A Tale of Two Carts
So I recently moved in to a great downtown apartment. Like many such apartments, parking is in a garage a couple hundred yards away. The walk crosses a couple streets, goes along a busy sidewalks that have seen better days including a number of large cracks, over a few curbs, down a ramp…up another ramp, on to an elevator, down a carpeted hall and then home. Everything from the parking garage to that last ramp is fully exposed and uncovered. When it rains, I get wet. I found several folding cargo carts at Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Office Depot and similar places. These are typically the plastic milk crate style box on a cart that folds. I already had a great one of these that I purchased on Amazon a couple years ago. It is far and away the best in that category, but no where near the capacity, volume wise, I was looking for. If that is what you want, I would strongly consider this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003J3XHIW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage With my new move I watched what other people were using – the typical 4-wheeled basket style cart. Through my local searches they were all very lightweight and nothing was covered. Since my intent was to make the trip from car to apartment once when I returned home, I needed to carry my laptop bag, possibly some groceries and/or dinner and usually a few other small items. Some of these would fall out of the basket; very few would withstand water. The first cart I ordered was this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002C7U6UI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00 The Extra Large heavy-duty folding Cart with matching Liner-Basket Cart – Jumbo size from DLUX. I will refer to it as the DLUX cart. I paid $35.71 on Amazon for it. The second was http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LPFUG8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00 Folding Shopping Cart – Versacart Utility Cart – Transport Up to 120 Pounds (Water-Resistant Heavy Duty Canvas) from Versacart. I will refer to it as the Versacart. I paid $59.95 on Amazon. Both carts arrived quickly. Both carts were very easy to assemble and required no tools. The Versacart was easier, only requiring that the front wheels be snapped on. The DLUX required all four wheels, some washers and cotter pins. Depending on your finger strength you may need needle nosed pliers to bend the cotter pins. Both can be assembled in well under 5 minutes. The DLUX is the best cart in that class that I have seen. For the basket style cart it is relatively stable, but still “rickety” – but they all are. The wheel are a hard plastic and do not absorb vibrations very well. The wheels do not pivot so any turns require you to tilt the cart back onto the rear wheels Those rear wheels, however, are large and can be pushed or pulled over curbs or large cracks easily. The handle goes all the way across those the grip is a light plastic and rotates over its shaft. If feel a bit cheap but gives you plenty to hold on to. It is also $25 cheaper then the other cart. It isn’t a great cart but I have loaded 100 pounds in it and made the walk several times just fine. It folds very easily in to a flat rectangle and can be stored next to a washer or against any wall or under a bed just fine. It is also very light weight. The Versacart is my go-to. Each of the four wheels is actually a double wheel, rubberized tire setup. The front wheels pivot a full 360 degrees – no tilting back needed to make turns. The cart is heavier than the DLUX since the frame and cargo bag are heavier. The bag is slightly more water resistant – though neither are water proof. While the design of the Versacart would seem not to offer as much support, I feel it is every bit as supportive as the DLUX. It folds in to more of an oversized umbrella shape – both front to back and side to side. Again it can be stored almost anywhere, but it is not as flat and would not fit next to a washer, for example – but easily in the corner of a closet. It is heavier to lift, but easily manageable unless the person is say an elderly woman where every ounce makes a difference. I am not fond of the grips since they are lighter weight than I would like. When loaded they tend to twist and I feel like they may break – but unless the cart is routinely used at maximum capacity this isn’t likely. All four wheel sets are the same size as well – small. Lifting over curbs is not as easy as the DLUX. The design is essentially taken from baby stroller designs instead of the traditional folding basket. It is a modern update in my opinion. Having used both for about two months now I believe the Versacart will last longer, is easier to maneuver, has a slightly large capacity and is better at resisting water. If you need this on a daily basis then I strongly recommend spending the extra money and being done with it. If it is for occasional use and the walk isn’t as bad and you do not need to dodge other people so maneuverability isn’t as much of an issue, the DLUX is a very usable cart. Hope this helps!

I LOVE this cart
I LOVE this cart! I ordered it because: 1) It didn't have to be put together, which was great. I just snapped on the wheels, which took about 30 seconds, and it was ready to use. 2) It's small. It folds like an umbrella stroller, so it's easy to fit in my closet and my car's trunk. 3) It's lightweight, I have no problem carrying it down four flights of stairs to the car. 4) It holds a lot! I can load it up! I can easily fit four large water bottles, plus 4-6 bags of groceries--no problem! Also small furniture! See photo of the cart loaded with large lamp shades and patio chairs, with several heavy bags underneath. 5) It's easy to steer. I have a long walk from the car to the elevator over a narrow, winding path paved with rough concrete and stone tiles. I had been using a grocery cart, which seemed to have a mind of its own and veer off course. But with this cart, I just zip right along. No problem! 6) It's quiet! The rubber wheels are almost silent, which I'm sure my neighbors appreciate as I roll it down the long hallway. 7) It has a top. If you get caught in a downpour, there's a flap you can pull over the top of the bag. I've been using this for over a month on all my shopping trips and I can't say enough good things about it! It's perfect!

