Pretty fantastic

My husband thought this was a waste of money. HOWEVER he was WRONG!! We had 75 kids of all ages over for a party. I live in Florida and summers are HOT!. I needed something that would hold up to over a 100 guests most of which kids. Boy did this deliver!!!!! Kids dropped the ice in and BOOM-- 1 or 2 seconds the blade shredded through the ice and made snow cones!! It is SUPER FAST, SUPER DURABLE, SUPER EASY to use. My 6 yr old did it (with supervision) with no problem. LOVE the added safety feature. If the handle is to far up it will not engage. So kids had to take out x amount of ice for it to work. LOVED that! Kids used it over and over and it held up very very well. I've used it at multiple parties since. If I had to change anything, I would raise the unit and get rid of the bowl and sitting spot for that bowl. As fast as that is concerned the unit zips through the ice so fast the kids preferred to hold their cup to watch the ice drop in and because it's so hot the ice stuck to the metal bowl. Absolutely one of the best investments I've made for future parties. AND my husband said I was right and loved the kids enjoyed it so much!!!!

Makes excellent shaved ice!

Some of the reviews are mixed, but I have had no issues whatsoever with this. As other reviewers have noted, it takes a bit of the first batch of ice to bring the machine down to temperature. This hasn't been a big concern for me. I would recommend making sure to use very hard, solidly frozen ice. I have a countertop ice maker that I was thinking would be perfect to accompany this. Using the ice from that produces a chunkier, less satisfying shaved ice. Using ice that's been hardened in the freezer produces perfect, fluffy shaved ice. Kids absolutely love this. Very cheap way to have fun all summer long! I am very, very glad I bought this.

I have been looking for one of these for ages! It's so hard to find a snowcone machine that is affordable AND actually makes soft, fluffy snow! I have used it everyday none stop since I got it! So far no mechanical issues. only "issue" is the bowl that comes with doesn't catch the snow well. Eventually I will need to look into the possibility or probability of replacing the part of the machine that shaves the ice, but so far it is holding up to intense use.

Gives almost a snow like texture!

PROs: Delivers a consistent snow-like texture from regular ice cubes very quickly. Ideal for snow-cones, slushes, and margaritas. The safety mechanism is well designed. Very rugged. Very portable. Uses regular AC power. (This does NOT make grainy ice pellets as cheaper snow cone systems do.) CONs: Makes a mess. The bowl is just small enough that a typical "red cup" of ice will overflow it. The ice comes shooting out at a slight angle with a lot of force, making snow splatterings everywhere, which in turns melts rapidly on room temperature surfaces. Kind of loud. While the bowl can be removed, and there's a hole that's about the right size for a cup to fit through, one has to operate the unit hanging over the edge of the counter to do so. Additionally, after cleaning and wiping it down after use, there always appears to be some water in it the next time one goes to put ice in. Most certainly operate this over a towel and allow it to dry out. UNSURE: While I haven't had to change out the blade, I'm not exactly sure how one goes about doing so.

Ok this is one of those moments not to buy things late at night.......................or is it? I bought this on the spur of a moment, my daughter had gotten a Snoopy Snow Cone machine and I thought I wonder if they sell real Ice Shavers for home use that are reasonably priced................ Well as always Amazon had a bunch to choose from. I picked this one as it looked industrial and was reasonably priced. This thing is built like a tank, and makes amazing shaved ice. I of course bought flavorings too :) and now we have shaved ice like at the fair when we want. I have also used it with frozen fruit successfully. This thing is great. Joshua Garfinkle

One of the best purchases I have made on Amazon !!

My 8 year old grandson wanted snowballs at his Birthday Party. So I decide to order this instead of renting a snowball machine from the local rental store. It was a hit everyday my grandkids visit I ask if they want snowballs, even the 2 year old grandson asks for them. I make my own syrups. SO says we nee to make room for it in our camper. I do suggest putting a dish drying mat under it as the unused ice does melt. DIY snowball syrups 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water bring to boil stirring Boil 1 minute remove from heat add 1 packet unsweetened Kool aid or 1/2 teaspoon extract. We made Banana, Cherry, Orange, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Berry Blue.

Excellent product! Definitely recommend

This was the best purchase we have made! My kids love it and so do we! We also make our own syrup to put over the ice. Saves a lot of money doing it at home and is fast and easy. Ice does fly out a little but who cares it's only water. Definitely recommend! How to make sno cone syrup...... Boil 1 cup water then dissolve 2 cups sugar in it over low heat then dissolve one koolaid packet (flavor of your choice .24 cents in Walmart) pour into a bottle and let cool. Enjoy!
