Our 90+ lb German Shepherd/Lab mix loves his food! Been eating it for 3 years and still loves it!
We have a 3 year old 90+ lb German Shepherd/Labrador mix. He is massive and loves to eat, however, he is super picky over his food. From the time he was old enough to start on this food and formula at a few months old, he has loved it and stayed on it. His favorite flavor is Bison or High Prairie formula. We've never seen him have any gastric distress, diarrhea, vomiting, or be sick once (yet - fingers crossed). I feel entirely confident that the ingredients are of high quality and the sources are ethical. I highly recommend this food and company and fully support the grain-free lifestyle choice for my beloved pup.

My fussy dogs love it
Thank you Amazon reviewers for recommending this, my fussy dogs love it! I have two medium size dogs- one is a year old rescue dog and the other is a 15 year old senior dog. Both dogs get sick on wet dog foods, so twice a day I've been feeding them white rice, baby food meat, and cottage cheese (veterinarian recommended). This custom meal was a nuisance to make and the baby food is expensive. What a delight to now feed them dry food again, and they really like the Roasted Bison and Venison! I made my purchased based on the experience of the Amazon reviewers- very grateful! I purchased the smallest bag to see how my dogs would like the flavor and the small bag is lasting a long time, its easy to store in the cupboard, and stays fresh. Most importantly it's not making my dogs sick like other brands of both wet and dry dog food.

Kibble Size: Puppy vs. Canine Formula
Photo comparing kibble size of Puppy Formula and Canine Formula. I couldn't find this information anywhere so I ordered a bag of each to find out.

Cured Penny's Runny Poop
My dog is a pit/lab/shar pei mix and has always had really runny poop. I worked with my vet to help make her poop more regular, though she was otherwise a very healthy dog. My vet tested her for various parasites and dietary or body function disorders, but nothing ever came up. We then tried allergy medicine, but that didn't help, either. I then switched her food to another brand of premium dog food (skin + coat formula), but after nearly a year on the new food, nothing had changed. Finally, I theorized that my dog must be grain or gluten free. I changed her diet to Taste of the Wild by mixing the two foods for a few weeks and then using only Taste of the Wild. Now that she has been eating Taste of the Wild exclusively for a couple of months, her poop has improved and is much more like regular dog poop than runny diarrhea. She seems to like Taste of the Wild a lot more than the previous food, too. This food has worked a miracle with my dog's poop!

The third ingredient is sweet potato. Sweet potatoes are a gluten-free source of ...
The first ingredient in this dog food is buffalo. Although it is a quality item, raw buffalo contains about 80% water. After cooking, most of that moisture is lost, reducing the meat content to just a fraction of its original weight. After processing, this item would probably account for a smaller part of the total content of the finished product. The second ingredient is lamb meal. Lamb meal is considered a meat concentrate and contains nearly 300% more protein than fresh lamb. The third ingredient is sweet potato. Sweet potatoes are a gluten-free source of complex carbohydrates in a dog food. They are naturally rich in dietary fiber and beta carotene. The fourth ingredient is egg product, an unspecified (wet or dry?) form of shell-free eggs. Quality can vary significantly. Lower grade egg product can even come from commercial hatcheries — from eggs that have failed to hatch. In any case, eggs are easy to digest and have an exceptionally high biological value. The fifth ingredient is pea protein, what remains of a pea after removing the starchy part of the vegetable. Even though it contains over 80% protein, this ingredient would be expected to have a lower biological value than meat. And less costly plant-based products like this can notably boost the total protein reported on the label — a factor that must be considered when judging the meat content of this dog food. The sixth ingredient includes peas. Peas are a quality source of carbohydrates. And like all legumes, they’re rich in natural fiber. However, peas contain about 25% protein, a factor that must be considered when judging the meat content of this dog food. The seventh ingredient is potato. Potatoes can be considered a gluten-free source of digestible carbohydrates. Yet with the exception of perhaps their caloric content, potatoes are of only modest nutritional value to a dog. The eighth ingredient is canola oil. Unfortunately, canola can be a controversial item. That’s because it can sometimes (but not always) be derived from genetically modified rapeseed. Yet others cite the fact canola oil can be a significant source of essential omega-3 fatty acids. In any case, plant-based oils like canola are less biologically available to a dog than fish oil as a source of quality omega-3 fats. The ninth ingredient is tomato pomace. Tomato pomace is a controversial ingredient, a by-product remaining after processing tomatoes into juice, soup and ketchup. Many praise tomato pomace for its high fiber and nutrient content, while others scorn it as an inexpensive pet food filler. Just the same, there’s probably not enough tomato pomace here to make much of a difference. From here, the list goes on to include a number of other items. But to be realistic, ingredients located this far down the list (other than nutritional supplements) are not likely to affect the overall rating of this product. With four notable exceptions… First, flaxseed is one of the best plant sources of healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Provided they’ve first been ground into a meal, flax seeds are also rich in soluble fiber. However, flaxseed contains about 19% protein, a factor that must be considered when judging the actual meat content of this dog food. Next, salmon oil is naturally rich in the prized EPA and DHA type of omega-3 fatty acids. These two high quality fats boast the highest bio-availability to dogs and humans. Depending on its level of freshness and purity, salmon oil should be considered a commendable addition. In addition, chicory root is rich in inulin, a starch-like compound made up of repeating units of carbohydrates and found in certain roots and tubers. Not only is inulin a natural source of soluble dietary fiber, it’s also a prebiotic used to promote the growth of healthy bacteria in a dog’s digestive tract. And lastly, this food contains chelated minerals, minerals that have been chemically attached to protein. This makes them easier to absorb. Chelated minerals are usually found in better dog foods.

