I did upload pictures, but it looks way better in person. I ordered this on December 9th. I've been waiting for the sale price of the PG279Q, but the model was just too expensive for me, and complaints about the BLB (backlight bleeding). Checking Amazon again, I saw this, (PG279QZ), Never seen this one before, but it was showing $599, "what's this model?" I did my research and it is the IPS panel with Gsync, 2560x1440, 144hz and can be overclocked to 165hz in the panel option (easy to use), which is exactly what I needed! It's also official on the ASUS website so not a knockoff. The truth is, there is still BLB, but it's very minimal compared to the previous PG279Q model. All IPS panels have a slight bleed, which is normal. But I spent some time messing with the color settings and it looks beautiful. NOTE: the stock settings has the brightness at 100% so make sure to lower it and play the color settings and you'll be happy. Anyway, the monitor is amazing! I came from a 1920x1080p 60hz monitor and didn't think much of it being different to 2560x1440, but HELL YEAH IT IS! (Wanted to take advantage of my 1070 Ti and i7-8700k) Especially for gaming. Nothing seems blurry anymore and I noticed a HUGE the difference with the reticle/cursor/gameplay picture moving very smooth when I aim fast. YOU WILL notice the difference - gaming and just normal daily PC use. Colors are beautiful and vibrant. The quality of the build and stand itself is supurb, you can tell it's not cheap and worth the money, heavy and sturdy. I love the fact that you the ROG logo and stand ring lights up red. Keep in mind you can turn this off in the physical panel settings. Overall guys, I know most of you are worried about the BLB, don't be. It's honestly not bad compared to the PG279Q. Tweak the color settings a bit and you'll be fine. I wouldn't say this is a huge upgrade from the previous model, but if you don't already have an IPS/Gsync monitor yet and have been contemplating on purchasing one like me, BUY IT. It's worth the money if you're a PC gamer, especially at $599! Get it before it goes on high demand and the price will increase. Thanks for reading.

PROS: + All the bells and whistles you'd hope for in a monitor of this price range. G-Sync, 144Hz is easy to setup and immediately noticeable. IPS gives stellar color reproduction as well. + OC to 165Hz is nice (if a little overkill) + Solid design with thin bezels and easy to use menu buttons. CONS: - All the bells and whistles cost a significant amount more than some lower end 144Hz G-Sync monitors (though you usually have to sacrifice IPS for a cut in price). - Backlight bleed on the IPS panel seems to be a widespread issue with this model (I won the panel lottery, so this didn't affect my review score). I've seen plenty of reviews mentioning RMAs, so be aware. A few things off the top: I'm writing this review from an enthusiast gamer's perspective, so keep in mind that I haven't used this monitor for certain programs and tasks yet (video editing, Photoshop, etc.). As for the rig that I'm running: Intel i7-4790k, GTX 1080, 16 GB RAM, multi-monitor setup with the Acer K272HUL. The first time I upgraded to 1440p 60Hz, I thought gaming couldn't get much better. I was very wrong. The ASUS ROG Swift PG279QZ has brought my rig to a point where it feels complete. With a GTX 1080 or better, you'll be cranking out plenty of FPS to make use of the high refresh rate, though the 165Hz OC is overkill. Even when you can't get 144 FPS, the G-Sync is absolutely stunning. More than just looking smoother, games *feel* smoother in your hands even at 60 fps. The big thing you'll see most people complain about with the IPS version of this monitor is the backlight bleed. I got lucky and only have a slight spot at the top of the panel, but it's hardly noticeable in everyday use. As for the build quality, the monitor has really easy to use display buttons, thin bezels and easy VESA mounting holes. Could you find a cheaper G-Sync monitor at this resolution and refresh rate? Yes. Something like the Acer XG270HU or the Dell S2417DG would likely be great. But you'll likely sacrifice the IPS that goes along with those features. If money isn't much of an object, then this is the 1440p monitor to get.

