on top. A few strips of duct-tape at all the joins fixed that for good and now I'm a very happy camper. (Don't use glue because now and then you'll need to take it apart for cleaning). Features I like: Just about everything. The small suction tube fits into tight places; the two tubes provided can be arranged three different ways to obtain different lengths; the built-in pump means no more risky siphoning by mouth; the flow-control device and the bucket clip are handy little additions, and, the 3/8" tubing is soft and flexible.

Overall I am very happy with this purchase. After using this for a couple of water changes I can rest assure that I won't be needing to replace the whole thing. In the past I used to buy those soft plastic ones that would last me couple months, but this one is well build (hard plastic). It comes with an extension tube which is very helpful if I need to clean a taller tank. I highly recommend this for anyone in the aquarium hobby

Anyone who has maintained aquariums for a while is more than familiar with the standard tube-and-hose siphon rig you get at the local pet store. What sets this one apart is the integrated pump and valve system, which helps you get the siphon started quickly and easily, without having to submerse the entire thing into the water. Not only is this easier, but there's less mess! I maintain a marine aquarium with live sand, so I only use this to siphon out water for water changes. I can't remark on how well it cleans gravel since I don't use it for that, but I can say that it will let out a lot of water in a hurry! I like that it has an optional extension tube, and the included hose clamp and bucket clip are also a great to have. The system is easy to assemble, use, and clean, and the pump and valves all work very well. I'm very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to any aquarist.

Did not expect much. Actually purchased this for parts. even with the small drain tubes I used it as is to try if out and it made water changes in my 125 gal a breeze! nice work guys!
