Ordered the Smart WiFi garage door opener on a lightning deal and I am impressed. The installation was straightforward and smart phone / tablet functionality is perfect. Everyone in the house with the app on a smart device can open/close the door as well as receive notifications when the door is opened and closed via the app or existing remotes. The timer for when the door is left open for a programmable period is a great way to make sure the door gets closed. There’s also a separate alarm if it open after a certain hour. It works with Google Assistant as well. The integration with Google Home is in the works and I’ll look forward to that as well. I think it’s a huge plus that the device is hubless and easily connected to my existing WiFi. Based on this experience I will certainly be looking into some of the other Meross products.

The hardware and Meross app are well-designed and easy to install, and they work as intended with my Marantec garage door opener. WiFi setup is easy. I have no complaints with the basic capabilities. This is exactly the device that I was looking for ever since moving into a new home with a garage door. 2019.04.19 UPDATE: Google Assistant support now works PERFECTLY! "Open Garage Door, Close Garage Door, Is my garage door open/closed?" Bravo! There are always limitations for garage door controllers that can only simulate a button click, which is overloaded with go up/go down/stop/etc. commands, but the Meross integration between the door closed sensor and the open/close commands makes this device appear pretty well-integrated. It also provides a good indication that the garage door is actually closed, which is the most important state information to get right. When I turn the "door left open for 15 minutes" notification on, I do sometimes get this reported when the garage door is actually closed (and even when Meross properly notified me that the door was closed. There may be a bug in that area. Overall, this is an excellent easy-to-install smart home device with an above-average app. Guided install through the app is very well done, although I note that even when I provided the exact Marantec model number, the app did not show the pin connections to which it should be attached. I had to figure out by trial and error where to connect (there are more pins and wires connected to mine than shown in the app - unlabeled by Marantec, of course! - and the "obvious" two pins were not an open/close contact-type switch connection). I also fault Marantec for having terrible documentation and zero labelling on the opener itself. But, I note that their customer support has been trying to improve this, and has even sent messages with updated information and advice.

Followed the instructions in the Meross IOS App and Installation was straight forward and easy. Since this product was just released, there is still some work to be done to the Google Home, Alexa, and IFTTT integrations. The company has acknowledged this and working on it. I knew this going in so I'm not going to hold it against them quite yet. time will tell. The product itself along with the IOS app has worked flawlessly in the 3 days I've had it installed. I like the fact that it is hardwired into the garage door opener instead of being setup/programmed as another garage door wireless remote, like the Chamberlain. One note, my GDO was not listed as compatible with this unit but it worked just fine. I have an "Overhead Door Standard" garage door opener.

I started using Meross smart plugs several months ago, and I love them. When I decided to get a smart garage door controller I was happy to discover that Meross sells this one. I wasn't so happy with the $80 price tag, which seems excessive, but I wanted the reliability I've enjoyed with my other Meross products, so I bought this one anyway. Adding it to my existing Meross app was incredibly easy. After using it for 2 days the Opened and Closed notifications got a bit annoying, but they were very easy to disable. I love the DOOR NOT CLOSED notification though. It lets me know if I've forgotten to close the door after a specific period of time. And I love being able to open the app and verify that the door is closed without needing to drive back to my house or call a neighbor or walk to the garage. My ONLY complaint would be that the poor instructions made the physical installation harder than it needed to be. First of all, my garage door wasn't included in their list of compatible garage doors, and the followup jumper wire test they describe didn't match the contacts available on my 20 year old LyftMaster/Chamberlain opener. Meross should add a note to say if your opener has a manual push button that is hardwired to the opener, to use the jumper wire across those contacts on the opener to determine compatibility. I also had a clearance problem installing the magnetic sensors. The cryptic translated instructions basically said to install them on the top of the door within 1 1/4. My sectional door first moves up before it starts to swing in, which didn't leave enough clearance between the top of the door and the wired portion of the sensor mounted to the garage wall above the door. I spent a lot of time looking for an alternative site for the sensors but couldn't find one. I finally positioned the sensors on top of the door so there was never less than 1/4" clearance between the door and the sensor when the door was opening or closing. When closed, the sensors were about 1 1/2" apart. Fortunately, this was close enough and it has been working flawlessly. Installation issues aside, I am very happy with this purchase and with all of the Meross products I've purchased so far.