This is the newer model to the old model (pg279q) which you had to play the lottery to find a good one. The pg279qz Panel is perfect. No dead pixels. No ips glow. Amazing colors and they were spot on. Gsync is awesome. The specs are the same as the older model but the panel is much nicer quality.

This monitor is AMAZING and very Discreet, it is fully assembled and calibrated out of the box! I purchased this monitor for gaming and it does not dissappoint. 1440p 140Hz (without overclock)! Please be aware that this monitor will take up space on your desk. My current desk is almost 30 inch in depth but I think this monitor would better on a desk with 35inch of depth. I guess I will be adding a 5 inch partition on my desk this comming spring :P The biggest con of this monitor that everybody keeps pointing out is the EDGE lit LED technology that was used to build this monitor. Yes you can see the LED light bleed when the screen goes full black and especially when the screen has no load/goes to default black screen mode, but it does not affect the gameplay in anyway or shape or form. The monitor is very vibrant and alive! The first monitor I received had a dead/stuck pixel. I contacted Amazon for an exchange and they provided me with a UPS label to return the defective product(dead/stuck pixel). The second monitor did not have any dead/stuck pixel. In conclusion, the dead pixel was the only problem of this monitor, which was solved by Amazon. The Edge lit LED bleed is not noticeable unless you look for it. I am having fun using this expensive monitor. Currently I am replaying the Story Mode on GTA 5 and the only time I notice the LED light bleed on the edge of the screen is when I first open the game and its loading through a full black screen for (way) less than 10 seconds. During the gameplay, I cannot notice it at all. If you have the money and are looking for a 27 inch 1440p 144Hz without overclocking this is the monitor you have been looking for. That being said your gonna wanna upgrade to a bigger desk or a customize you desk.

To start, I did not own the previous model (PG279Q) but this current monitor has no dead pixels. There is lightbleed in the upper left corner, but is barely noticeable. I have to confess, I would have never thouight to "test" this unless I had read these reviews first. Dang, I know its $599 and expensive, but some of you all are even more picky than my near OCD self about perfect technology. Owning my own tech firm, I wanted a nice new monitor since I just updated my current PC 8700K w/1080. I'm not a huge "gamer" but enjoy PUBG once in a while. All I have to say, coming from a 60HZ 1440p beautiful ACER monitor that works just fine, this is a flat out luxury monitor with the best IPS display I have seen. I have seen over 500 monitors owning a tech firm (most to be fair a lot cheaper) but damn this is beautiful. The refresh is buttery smooth. Oh, one point: YOU MUST MANUALLY CHANGE THE REFRESH RATE. OUT OF THE BOX IT IS 60HZ. Possibly I'm a "noob" or whatever it is called, but I did not know this and was frustrated for a good 5 minutes. The 165HZ refresh is something I truly enjoy and will never go back on 60HZ. As for the backlight bleed, I can ONLY see it when the monitor is pure black in a pitch dark room, and then it is barely seen. I'll take this extremely trivial payoff for an IPS vs blurry TN coloring. Some TN panels are near IPS quality, but at the time none can match the best like this monitor. Cannot recommend this enough. Shocked it was only $599 instead of the normal $799. This panel is gorgeous, I use the portrait mode a lot also for work productivity. Lastly, I hated the base design and "republic of gamers" logo since I am not a huge "gamer" but you can turn off the lights and logo. I think it personally looks a lot better with the lights off, but to each their own. Highly recommend, the LUXURY 165HZ 1440p Monitor.

This is the second one of these monitors I have purchased since 12/18/18. This is my second review of this monitor. I received one that was clearly either damaged or defective at the end of January 2019. I had Amazon replace it and the replacement looks perfect. My first one is still perfect too. I am very happy with this monitor. Colors are excellent. Running at 144mhz. GTX 1060s on both computers with this monitor. Gsync.