Very happy I splurged.
I already owned a very nice metal cart with front-swivel wheels, which I remember costing $35 a couple of years ago. But it had troubles collapsing flat, and when flat is so big that it consumed most of the floor space in my trunk. When I saw how much this collapsed, I couldn't resist, although $56 gave me pause. I was hoping that it would fit into my trunk off to one side, but it's actually a bit long for that. However, even when laying at an angle, it leaves plenty of space. I have fairly large reusable grocery bags (about a 1/2" wider than paper bags), so large that if overfilled I couldn't get 2 of them to share the bottom of my metal cart. I just ran some trials with empty bags in this cart. 2 paper bags will fit in one direction only; see attached photos (the cart handles are on the right). I doubt I'll ever have reusable bags so tidily filled that 2 will fit on the bottom (although they do fit when empty). So I'll try to make sure the first bag can have others stacked on top, where it is roomy enough for 2. I've also saved an Amazon shipping box, size 1B2, which is 3.5" high and fits very well at the bottom. This will elevate things enough to fit 2 bags, but still have the top of the bags under the cover. Also possible according to the photos of another reviewer: hanging a bag on each handle, or on top of the cover, although I haven't tried either with anything heavy yet. The wheels navigate well over the uneven pavement from car to elevator, and over the 3/4" high metal track for the garage security gate. Highly recommended.

77 year old mother loves it!
My 77 year old mother lives in a retirement community center that has nearby shopping centers that are walking distance. Even though she enjoys walking it was getting more difficult for her to carry her groceries or carrying her laundry back n forth, n the utility cart she had at the time was more difficult n a hassle to use. While shopping with my mother we notice another elder lady using the versacart n I had to ask her about it. She said she got it as as gift so she didn't know where her daughter purchased it from, and she went on how she loved it n what she uses it for. She let my mom try it out to experience how easy it was to munover. So when we got home I started doing some research on line a came across it on Amazon. I'm glad I chose this seller cuz any questions or concerns I had they were quick to respond n resolve. It was delivered before the date n my mother said all she had to do was pull it out of box, put on front wheels, n unfold it with a push down of her foot. She says it's light weight n easy to use. She uses it for grocery shopping, laundry, n to carry her items when she gives communion at convalescent centers and volunteers at her church 5-6 days a week. This review is coming from my 77 year old mother who has scoliosis and arthritis so if she can use it, store it, and take it apart if need be to clean it, then anyone can do/use it!

Granny cart and I don't care
This product changed my life. For months I was carrying bags and bags of groceries across a huge parking lot and then had to endure a 4-floor elevator ride, all the while the bags were digging into my arms and straining my back. And then on the days when the elevator was out of order it was even worse. I felt a little silly, ordering a "granny cart" when I'm a perfectly capable 24-year-old, but really this helps when you do big grocery trips and don't live in a house yet. This has literally saved me a lot of pain. The cart itself looks like a stroller when it's all bundled up. It's really easy to fold out and then pack up again, and not heavy to lift at all. The wheels look like they could withstand going over rocks for a short period of time (I mean like the pebbles that apartments sometimes have), and it turns really well. The fabric on the cart is a sturdy, durable kind that you can even take out and wash if it gets messy from a trip. There's a little flap that can go over the top if it's raining. I've fit a whole week's worth of groceries and two 24-packs of soda into this, so it's pretty large. The bottom is really sturdy, so I was able to layer with my heavy-to-lighter items. This works really well and is so worth the price. It's not worth it to strain your back and bruise your arms with mountains of groceries or make 5 trips up to the 4th floor.

Would be perfect...if wheels were spaced further apart.
I live across from Kroger and use this to walk over and shop for groceries. Love this thing! The only complaint I have is that since I'm tall (5'8)...I have a long stride and sometimes my foot will hit the wheel as I walk. It would be perfect if the wheels were spaced a little wider apart. It's very lightweight and easy to carry down the stairs at my apartment and it's great that it folds up. I store it in my pantry and it takes up hardly any room! I'll be getting a lot of use out of this!

I loved this cart
I loved this cart, it really transports 120 pounds or even more. Excellent product, I don't have a car, so I normally take the bus, and it fixs just perfect on the bus, and getting into the groceries store everyone likes it.

Great cart!
I've been shopping on Amazon for years but this is the first time I've been moved enough by a product to write a review. The Versacart is FANTASTIC. I went grocery shopping with it - I walked to and from a supermarket 10 minutes away - and it held a heaping amount of goods, as you can see in the first two photos. It carried six half-gallon containers of soy milk, a carton of a dozen eggs, about eight cans, lots of veg (potatoes, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and more), several packs of frozen meat, and much more! The Versacart managed the weight with ease. It was a breeze to push and didn't wobble at all. The 'basket' is very sturdy and tough. Looks like it'll last a while. I also use it to tote laundry. It's an all-around excellent and reliable cart you'll use for many purposes.

Question is what can it not hold?
Ok so I've had this cart for literally 3 years meaning I purchased it on October 2014. And it's still working!!!! Living in an aprtement, I can't imagine my life without this little (yet sturdy) cart! It helped me transport my grocery at least 500 times in these three years and I had no problem with it at all. Reason that I decide to leave a review after three years of purchase is when I came back to buy another one, I saw bad reviews here. Not sure how those people had bad experiences with it but I love it! It made my life so much easier! And look at the pictures, tell me what it cannot hold??