This MSG100 is a great device. It will momentarily close the contacts to open or close the garage door, just like your garage door switch. There is also a magnetic switch that will sense if the garage door is closed or not. The smart phone app allows you to see if the door is open or closed in addition to opening or closing the door. The app can also be set to alert you when the door opens or closes and/or to alert you when the door has been left open for more than a certain time limit. Installation was simple. The MSG100 can be mounted to the opener with foam tape, but I opted to fasten a 1x4 across the rafters and mounted the MSG100 to it with screws. That way, I can replace the garage door opener without having to remove it. Once mounted, you only need to make two connections. First, connect two wires across the terminals for signaling the door to open or close. Second, run the wires for the magnetic sensor to tell if the door is closed. You also have to plug it in for power. Then you have to install the app on your smart phone. Basically, you temporarily set your phone to talk to the MSG100's WIFI so you can enter the password for your local WIFI. Then you set it back and are ready to go. The WIFI signal in my garage is very weak but the MSG100 takes very little band width so it operates well even with very little signal. After hitting the button to open or close, there is sometimes a delay of 2 or 3 seconds before it starts. I believe this could be eliminated by adding a repeater between the router and the MSG100. This company also makes WIFI outlets and switches. All the devices are shown on the smart phone app. I do not have Alexa or Google Assistant, so cannot vouch if it works with those devices.

I wasn't sure at first it would work on my 6 month old 8500 Lift-master side mount opener, that was supposed to be WIFI but the contractor screwed that up, Lift master 8500 is not listed on the application sheet. Only made sense if the leads test right that it would work. They are just marked different. the first two leads to from left to right on the front of the opener. As for setting this up, i connected to the WIFI sitting at the counter then installed it. the sensors on the door are really important or they won't read position right. i like the APP. because it runs various other items, such as the Meross Smart Plugs. still working on connecting to Alexa. Using it is cool, i tested it across town and my other half said it responded great and i was able to tell position. I am adding another to my second garage door.

I had a similar device by a major company that worked when it wanted to. Constant false alerts that the door was open and the last straw was it refused to work with my new opener at all. I saw this one and decided to try it, glad I did. Setup is easy and straight forward. The app works every time, so far no false notifications. The sensor wire is long enough to place the sensor on the side of my double garage door not the top (cuts the chance of a false open/close due to high winds). When you open the package and meager directions fall out don’t freak, install the application on your phone, choose the garage door opener and the app will display a nice set of instructions. If you wonder whether this will work on your opener, look for the button on the wall you use to open and close your garage door. Informal questionJust two wires? Good chance it will work, now take those two wires off of your button and touch them together, does the opener start running? Does it stop when you touch them again? You have a 99.9% change this device will work on your opener.

This seems to be a great product and value for what it does. The install and setup was very easy to incorporate with my Chamberlan garage door. The only issue I have was the door contact not detecting on the unit itself. I did a loop test back to the unit and was not able to see it on the app when setting it up. I used a fluke multimeter tester to test for continuity on the contact and the contact and cables is working fine. I contacted Meross Support and they requested picture of what I did, which is fine. I'm just waiting for a replacement unit now for a fully functional unit to confirm my garage door open and close via app notification. Currently, the app will open and close my garage door, but kept getting error message due to the unit not detecting the contact. I would give this 5 star if this worked from the beginning, but will wait and see when I receive my replacement unit. Three stars for now for easy install and setup. minus 2 for unit not fully working. Update! 4/25/2019 Meross sent me a replacement fast. Installed and is working great now. Update to give them 5 stars for fast customer service.

So, like everybody else who bought this smart IoT device, I thought well, WTH, let me buy it and will figure it out. I was wrong, not that I didn't know beforehand that my Genie Silentmax 1000 won't work with this device but I thought it will just be splitting some extra wires and re-connecting them back and that would be it. I wish it would be that easy. If you have what is known as rolling code garage door opener with more than one button remote control and the wall consoles (see the pics) then without doing some additional wiring, this device won't work out of the box for you. I am going to walk you through to exactly that and hopefully get it working for you as I did. For starter, I got Genie Silentmax 1000 series garage door opener I bought in 2012. This instruction should work for most of those newer garage door openers which comes with either 3-button or 4-button wall consoles and in-car remotes. Mine has 3-button wall console (see the pic) and 3-button in-car remote control to control the opener (Genie G3T-BX Intellicode (aka rolling code) remote control). At first, I split the wire that runs from the garage opener to the wall console and connecting the signal control wire of the Meross in-between. I could hear the click but other than that it didn't do anything. Now, what?!! I tried what Meross has described on their website when you have one of the incompatible garage openers like I do. Use the extra in-car remote control, open it as you are about to change the battery, figure out which button controls the garage door and solder one wire each to those two endpoints (each remote, regardless of the brand should one point to control the opening and other for the closing the door). This is all fine but if you have printed circuit board like I did (and should be the case for most of the post-2012 models) for my Genie G3T-BX remote control you are out of the luck, there is no button and no soldering point to solder anything! I was determined to make it work so I did a couple of experiments to see what I can do. The result is in the last pic where you can see two wire solder on the printed circuit board itself. You have to be very careful here if you don't solder the wires exactly where I have done, it won't work. Believe me, it took me while with my terrible soldering skills to do the same!! Oh, and you can do that to any button of your remote that open/close the door. I did it for the 1st button because that what I have programmed for the door opener, you can select 2nd or 3rd button, as long as you solder the way I did, it should work. From here, it should be an easy journey for you.
