I finally bought this software after trying it out for about two weeks. I was shocked at how fast it was. The software ran smoothly. My only complaint is that the noise reduction needs to be refined more. One can loose details and sharpness if it is not used judiciously. I wrote this review in an attempt to make more photographers aware. I have bought two other photo processing programs that challenge Adobe and this one is better than both. I plan to use it on my personal family photos. Updated Nov. 1, 2018 I used the software on my Halloween photos. There was one that I over exposed the highlights. The software couldn't recover the detail even thought I was shooting raw. I had to switch to Photoshop Elements to bring out the details. Photoshop Elements was able to recover with no problems. Nevertheless, I still recommend this for hobbyist. One just have to be careful with the highlights while shooting.

This has been one of my favorite photo editing programs for some time now. Unlike the other software I like you can still get this complete program without having to pay each month to use it. It does everything I need for it to do and more that I may never get around to using but its nice to know its available. I do a lot of super wide angle photos and the ability to correct the angles of trees and buildings is awesome and the easiest I have ever used. The wide variety of filters/presets are extremely useful and they produce some very interesting effects. It also makes moving objects in a photo around, duplicating it, or getting rid of it completely very quick and easy. You can spend days experimenting with all the thing this program will allow you to do and you will have fun doing it. I certainly recommend it to anyone who loves photography.

There is no such thing as the best photo editing software. I’ll explain that. I am a career professional photographer, it’s how I make my living. Photo editing software is a tool of my trade, every bit as much as my cameras and lenses. I can’t believe how many people I hear saying that they use a particular brand of camera and say that it is the best. Of course that’s not true, the brand of camera has nothing to do with making great photographs. And that same analogy is true for software. I have at least a dozen different editing apps on my workstation and each of them serves a unique and individual function. In fact for most tasks I will use at least two or three of the apps while working on a single photograph. If you are just getting into photography, don’t be concerned about which app you choose, install as many as you can and learn what each of them can do for you. I’ve used PhotoDirector for several years and liked it so much I’ve upgraded through several versions, however my most recent version is number 6, so this one was quite a leap. The general look and feel hasn’t changed that much though, and I don’t think the differences are that significant. One thing I noticed immediately however is that it does seem to load and run faster than my previous version. Installation was effortless, the entire process took about thirty seconds. Whenever you see comments about trouble with software installing it almost always has more to do with the user’s computer than the software itself. I could spend an hour discussing what this app can do, it has a lot of capabilities you don’t find in the two most popular photo editing apps, but of course it lacks a lot of their capabilities too. As a pro photographer the one thing I have a need to do on a consistent basis is to remove objects that I don’t want in the photo. It’s an unfortunate fact of living in the modern world that there seem to be signs, power poles, and other object everywhere we look and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to take pictures without getting them in the frame. Of every app I use, PhotoDirector has my favorite tool, called Content Aware Removal and it alone is worth owning this software. It is faster and smarter than any similar tool I’ve used and the result are generally flawless. If you’re wondering if this app is best suited to pros like me, enthusiasts or beginners I believe the answer is all three. If I had to uninstall every editing app I own except one I think I would have a very hard time giving up this one.

So many of us long term web developers used to use Photoshop occasionally, so buying it at several hundred was worth it. However, since they've gone to a monthly subscription, and no longer support the old purchased versions, we're stuck trying endless crappy freeware. This is an excellent alternative that totally works for me! I rarely do Web development anymore, but I maintain a few websites of my own or help others get a site going and need dependable graphics software. This has so far done everything I'd ever needed to do in Photoshop and even has a more intuitive user interface. I highly recommend this software!

Years ago I used to work in Photoshop regularly. To be clear, I was never a master of the program, but used it a lot as a student creating ads for my advertising portfolio. As taking photos has become more and more a part of everyday life, I wanted to be able to do some of the things I used to do with Photoshop on my personal pics. But the price is just too far out of reach for this purpose. PhotoDirector is a nice compromise. It doesn't have the horsepower PS has, but I have not run into any situation that I couldn't at least make it work with the tools available here. It gives you filters, correction tools, creative options, just about anything you need to bring the best out in your photos. It was easy to load, comes at a reasonable price and has a fairly user-friendly interface. All in all, if you are seeking a lower priced option for editing your photos, this is a great one.

I wanted this software partly for play and enjoyment, but mostly for better editing options on Instagram photos. Before now, I'd been using only basic editing programs. I was hesitant to try this because it's definitely not my area of expertise. I'm pleasantly surprised! While there's certainly a learning curve, this particular software is user-friendly and great for beginners as well as pros. There are a whole lot of options, but everything is easy to find and figure out. You can make subtle changes in tone, blur backgrounds, brighten dark images, eliminate shadows, etc. I'm still playing with the tools and learning about all this has to offer. If you're new to photo editing, this is a good place to start.

