I rarely call a kitchen pan innovative, but this one definately is, many stove top uses.
I have a grill pan, one I got from Amazon nearly a decade ago, and it is decent, but I have to line it with foil or it's a pain to clean. It's heavy, heavy as the large cast iron skillets, and it was expensive as well. It was shallow, with no lid, and one of the few uses I've brought it out for is grilling pre-cooked brats, and for grilled veggies. I really like the grill marks and the taste of grilled food, and the BBQ weather around here is a short season, so indoor grilling is the ticket. All that said this pan solves a lot of my grill cooking woes. It's light, easy to manipulate, and comes with two silicon grippers to pick it up by the side handles without burning yourself. Something most of these side handle pans neglect. I don't have to go to the trouble of putting on and off my two oven gloves to move the pan or adjust it over the flame. If you are not a fan of flame, this has a core that is magnetic so it will work with induction cookers, just like the heavy cast iron pans. A very innovated part is the lid with maybe a thousand tiny holes, it looked like the filter for a high speed juicer. The goal is not to filter veggie juice here, but to stop splatter, allow moisture to escape to allow things like breaded fish or chicken to cook up crispy and not soggy. Cleaning is easy, it did not require me to line it with foil, the surface wiped clean with a sponge. I would recommend cleaning between uses, while this does not require seasoning to maintain the non-stick surface, and can be cleaned with soap it can stick if treated wrong. Every time you cook in a dirty pan you denature the grease, so it bonds stronger to the non-stick surfaces. Eventually, it will take a lot of work to clean. Note, the seal silicon around the outer edge of the lid may come off if pulled at, so I don't like the way its bonded. It's not as strong as my glass and silicon multi-fit lids. Taste is very good, I love the grill marks and can now effortlessly do my brats and veggies with those nice grill marks, but I can do hamburgers, chicken breasts, salmon, or cook breaded versions of the same (well maybe not the hamburger). It's especially nice with seasoned asparagus spears. I had them at a fancy restaurant some years ago, and my old grill pan does not do them justice, but they cooked fast with no stick on this, and the grill came out fairly good. I can let this heat up more too, with the other which I lined with foil to avoid an hour of scrubbing, I was afraid of melting the foil with too much sustained heat. I once forgot an aluminum egg poacher pan on the stove, and the metal melted holes in the pan after the water was steamed off. Anyway this answers my question will this pan be something I use frequently, or is it just the latest fad to end up on the shelf (I unfortunately have things like a hotdog toaster). It seems it will get a lot of use, so I give it a strong recommend.

MasterPan Works!
Nicely constructed, flat bottom so I can use it on our glass-top stove. It grills meats perfectly. The no-spatter lid is a great addition!

Pleasantly Surprising
I have quite a few nice skillets and pans that I've collected through the years. I have a smaller, cast iron "panini" pan that has grill ridges on the bottom and press but doesn't have the capacity or flexibility that this one has. I like this pan a lot, and I like the unique lid every bit as much. It's a neat, very useful set! In the few months that I've had it, I've used it for a number of normal things, such as burgers and chicken breasts. It heats evenly and I really love the lid, which I even use on other skillets at times. It helps keep spattering down to a minimum. The little handles do get really hot so you need to have the silicone cover/grips handy to move or lift the pan. I forgot once and was quickly reminded by pain, which taught me a lesson. Definitely watch closely if you have curious, grabby little ones nearby when cooking. They both clean up easily, either by hand or in the dishwasher (lid mainly). This is a large, well made, nicely functioning grill pan and lid that I think is well priced for a set. Being aluminum, it's not as heavy as cast iron which can be an important consideration for many.

easy and splatter-free stovetop grilling
This is an excellent ridged pan that simplifies grilling. The base plate spreads heat evenly and efficiently, so you don't need high heat, 60-90 seconds at medium high will bring it up to speed. It is indeed non-stick and easy to clean, and the lid not only releases moisture but serves as a good splatter shield. The pan's size is ample enough for most steaks or cutlets, and won't need much oil to get the desired effect. The grid leaves nice grill marks on food. As it is a non-stick surface, users should only use wood, plastic (heat resistant) or silicon utensils, though tongs, if blunt and carefully handled, should cause no problems either. The instructions are helpful and there are two silicon grips if you need to move a hot pan (the handles are metal); the instructions suggest that you do pick up the pan if you need to move it on a glass stovetop. In all, a simple and well-made way to grill food, and keeps things pretty well splatter-free and easy to clean. Highly recommend.