Well I have started the raffle process Feb. 2019, hoping that the new stock would yield better QC. I’ll try to update for each monitor. 1.) inch long backlight bleed like crazy and in top right less in bottom right. Pressing on the bezel near the BLB makes it fade and then reappear. Sending it back. First 3 photos (sorry I know it blurry) 2.) Second monitor is great! It has the faintest increase in brightness in the top right, but barely noticeable on an all black picture. I am pretty darn picky and I can live with it. Night and day difference from the first one I got. Set to FPS picture mode, loaded up a color profile from RTINGS and lowered the backlight to around 10-15 to suit my dark room. It looks great so far with no yellowing and good color uniformity. If you get a panel with the BLB issue, send it back! Reading the other reviews makes me think I got lucky by only having to swap it out once, but it’s also proof that there are good ones out there! Don’t settle for anything other than what you’re paying six hundo for. Last 3 photos is this monitor.

This is a great refresh for this monitor, no edge bleed that I have noticed so far. The sleep mode issue has also been resolved it seems. It came packaged properly, the box is different and less flashy from the previous model but other than that it's the same as PG279, just better. Something to note and I'm not positive it was only me, but there is no HDMI included as the spec sheet on their site states. There is also no CD and no warranty card, just a small getting started guide and member notice book that has your serial number on the back. This is not a concern as many of us do not use HDMI and if we do I'm sure most of us have some laying around these days, and few used the old included CD; and less paper to recycle or throw away is good. Another thing to note, as of the time writing this review there is actually no way to properly register the monitor as it's so new the model is not in the support or registration drop-downs, it has to be registered as ASUS ROG PG279Q and not PG279QZ, or just wait until it gets updated into the menu.

Pros: Coming from 1080P monitor, I noticed a huge difference in terms of image quality. It looks sharper, cleaner, less jaggy, and I can read the text very clearly. Running at 165Hz was really amazing. Game feels smooth, fluid, and responsive. Yes, running with G-Sync is also awesome experience too. No tearing, no stutter, and less input lag. For color accuracy, the color was vibrant and more accurate thanks to its true 8-bit AHVA/IPS panel, compared to most 1080P monitor with 6-bit + FRC (Frame Rate Control) which causes color depth dithering in order to achieve 8-bit bpp. Cons: Not much an issue in terms of backlight bleed, IPS yellow tint glow, flickering. Only complaint was that OST multi-directional button feels small to move with my large hands. I wish the multi-directional button is slightly bigger to easily play with the OSD menu such as brightness, blue light filter, contrast, etc. Other thoughts: Since I've been gaming on 1080P monitor for over a decade, upgrading from 1080P to 1440P resolution truly makes a huge difference when it comes to CPU/GPU bottleneck. For instance, running at 1920 x 1080P resolution significantly causes CPU bottleneck which will therefore lead to less GPU utilization. 1440P, however, seems to solve CPU/GPU bottleneck since raising more pixels means GPU have to do more work while CPU does less which is important to have consistent frame time variance. The aesthetics, build quality, and quality control is excellent, though PG279QZ is basically a revised version of PG279Q which originally came out since 2015. But thankfully, the IPS panel itself has been improved which should alleviate backlight bleed and/or IPS glow. Perhaps, I may have won panel lottery. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and I highly recommend PG279QZ if you want more resolution, decent color depth, and G-Sync capability. Okay, so let me start this off by saying that I originally ordered the PG278QR, which is basically the same thing as the PG279QZ but with a TN panel. You can check out that review on the PG278QR product page. Anyway, I ended up very displeased with the PG278QR and then placed an order for the PG279QZ. So it gets delivered, I set it up, and it’s absolutely astounding. The colors are vibrant, it had zero dead pixels, no BLB(Backlight Bleed), no IPS glow, everything exceeded my expectations. More often than not, the factory settings are pretty terrible, but this monitor only required minor tweaking. I strongly urge you to purchase this monitor, as I have never been more pleased with a gaming monitor. Asus really did a great job. I don’t think I’ll ever purchase a monitor with a TN panel ever again. VA or IPS panels are the way to go.
