Powerful, intuitive, processes 3D ... and FAST!

I've used a half-dozen video editing software programs in the last 10 years and PowerDirector 17 is the most intuitive and FAST program I've used. ALL of the modern programs will accept pretty much any video format. THIS one is the first I've used that will process 3D videos, in case you have (or are planning to acqure) a 3D camera. It lets you blend videos and still photos (for backgrounds and the like) seamlessly. But so far the biggest improvement over the last 2 video-editing programs I used before has been the speed. At some point ALL of these programs are going to produce some kind of video output. Since videos are typically very large files (both the input videos and the final result) I put together 14 different video elements into a 50 minute video I've been working on for church. The previous program - a truly excellent and easy to use video editor - took 5 hours to produce the final 50 minute video. I entered the same exact 14 videos into PowerDirector 17 and it gave me the final flawless video in 34 minutes. It then burned it quickly to a DVD that I can replicate. More Features Than I Need For My Basic Editing, Intuitive To Me, Proxy Mode Helps Responsiveness

My video editing needs are pretty modest compared to how many features are built into PowerDirector 17 Ultimate. Installation was pretty easy on my Windows 10 laptop. For my needs I found the interface intuitive for me. Here are things I like: + It seems capable of anything I can imagine wanting to do + Good tutorials, help and documentation + Image stabilization helps to make my shaky camera work look better + Proxy editing mode improves responsiveness and editing speed, especially with 4K videos + Good timesaving express projects + 4 plugin packages included in Ultimate: Wedding Pack & Holiday Pack 9, ProDAD Adorage 10, ProDAD VitaScene 3 LE, BorisFX Film Style & Stylize + Includes 25GB of cloud storage What I don't so much: - Perpetual product only allows installation on one computer - Requires create an account So far so good. My first simple project was easily created using an express project. It installed easily, has been easy to use and results have been generally better than I was expecting. I like that easy projects are easy but there is enough depth that I feel much more advanced capability is accessible if and when I might need that. That is why I'm giving Cyberlink PowerDirector 17 Ultimate 5 stars.

Cyberlink PowerDirector 17 Ultimate

This is a small upgrade for me from Ultra to Ultimate. Don't expect too many differences. Basically Ultimate has more effects. I've been using PowerDirector for years now with mixed results. Sometimes I use Pinnacle 22, sometimes Video Studio. Video programs on the PC are Ram and CPU hogs and require more than the minimum requirements to run smoothly. Keep that in mind when making a purchase. Compare the various programs, their requirements, and your system, and needs. When one program doesn't function as expected I try one of the others. One thing to be aware of is it does not automatically remove earlier versions of the program when installing. The learning curve of this is less steep than other products. Recommended!

Review: Cyberlink Director Software Exec Summary: Terrific product, easy to learn/use

I obtained the Cyberlink Director Software to edit video for my son's Senior recital. I needed software that could handle multiple video and audio lines, edit simply but with power and that could also fix and zoom within the video as well as sweeten the audio. All in, this software did a terrific job. I learned Premiere years ago and I'm happy to say that all of my favorite capabilities are here...I put together a half dozen videos in relatively short order and they looked professional and interesting to the eye. A strong recommend for this software, now I'm trying to figure out what else I can edit with it. It was that fun!

Perfect for the home video editor

If you're into directing home videos or creating YouTube Vlogs, you'll find this software very helpful. It's pretty much got all the features you need to make professional quality videos. The menus and tools are all easy to find and use, and the interface is intuitive. You'll become proficient after a couple uses and create great videos in no time!

Love it

I play guitar and post a lot of videos of myself on YouTube. I've been using Sony Vegas Movie Studio, but over the last few years have grown disappointed with its lack of features. So I decided it was time to learn something new, and this Cyberlink software did not disappoint. One of my major problems with the Sony Movie Studio was that it wouldn't recognize my Logitech webcam - Logitech webcams have to be about the most common thing in the world, so it was disappointing that it wouldn't recognize it. The Logitech website wouldn't let me download the correct drivers for my particular camera, so the quality of my videos was pretty poor (colors weren't right, lighting was weird, etc.). The Cyberlink software however works perfectly with my webcam - it recognized it immediately and provides excellent picture quality. My other problem with the Sony software was the effects - something as simple as adjusting the brightness, contrast, exposure and saturation was next to impossible. Sony's effects were extremely hard to use and I was unable to obtain satisfactory results. The Cyberlink software has all of these features, and in a very easy-to-use format. You simply click the "fix/enhance" button and you have access to everything you need to make yourself look good. Lighting adjustment, color adjustment etc. are all right there and most importantly, you don't need to be a professional producer in order to figure out how to use them. They simply work. Of course there are a plethora of other features - a huge variety of crossfade effects, titles, templates, etc. etc. etc. You can even produce 3D videos if you have that sort of equipment. Overall I'm very happy with this software - I'm still learnign how to use it and as I go, I discover more useful features every day.

The online stuff adds a lot of functionality.

This program works well for me. I’m working on small projects so it was a great value.
