Blocks door shut even if they have a key

I ordered this portable lock to take on a car trip in a few months. It arrived yesterday, and I couldn't wait to try it. With the door open, the metal bar easily slipped into the latch opening in my front door frame. If door frame is to your right, place the bar with right hand, close door with the left (need a small gap between door and frame). The latch opening in my door frame is longer than the latch, I needed to slide the bar up/down a bit until the cutout in the bar allowed the door latch thru. Just took a couple tries. Then the metal button on the plastic triangle handle fits in the triangle hole in the metal bar- press triangle handle down firmly to engage. Grab the knob and try to open the door, if the door gap is a little wide, it may jiggle a little but shouldn't open. If the gap is too wide, this lock won't work in that door (read specifications to be sure). It is only for locking others out while you're IN the room, you can't lock it and leave. I had my husband try to open the door with a key from outside. He wiggled it, tried the knob and put his shoulder into it, but it didn't budge. He finally gave up and came in thru the back door. 😃 I'm certain it will be a deterrent for would-be intruders while I'm on the road- THEY would have to make a lot of noise to get in. That's all I need when the door is in a public place. That and my air horn next to the hotel bed! 📢

Wish I'd know about this sooner!

I'm so glad I found this. I was having a problem with my back door popping open unexpectadly even when locked. I was tired of having to pile heavy items in front of it to prevent it and haven't been able to afford to have a locksmith install a deadbolt yet. This is a perfect solution! It was easy to install though I did have to take off the strike plate to make it fit. But that was easy to do and worth it in my opinion. The door absolutely will not budge now which is what I was looking for. Once installed you can NOT open the door from the other side so be aware of that.

A Portable Lock that gives you peace of mind while on vacation at a resort or vacation home

We went on vacation and we were staying at a vacation home that we had never been to. As a form of security, I looked for portable door locks that could be temporarily used in a home to provide extra security. This product is exceptional! I purchased two of these figuring I may need to use them on a front and back door. When we arrived at our stay, there was one door in the back that we had to use as the owner left only one key that fit that door. There were 3 doors to the place. I was able to install one of these on what I call the front door and lock the door. I left that lock on the door for our entire stay. The other door we did not go through had a screen door that could be locked so we did, and had a deadbolt, handle lock, and chain - so we locked all of those. At night, we were able to install the lock on the door we used in addition to locking the storm door. The locks are old locks but the key looks like you could make a duplicate of it. Since we had no idea whether someone who would have stayed before would have done that, we installed the lock when we came back to our place. It would be nice to have a similar product such as this that would have a key lock on it so that when you go out, you could install it and lock it so you know no one could enter through the doors. There is a product online that covers the door handle and locks but this would not work with this particular door as the lock is a deadbolt lock with no handle and the handle is like an 1860s glass handle. Want you to know I bought two more so now I have 4 and I would never go anywhere without them. They are exceptional!!!!!!

Great Security

My daughter received this as Christmas gift and I loved it so much I bought myself one. I'm a single woman living alone and even though I feel very safe in my apartment, this adds an extra piece of security. I also bought it for traveling as an extra security. I love the carry pouch, it's very easy to install on any door and well worth the price!

Safety First

It takes a couple of seconds to intall it, once it is in place, it's virtually impossible to get in. I am order another one for the front door. Only works when someone is inside to install it, anyway you feel super safe having this device. Highly recommended for traveling or adding extra privacy to your bedroom or bathroom.