I have recently purchased a new semi professional camera. I started to simply love taking pictures and I enjoy doing it. With my three children running around and exploring, there is simply an endless fun taking more and more photos. This program from cyberlink makes and fulfills my taken photos into perfection. It does practically anything and everything that I would ever want. And the best part of all of this is that it is so easy to use. Or at least easier than other programs which I have seen. There are so many different things that can be done to manipulate your photo. For instance you can remove objects in a photo or move them or replace them - it is so cool and real. So many photo presets and so many artistic overlays. So many things to be done that will enhance it and make it look absolutely gorgeous and professional. I totally recommend it. And I believe his is truly a value. I hope this information was helpful. Thank you.

I’ve used and mastered them all… Photoshop, PaintShop, ImageMagick, etc. So what could another pixel manipulating software suite possible offer? Does CyberLink’s PhotoDirector 10 bring anything new to the table? Yes, yes it does! It’s not perfect, but read on to find out why I love this software. PROS: ** The automated face and beautifying tools are powerful and easily wielded by the novice. The effects are subtle but have a significant effect on the final layer without the appearance of modification. For portraits, fashion, models, and selfies this tool is worth it’s weight in gold. In only a few minutes of time, PhotoDirector10 delivers professional results with little to no learning curve. The workflow is very intuitive and each step in the process is clear. Removing shine, reducing fat, enlarging eyes, whitening teeth, removing bags under the eyes, diminishing wrinkles and aging, applying foundation colors - very powerful stuff. ** DirectorZone is an online catalog of user created filters, templates, and tutorials. The signal to noise ratio is manageable, with before and after examples and the ability to sort by downloads, date, creator, and favorite count. There are also context aware tutorial buttons throughout the interface that will link to online videos that succinctly demonstrate the tools. ** The painting effects filters are powerful and fun to explore, but tend to be an all or nothing exercise. While a slider allows the user to adjust the strength, the initial changes are so significant that blending the original layer tends to result in disappointment. CONS: ** Occasionally the program would lose responsiveness and present a spinning cursor, leaving the user with the “Close the Program” or “Wait for the Program to Respond”. Closing the app is the correct answer, otherwise you’ll wait for eternity. ** Generally, the interface is slow and unresponsive. A click on a menu item may appear to do nothing at all, and naturally the user will follow-up with a click on another item. These clicks tend to queue up and suddenly execute in order, causing chaos and disruption to the interface. The “File” menu at the top of the interface is almost always unresponsive – click it and then remove your hand from the mouse and wait around three seconds for the menu to appear. Very clumsy. ** The interface menus often presented with upsell purchases, upgrades, and subscriptions. This clutters it up and is mostly just irritating. ** The video creation tool is lacking. It does create photographic slideshows, and renders into a 4k mp4 nicely, but it is a little bland. You cannot import any video files and the available music and effects are not very appealing. It works, and if you have nothing else it may do the trick. CONCLUSION: There is definitely a lot of value here. I’d say the payload is on editing photographs of people. The tools are extremely effective and easy to use. Faces and bodies most definitely look more beautiful after using the tools, and do not look filtered. The same could be accomplished in Photoshop, but both skill and time would be required to achieve similar results. And for this, it is well worth the price of the ticket. Consider all the other features and functionality as a bonus. Highly recommended.

I am not a professional but I love taking photos and tweaking them. I have used basic programs and a few professional grade programs so I have some basic experience editing photos. This program compares well with most of the big name brands out there. It is fairly easy to use and offers similar tools and results. It would be nice if this was cheaper or offered a huge improvement over the competition but realistically it performs about the same as others available. As a beginning/intermediate level photography tool this works well. *** Positive Points: *** - Easy and quick installation on Windows 10 - Loads quickly on my core i5 with dedicated GPU - Has most (if not all) of the features that other big name brand program have) - Easy to use and relatively low learning curve *** Negative Points;*** - Price is on par with other photo software from big names (this is not really cheaper) - Learning curve (while still being fairly easy to overcome) is still present

I've been very pleasantly surprised by Cyberlink"s new PhotoDirector 10 Ultra photo editing software. It's taken me awhile to get used to it because it has SO many features but I can say this software meets or eclipses some of the best retail photo editing software available. First off you can get some really awesome effects rendering, which I'm trying to incorporate into my website. You can use 3D and import 3D files from a huge number of sources, which really takes this software to the next level. You can also incorporate special effects like particles, titles, and things like flying using images of yourself or another person running and jumping.... Just a fun little things I'm trying to play around with with our dog and kids. You can also make 2D appear like 3D in a variety of file formats. I also like that I can burn the 3D images to disc on DVD (or Blu-ray, which I don't use) for business slideshows using the large variety of slideshow template options. You can also add audio with sound leveling to your slideshow which works really well. There are so many options and I haven't learned how to use them all or use the ones I'm working with as well as I'd like because there's just so many options available. However, the more I play with it, the more I'm enjoying it. Very highly recommended!
