EDIT April 22, 2019: The company has been very helpful and fixed the problem described below. They have been contacting me to make sure they understood the problem and have both fixed it and sent me a new upgraded unit that displays the alarm sensor number for a full minute after hearing my feedback. I can now fully recommend the product and Hosmart as a company. Rating changed to five stars. Thank you Sherry at Hosmart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The product works as described and seems to be of good quality. It gives false alarms sometimes due to sunlight or animals but that is to be expected. There is just one thing that drives me crazy and that is when one of the sensors triggers the base unit only show you the number of the sensor for a couple of seconds. So if you are not staring at it you will miss what sensor triggered. A small firmware update so that the number would stay lit a minute or two and this product would be almost perfect. It is such a shame. If someone enters my property I want to be able to check where he/she is but that is impossible if you are not looking directly at the unit. So annoying!

Works great!!! I placed sensor 1/4 mile away and it alerts every time I have a visitor.

I really like that Hosmart is offering a sensor with the Solar charging feature so I don't have to be concerned with manually recharging the batteries. Fortunately, they also retained the "USB charging port" should the weather not provide enough ambient light to activate solar charge feature (extended periods of dense fog, heavy snow, etc.). The battery pack they are using is Li-Ion which has some integrated circuitry that probably is a charge controller function so the batteries receive proper charge & do not over charge. I think of it as a "smart battery pack". Battery pack It is very well packaged in foil/cellophane which should protect it from any condensation, etc. I have "temporarily located" this sensor in full sunshine area on top of a well-head on an embankment overlooking our driveway. If that location proves to be ideal I will remove the rear mounting plate and use industrial Velcro on bottom to attach it on well-head cap. If not, I might paint the sensor black (after masking off the solar panel, eye and USB plug) and locate it on my black gate post at driveway entrance so it blends in with gate (stealth). The distances I have tested it at are 300' and 700' and it trips the receiver alarm reliably. Tip: If you don't want the red led light to display when triggered you can use channel 3 or 4 which are stealth modes (no light emitted through eye).

Used this product as an automatic door alert. My home has a metal roof and other models were very problematic on wireless signals being received at base station. This unit was easy to install and has the added feature of solar charging. Chime is a pleasant tone and easily recognized among the other tones in the home and is heard throughout the home and can be turned down for conversation. Excellent for use in an RV or Camper where security of the area is required.

I bought one of these for my drive way about three weeks ago. It was a little difficult to put the back cover/mounting-plate on. Plus if you do not have the center screw that is in the swivel tightened just right, the sensor will not stay in place. So you must take the back cover/ mounting-plate off to tightening the screw. I am sure that design is to make the sensor is water tight. I followed the instructions of charging the rechargeable battery for at least seven hours. I mounted the sensor and was satisfied with the sensor and receiver. So much so I bought two more to be mounted in areas where I wanted an alert when animals passed in front of the sensors. The rating of up to 1/4 mile maybe true, if the sensor to receiver is line of sight with little or no vegetation obscuring the signal. Normally sensors for my animal alerts are triggered at least 4-5 times per day. I am into day one of overcast and rain. I noticed no signals from ANY of the three sensors where I would normally be alerted to animals on trails or cars coming down my long country drive way. My conclusion is the batteries are dead or water got to the circuit board or the solar charger is under designed or a combination. I believe as usual the design is sound but the manufacturer “made in China” (printed on the box) uses the cheapest components as possible. Thus the product does not perform as advertised or designed. Update: After one day of sunshine the sensors are working. Update 2: I give the Hosmart customer service team five stars and the product three stars. The sensors are sporadic in sending a signal to the receiver.

We were having a HUGE problem with people coming onto our property and walking through our garage. In a small town in the middle of nowhere, this was not okay. We had a local security company come out but they didn't want to do the work to install a driveway alarm so I took things into my own hands. I installed this on the beginning of the VERY long driveway and have the alarm in my house. I love how accurate it is, no false alarms yet, and it gives me that piece of mind I have needed. Now not only can I greet the intruder before they decide to enter into our garage, I'm also able to grab license plate #'s for the police :) Win win!

Someone broke into my truck one night, so installed this sensor on the back of my mailbox post facing the driveway. It is adjustable so it covers the whole driveway and then some. I put the speaker in the living room. It works fantastic. It goes off when someone takes one step in my driveway. Cats, wind, or leaves or stuff wont set it off which is cool. Volume is adjustable, but I keep it loud. It will wake me up all the way in the bedroom. I can't wait until the next person comes up pulling on door handles around here.

Our testing phase is complete at the three week mark. RESULTS: The unit false alarms once per day between 9:00am and 10:00am. We have determined that this is when the heat of the day begins to rise (we are located in central Florida). No false alarms at night - which is a very good thing! Every single heat producing entity that passes the transmitter triggers the alarm (vehicles, people, dogs, lawn mowers, etc). This is pretty much what we wanted. I had a previous driveway alarm that reacted to electromagnetic disruption. Honestly, I liked that one better because it only reacted to vehicles - but when the weather changed to stormy it would false alarm too. And it would often false alarm in the middle of the night for no apparent reason which was very irritating. SO, you are going to get false alarms no matter what unit you choose. We will keep this unit and are pleased with the heads-up it gives us for things coming down the driveway despite the false alarms.

Both detector and receiver work really well. We like the solar panel added to the motion sensor. We mounted it on a pole next to a busy road which has a lot of vehicles in each hour (i.e., high vehicle volume). Without the solar panel, the battery inside depletes in few days in this environment. With the solar panel, the detector detects vehicles continuously, day and night, and never stops detecting. Compared to other similar products we bought before, this product is compact, portable and reliable. We strongly recommend this product!

I don't normally write reviews but after this morning I had to write one for this driveway alarm. I was woken up at 5:50 this morning by my driveway alarm going off. I almost didn't get up thinking it was a squirrel since they set if off occasionally. Thankfully I woke up, looked out the window and saw the interior light on in my vehicle. Long story short, my vehicles were broken into and the thief had entered my yard from the neighbors yard but exited through my driveway setting off the driveway alarm and waking me up. Thankfully, he was caught shortly after exiting my driveway, but not before making his way a mile down my street and breaking into numerous vehicles. If it wasn't for this driveway alarm, my house wouldn't have been the last one he hit and he probably would have gotten away with it. Needless to say, my neighbors are all asking for the link for this item so they can order one as well. Only con is the annoying alarm sounds/bells, etc. But, had they not been loud and annoying, they may not have woken me up.
