This just what I wanted. I recently went back to playing my classical guitar and wanted to listen to the tapes and cds I have of classical guitar musicians. The sound quality is wonderful.

For Its Size, A Good CD/Tape Player With A Wide Range of Functions

This would be a good choice for those seeking a small CD/Tape Player. It is powered by regular household AC (cord included) or by 6 C batteries (not included). It is only about 9 inches across and less than 9 inches front to back. The 2.5 inch speakers deliver good sound and there is very little distortion, even at high volume levels. In addition to CDs, it can play cassette tapes and AM/FM radio stations. Its rear panel includes 3.5mm jacks for headphones and auxiliary devices. With an appropriate cable inserted in the headphone jack, sound can be fed to an outside amplifier and delivered through an outside speaker system. Using the auxiliary jack, sound from an outside source (phonograph turntable, television, etc.) can be played on this CD/Tape Player and recorded on its tape deck. Possible concerns: Naturally, the unit’s small speakers do not deliver the same range of frequencies as large speakers. The controls for the CD player, although well marked and accessible, are rather small. Three controls are mounted on the side of the unit, and thus not easily visible from the front. FM and AM frequencies are imprinted on the top of the radio tuning dial. (The radio seems to lock in stations fairly well.) The function control switch settings can be viewed only from the side. The visibility of the volume control dial is less of a concern. The tape player shuts off automatically when it has played to the end of a tape. But the shutoff function is activated by a sensor that is raised by the tape pressure that results when the player reaches the end of a tape (thus the unit does not shut off when a tape has been fast forwarded or reversed to its end). There can be problems because the tape player may continue to operate if the take-up spindle is jammed or tape gets wrapped around the capstan. A better shutoff system operates when the take-up spindle senses resistance from any cause—in other words, if the take-up spindle cannot rotate, the unit stops.

Very good value

My husband wanted a radio that got better reception than the rinky-dinky models we already have. But I didn't want to spend a ton of money for a big sound system that we wouldn't even know how to operate. So I bought this one and my husband really likes it. We live quite a ways out in the country so reception can be hit-and-miss - especially at night. But this radio has exceeded my expectations. If you want a system with various components with a lot of specialty tuning, sound, downloading and playing options, this will disappoint. But if you want an affordable radio to hear clear AM/FM and play CD's, this is a great buy.

Many features in small package

When my boom box died research led to the Jensen with AM/FM/Cassette/CD or MP3 and although this is a rather small unit sound quality is excellent and all systems work properly. I was especially concerned about playing CD's and recording them on cassette tape since I refuse to give up my Sony Walkman. I also purchased an extended warranty just in case. Good buy. I love my little boom box. It's everything I expected. The sound is great! It's so handy to use. The silver and black exterior makes it fit in with any décor. I purchased this based on the reviews that were posted...I am so glad you offer reviews..it has helped me avoid some bad purchases as well as make up my mind to buy good ones.

Excellent Quality!

This Jensen CD player is exactly what I was hoping for! Very sturdily built. Easy to operate. I love the small size! Great sound on FM stereo radio stations. Crisp sound for listening to books on CD. That is mostly what I bought it for but I wanted the cassette option also. Great value for the price! So glad I searched for the perfect CD player for me!

Although it is smaller than I had it in my minds eye it works well and the sound is amazing for a little guy! I’d buy it again!