I love this stove top oven!
WIth summer coming on soon, nothing is worse than getting your hose all heated up with turning on the oven. I have a very small kitchen and so when I turn on the oven, it really makes a big difference in the temperature of my living room which is adjacent to the kitchen. It also runs up my electric bill as I am trying to keep the house cool. So, I am looking forward this summer to not only keeping my electric bill down, but to enjoy some food that I probably would not fix during the summer because I do have to turn on the oven. This is just a "sexy" item if I might add. I love the lid with its stainless steel and it just looks sleek. It is heavy, but not too heavy. The grill pan feature is great (as I have one of those and love it). It also reminds me of some pans that my grandmother had when I was younger as the inside has those little white speckles that some of the older cookware used to have. It comes with two rubber (I say that for lack of really knowing what the material is) pot holders so that you can lift the handles of the pan (because it is a stovetop oven and the handles will get extremely hot). Bottom line, I love it and look forward to a lot of use during the coming warmer months!

great pan
it's like a stove top oven! the tiny lid holes allow steam to escape so the food does not become soggy.

Interesting pan for indoor grilling
This is a very interesting pan. Making burgers on the grill during the summer is fun, but who wants to grill on a day like today when it's cold, blustery, and grey? I normally avoid grilling indoors because burgers on the broiler have a tendency to set off the smoke alarm and cleaning the broiler pan is a pain. I was pleasantly surprised with this stovetop oven grill pan. I was able to grill three big burgers with room left over on my stovetop with ease. The grill ribs were enough to keep the burgers from being the greasy mess you get when pan frying and even added some nice grill marks. It's light weight and heated up quickly and evenly on my glass top stove. The lid is really something different. It thousands of tiny holes that let the steam out as if it's not even there yet keep grease spatters in. I was even more impressed in the cleanup. What was a pool of grease and fat washed off easily with no scrubbing. The handles do get hot, but it comes with silicone grips so that's not an issue. I can't wait to try this with other foods.

The Grill Pan with the Genius Lid
I have never used a grill pan on the stove before. I had considered them, but was afraid of smoking up the house and getting a soggy steak or burger. This grill pan features an ingenious lid that has very small holes all over it. It allows the steam to escape as the food grills. The trick to minimize smoke is, I think, having the grill pan scrupulously clean as you heat it up to a medium high…drops of water bounce---heat. Then rub a bit of olive oil into both sides of the steak (I used 1” thick filets) to be grilled. Add to the pan, put on the genius lid, and set the timer. Turn the steak over after four minutes and grill the other side four minutes minimum and more if needed for those who prefer a medium to well done steak. Take care to not prick the meat with a fork to turn – use your tongs. After cooking, let the meat stand for five minute before serving to allow the juices to redistribute. This is exactly what I did. And, I removed the silicone edging from the lid and washed it and the pan in the dishwasher. I was so pleased with the result, and the house was not smoky at all. As I said I think a scrupulously clean preheated grill surface is key. The silicone edging for the lid fits a little loosely. While it is not essential to the functionality of the pan, it is a nice touch. And, I do have to say that I was unsure from the packaging and instructions if this grill pan was safe to use on our glass top stove. I contacted Masterpan Customer Service. The gentleman who handled the question asked in particular which pan I was using and let me know right away that it was safe to use on our stove. He was extremely polite via email and answered promptly and politely. Great customer service worthy of applause.

Far superior to my heavy, long-handled grill pan
This pan is so versatile! I've been trying to pare down my kitchen and keep multi-use items rather than single-use ones that take up space in my small space. This pan is awesome. What I like: - two short handles instead of one long handle makes it easier to store and to lift - lightweight so that when full of food I can still pick it up - oven safe to 480ºF - that lid--I like using it to keep my tortillas warm, to prevent spattering when cooking bacon, and allowing steam to escape while keeping foods crisp (WARNING: the silicone ring around the edge comes off very easily; it's not absolutely necessary to keep on in order to use the lid itself) - it is stick-resistant - very easy to clean: not only the surface, but again because of the two side handles it fits in my sink better to wash - the grill ribs are not too high so food gets more evenly cooked, even grill cheese sandwiches and sautéed veggies - the included silicone grabbers are great for this pan and all my other pans' helper handles - the smooth bottom is fine on my glass top range - the price is very reasonable for what you get I highly recommend this pan!!