Dog and Dog Mom Approved
My 6 year old lab/border collie mix Oliver loves TOTW, especially this flavor. There are 3.5 ounces of food in one cup, so there are 4.57 cups per pound and 137 cups in this 30 lb bag. For my 50 pound pup that gets 2 cups per day, it lasts approximately 68 days. Great deal! I only feed him the formulas with the highest minimum protein level, which would be High Prairie and Wetlands. He eats it eagerly, has tons of energy, no loose stools, bright shining eyes, and a beautiful coat. My pup isn't picky...he would (less enthusiastically) eat dog chow if that's what I gave him. However, I plan on having him around for a long time to come, so the good stuff it is. It's less expensive here on Amazon than at my local feed and seed, and I love the convenience of having it delivered to my door since I work odd hours. I only feel slightly bad for the UPS guy :p. My boy has had dry skin and itchiness in the past, so I love that this food is grain free and nutritious. He also gets coconut oil and some supplements to keep him in tip top shape. I'd highly recommend this food to anybody that wants their dog to have simply the best.

Good product, Ridiculous price jump
Love the dog food, have been purchasing it since June of 2015 for my (now) 13 year old Golden Retriever who was having stomach issues, joint issues, etc. Our vet recommended this product, and it made a huge difference for her. I am very disappointed to see that the price of the product has jumped 13 dollars for the 30 lb bag since I purchased it in December, 2016. I am looking elsewhere for a better price, or will be asking the vet to recommend a different brand.

... Merrick whole earth farms dog food (they are a good brand of dog food as well
We recently had to switch over from Merrick whole earth farms dog food (they are a good brand of dog food as well! I would also recommend them if you are looking for another brand of dog food) because Baldwin, my dog decided that he wanted to be picky and not eat that dog food anymore. I was worried we were not going to be able to find as good of a dog food as Merrick, but I think we did!!! OMG I don't even know where to begin! I just got off the phone with the company and learned so much about dog food I didn't know there was to even know. This dog food is made right here in the USA, Which is important to both my husband and I. They have manufacturers in California, Arkansas, Missouri, South Carolina and I think she said Iowa as well. They have several different formulas and some of the products in the formulas come from different places. For instance, the Salmon comes from the Pacific Northwest; the Buffalo comes from Montana and Wyoming (GO POKES!) The venison comes from Australia and the reason for that is because Australia is a certified Scrapie free country. Scrapie is a disease that affects the nervous system. They said it was similar to Mad cow disease. There have been no instances of this disease in Australia, and the product from them comes from a certified USDA Supplier. I also asked about meal and what exactly meal was I had heard it was not good for dogs. She said that Meal as a by-product may not be the best, but they DO NOT have any Meal by-product in any of their formulas! They also do not have Pork meal in any of their formulas as that is not good for dogs either. The meal they put into their product is a ground up bones, muscles and meat of the animal. What they said they basically do is take the product and grind it down to a powder and include all the bones, meat and muscle. They get all nutrition that are found in the bones and the muscles that they otherwise wouldn't get if they were just getting the meat. This makes sense to me because If a dog were in the wild, they would eat all of that. They wouldn't just eat the meat and walk away from the rest. Baldwin seems to be enjoying the food and tolerating it well. We didn't have any problems purchasing the dog food on Amazon, no mold or weird stuff growing in the bag at all. The kibble size seems to be plenty small enough for our 56 lb. dog. We go through about a 30 lb. bag every month. If you want more information give their customer service a call, they were SUPER helpful, gave me lots of great information! Really if you are considering this dog food, just do it. This is a great brand of dog food! Great Customer service and will make your fur baby as happy as they can be!

The price tag was greater than what we were used to paying but after seeing how beautiful and healthy the breeder's dogs were we
This dog food is quality! When we added a new pup to our family in 2014 we started using Taste of the Wild based off the breeder's recommendation. The price tag was greater than what we were used to paying but after seeing how beautiful and healthy the breeder's dogs were we began using it for our dogs. As time went on we relocated and were expecting a baby all of which had me looking for a quality dog food at a cheaper price. I found something that I believed to still be quality and we made the switch. Our dogs seemed fine but then we noticed they had ringworm. Our healthy female never had it before and we were shocked. Then we moved again for the second time in a year. Our female yet again got ringworm. They say stress compromises the immune system which makes it difficult for it to fight off bacteria and fungus (ringworm, demodectic mange, etc) and I'm sure our moves and a new baby didn't help but I truly believe not having our dogs on a grain-free, high quality dog food also played a huge role. Just like humans when we are under stress or sick does eating Subway (fast food that you think is healthy) the same as homemade Chicken Noodle Soup. Kind of stretching here but I believe not having our pups on Taste of the Wild did a disservice to their immune system because they weren't being provided with the nutrients they needed to build up a strong immune system. We are now back on Taste of the Wild and that's the way it will remain.

“No more gas” for a very picky eater.
I purchased this Adult at the same time I purchased the puppy of the same flavor combination (Bison & Venison). My very picky eater, Sarah (Yorkie) liked this but she liked the puppy even more. The puppy’s kibble are smaller and she likes the taste of the puppy a little more. I had to switch from Royal Canin because it gave her bad gas. I would certainly buy this again because she will certainly eat it and that’s surprising given the fact that she’s very picky and NO GAS with this brand. Wonderful!!!
