I am really glad that the did not look at the reviews before purchasing. Yes it's a cheap product but if you are not rough and take care of it, it turns out really nicely and looks fantastic! Putting it together took a couple hours by myself, but then again I've only ever put together a small ferret cage so this was also a learning experience. If you pile big heavy books on the upper shelfs, yes it will bow. But if you read the instructions heavier objects should be placed on the bottom. This is the problem with the other negative reviews, they are left by people who do not know how to read the instructions! Overall I'm very happy with this product (:

First, let me say this is not a high end item. It is laminated particle board, so I did not expect it to be a fine piece of furniture. I bought two of these for my daughter's room for her books and toys. For $60, they are actually pretty great. They are easy to assemble and quite sturdy. The bottom shelf, top of the cabinet, and center shelf are all fixed, but the other two shelves are adjustable. That's nice too. As a side note, I originally found these book shelves on Kohl's web site for about $120 each. Finding them on Amazon for so much cheaper is great.

Kinda easy to assemble. Very sturdy. It's under my tv because my living room setting is strange. But my tv is mounted. Wouldn't recommend any heavy things on the shelves just the bottoms. Although it seems sturdy enough. Everyone's reviews were commenting on how it starts to bend. I probably have around 10-30 pounds on each shelf and it's holding up perfect. I made holes in the back to hide my tv and console cables. Looks great!!

I've had this bookcase for over 5 months, it went through a moving with me recently and seriously, it looks just like when I first got it. Shiny, sturdy and cute. Perfect size, not too big, not too small, not too heavy. Wood is nice and thick, I put all together by myself when I was 8 months pregnant and took me 25 minutes. I highly recommend it. Very nice buy! Worth every penny!

I ordered this bookshelf along with the 5-shelf bookshelf and matching desk to go in our new home office. We selected the cherry color for all of the pieces and the color is beautiful. The bookcase is very sturdy, the shelves are wide but don't bend in the middle under the weight of the books as some bookcases do; the shelves are also deep enough that larger books like anthologies and textbooks fit easily on the shelf without hanging off the edges. Directions for setting up the bookcase were very simple and easy to follow. We are very pleased with this order and would purchase this product again.

For the price, this is an excellent book shelf! I am a petite woman and assembled it myself, while my husband was at work. The instructions were easy to follow and I had no issues with assembly. Please note: the directions state not to use a drill. This is very important, as that is what causes the screws to go in at the wrong angle and push through the side of the shelves. Use a screwdriver and go slowly, so you can feel that the screw is in the predrilled hole. Each shelf is rated at 15 lbs, but I am sure my books weigh more than that. No buckling or signs of sagging, although I'm sure they will over time and I'll have to replace the shelves. However, it looks great in my space and the price was amazing!

The price was right and it was easy to put together. I'm a petite woman and did it all by myself. Lol. The trick is dragging the heavy box is comes in, into your house and unpacking. Whew! Lots of packaging. Lay it flat and just pull the pieces out one at a time. Construct it on the floor close to wear it will live. I followed the directions and everything lined up perfectly. Its not high end. But it does the job. I have it in my office and was able to get a lot of books on the shelf as needed for awhile. The price is right.

We bought this for our small professional office. My ten year old daughter put it together (under supervision) with no issues. A drill/automatic screw driver of some sort is very useful for the assembly process. It looks great and is exactly what we expected. I'm considering buying a second so we can place them side by side for additional room. The top and bottom shelf are adjustable height while the middle is fixed for additional stability. It was easy to transport assembled, we put it together at home and then moved it to the office with no issues at all. Good product for less than we could find something similar at local chain stores.

After reading multiply reviews stating the box or product was damage, I was a little nervous on buying. I still went ahead and bought it. When it arrived the box was actually in great shape and product was not damaged! Building this bookcase was actually a walk in the park compared to other furniture I have built. The instructions at first seemed externally overwhelming but once I realized the parts are actually labeled for you, it went super fast. It took me maybe less then 45 minutes (power tool kept running out of battery and couldn't find my hammer for a good 10-15 minutes. ) I'm very happy with my final product!

Love these bookcases! I have five of them---three of the tall 5-shelf, one of the medium 4-shelf, and two of the tall, narrow ones. I also have the tall, narrow version in white. (Plus, I bought a set of the matching nightstands!) Not one of these bookcases has let me down. They're relatively easy to assemble, especially if you're familiar with do-it-yourself furniture. Each one took my husband about an hour, give or take. The 4-shelf one was the easiest, since it's short. He assembled it on his own, without any help from me, which should tell you how easy they are to put together. The color is a gorgeous deep cherry wood. Very rich and luminous. There's one shelf that's permanently attached, while the others can be adjusted. The adjustable pegs are clear, so they vanish against the wood. There's a narrow decorative panel that goes across the top, kind of a lip that fits underneath the top of the bookcase. It's a simple design detail, but it looks great! However, it limits the height of the objects you can place on the top shelf. My husband thought it was a pain to install, so the first bookcase he put together doesn't have the decorative panel. I asked him to install them on the others, though, just because I think it looks a lot nicer. (And now my bookcases don't quite match, which irks me deeply. I'm a bit OCD about things matching.) The bookcase includes a safety bracket, which you can screw to a stud in your wall, to prevent it from tipping over. This is recommended if you have pets that jump on the furniture, or young children that might try to climb the bookcase, or if you live in earthquake country, or if your floors aren't level. NOTE: Don't attach the bracket the way the directions show, or the bracket will be glaringly obvious. The bracket is steel, it doesn't match the wood color, so you don't want to put it inside the bookcase, where it'll show. Instead, attach it to the top of the bookcase, where you can hide it behind something, like a decorative box, or whatever. (I looked up a video on how to do this, and it makes a lot more sense than the way the directions show!) I can't stress enough how lovely these bookcases are. My bedroom used to be a disaster zone, filled with piles of books, and boxes filled with books, all over the place. Now I have three tall bookcases and one medium bookcase, which makes the bedroom look very sophisticated and elegant, especially since I didn't fill every shelf to bursting. I left some open gaps, and I put some candles and decorative objects in the corners, so they look really nice. No more boxes of books! (Well, except in the garage. . . .) My bedroom now looks amazing! Thank you, South Shore! Five stars and highly recommended to anyone who needs a high-quality bookcase.
