Worth the effort

Yes, the pieces come greasy. So I got some brake cleaner spray from the hardware store, and sprayed the pieces clean (ventilation!). Then I applied some clear epoxy rustoleum spray paint. And within minutes, half my office wanted one because it looks so cool. Yes, I tried to find the parts at the store instead of buying this kit, and totally failed. The little five way center piece is impossible to even order online. Just get this kit and have a little fun finishing it, and you'll have a gorgeous piece of art that you helped make, something you can be proud of.

Totally fun and cool!

Here’s what I did with mine. I bought this for my camper. After cleaning all parts with a degreaser, join all parts together with a small pipe wrench. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Use a dab of Threadlock and wipe away any visible, as it’s a bit greasy. Also, don’t try to tighten the “leg” parts all the way in as they are your stabilizing factor. You also need height for the paper towels so don’t over tighten the rod into the base, nor the cap. Just tighten all joints until they just start to have some resistance. I used some acrylic artists paint and dapped some on with small brush, Q-tips and finger. Let dry a day. Then spray 3 to 5 very light coats of crystal clear Rust-oleum enamel. Follow can directions for recoat. Let dry. I added cork on the bottom of the feet, but you could also use some felt. This is a fun kit! Use your imagination and let it fly!

I decided to write this review to provide a positive light on this product because of some of the negative feedback already given. I read the reviews prior to my purchase so I knew it was going to come as raw material, covered in grease and that it had potential to rust. There were several good suggestions from previous reviews to remedy these issues. I will say that, first of all, the instructions tell you to clean/prep the product before assembly. Second, I followed the suggestions of cleaning with dawn dish soap, sealing with Rustoleum clear sealant and then placing felt pads on the legs. My towel holder was easy to assemble, is functional, does not scratch surfaces and hasn’t left any residue thus far after doing those simple extra steps. It truly is a unique addition to our home.

I really like the holder - the black one is way better in person then what you see in the images. Glad I went with it! It's a little bit smaller than the commercial grey steel one which is perfect. Highly recommended. Seller is phenomenal and a pleasure to work with. Quickly addressed all my concerns and needs. Will definitely be a repeat customer! :)

Quality

Easy to put together love the look I already knew they coat metal to keep it from rusting so I just wash it in dish soap . Took one minute to assemble plus cheaper than buying all the parts from here and doing it I couldn’t buy the parts here for what I paid for it

Amazing

After reading the reviews, I knew exactly what to expect. I immediately cleaned the parts with dawn dish soap, then when assembled and dried I spray with clear epoxy. This has to be the sturdiest paper towel holder I have ever owned, not to mention how fun and unique looking. Could not be happier

Basement Bathroom

I bought this for the main floor bathroom but I quickly realized that my better half would reject the purchase. It is perfect for the basement bathroom that has James Bond 007 wallpaper. I love it.

Very easy to put together

This was very easy to put together. Took me around 5 mins. Your hands will get a little dirty, but it was not a big deal. This is an industrial product and has the machine oil from the threading of the pipe. So if you are worried, wear gloves. Other than that, I love it. So simple, yet very sturdy.

Heavy, strong and durable

I bought this paper towel holder for my son for his college apartment. When I showed it to him he actually got excited about it and thought was pretty awesome...this coming from a kid who never gets excited over ANYTHING....especially any type of home decor! LOL!! It is solid, heavy and durable. I am very pleased with it. You will have to wash it WELL per the instructions upon arrival and you will need a pipe wrench to get it tight with all of the “feet” pointing in the right direction.

love the look

I bought 2. Very easy to assemble, to clean and paint. I am so happy to have a paper towel holder that doesn't tip over and easy to put a roll on. Great for camping as it won't blow away and is high enough off the table in case something is spilled. Great idea! Painted one gold and one green to match a tablecloth.
