I've been using an ARRIS docsis 3.0 modem/wi-fi combo for the past 5 years and I thought it's about time to upgrade to docsis 3.1. I'm glad about my decision and purchase considering the price and supposed to be top of the line model, SBG8300. Because I saw the difference with regards to speed (I'm using Xfinity at 275 Mbps plan), which increased to 390 Mpbs! Thank goodness that it's been pretty consistent after almost a month of using it. Plus, you'll get an extended 2-year warranty after you registered the product on their ARRIS consumer support website. I hope that you will also enjoy having it as much as I do. It's highly recommended, delivery is guaranteed free and fast straight from Amazon. ARRIS for me is a trusted brand, so go ahead and buy one!

We were on Comcast Blast Hi-Speed Internet, rated at 150mbps. Using our three year old SBG6782-AC we had wired desktop speed of 170mbps, and abut 65mbps on my cell phone. Upgraded our Comcast to 400mbps, but only got 270mbps on the desktop due to a modem rating of 343mbps. So, ordered this new SBG8300, received it the next day, and made the switch. The photo shows my desktop speed now, and my cell phone Speedtest shows 192mbps download. Our upload speed more than doubled from 13 to 29mbps. The modem is extremely easy to set up with Comcast - just connect it and to to a Comcast web page to activate it. The Surfboard Manager app (on both Android phone and iPad) made it easy to rename the SSIDs and change the passwords so all our smart devices simply reconnected. Expensive, but well worth it.

Has never lost the Comcast cable feed. Wifi is rock solid and fast. Waited for months for this wifi cable modem to come out. Difficult to install wifi.

works good, and, despite the seller reply, everyone can see system time.

We have had COX for 2 years with problems off and on during this time. From our WiFi going in and out, to not being able to make important Zoom meeting calls, not being able to watch our favorite shows through the cable provider or our firebox and so forth. We heavily rely on our WiFi for schooling, meetings, and just daily life. You can imagine our frustration every time we had to call COX and have them tell us it was one thing after another. Hearing excuses like... Your box is too old and needs to be replaced. Try restarting your modem. Your modem or box is not in the right place in the house. You need to be directly connected to the box for better device using the Ethernet cable. You need to turn the WiFi off on devices not being used. We will send out a tech to fix the WiFi (numerous times). You need to upgrade your service to the fastest option. Honestly, we have heard it all and every time it seemed to be something we were doing wrong. Finally, we ordered this gateway box, which can be used for cable and WiFi. In other words it cuts out needing a modem and a separate box for the router. We like simple! Again, COX tried to tell us that something was wrong. Once the last technician came out and fixed all the bugs it works better than ever. He said our speeds were over 880 MBPS which is one of the highest he has seen. Although the Arris claims to go 1000 MBPS no carrier or Arris Surfboard will go that fast. At least our new speed allows for no interruption in our service or WiFi. I can’t not tell you how relieved we are to find this box. It’s worth every penny. It even makes the image more clearer on the television for shows, movies and gaming (which my husband especially loves). Goodbye lagging WiFi!!!

Let me first state that I am by no means a "techie". I come from the age of black and white TV sets and push button AM car radios. I bought this device because I was sick and tired of my previous internet and phone provider and their malfunctioning equipment. My new provider is a cable TV company, so I had to buy another WiFi Cable Modem gizmo that's cable TV compatible. The directions are simple and easy to follow. The package comes with all the cables you need to make it work. Since I have installed this device I have had ZERO internet outages, as opposed to several a week with my previous internet provider's equipment. The signal is very strong and can accommodate all our wireless devices - phones, tablets, printers, etc. and those of our guests without a degradation in download speeds. My only very small complaint is the device's password format did not work with they way I like to set up my passwords and it took me a bit to figure it out, but that's probably for the best from a security standpoint. I am very happy with this device and would definitely buy this brand again.

I've only had it a few days but I found it quite simple to install, has good range and works as advertised... Just as it should! (no calls to tech support required for me)

Used an earlier version of this for a couple years, then my connections increasingly went out. My ISP of course said I was to blame, and didn't want to send a tech out. So I ran new coax from their cable, got this new router/modem, and of course still had the same problems. They finally sent a tech, who said it was their fault, and we had too strong a signal (we are at the end of the ISP cable run, and the tech said that when something is changed upstream, it can hurt our signal). Anyway, even though the old Arris works, I am happy with this new one. (Though this new trapezoidal shape is weird; I preferred the rectangular shape of the older model.)

I received this modem on Jun. 28th. It is faster than my old modem, but it keeps needing to be reset. First I had my internet provider replace the cable from the cable box to my house, and then I replaced the cable from the computer to the modem. I was still having to reset the modem every couple of days. On 7/5 I contacted Amazon. I explained the situation to the Amazon rep, and then again to the Arris rep. I was told that the modem should not be plugged into a surge protector, but directly into the wall. I did as instructed. On 7/15 and 7/20 I again needed to unplug the modem and reset it. I can't send back the modem without having a replacement, because I work from home. I'm a little upset that after spending over $300 I'm dealing with this. I never had this problem with my cheaper modems.

Wow....is all I can say about this modem/router. I had a previous model Arris Surfboard modem and the WiFi reach seemed subpar at best (necessitating 2 Range Extenders). I just installed and added this model, however, to our Xfinity service and I can say that I am blown away by both the speed and range of this router/modem's network. Great product!
