Built to silence NYC, lol

As someone who lives in NYC there is constantly noise being made outside so falling asleep peacefully was a rare event for me so i decided to give this a try. BEST IDEA EVER! The sound machine is very well built and has a nice look and feel to it. It has a bunch of different sounds so everyone can find one that they like and you can even customize the lighting on it according to your preference. I don't like to have it run all night, just until i fall asleep so i use the timer feature. I highly recommend this and will likely be buying some as gifts for upcoming birthdays!

A high pitched hum plays when light is on, waking baby

4/27/19 EDIT: The company followed through on their promise to send me one of the updated models. The model number has not changed, and I don't see any way to tell the earlier model apart from the update, which is unfortunate. However, the humming problem described in my below review is not present in the updated model DreamEgg sent. As a result (and due to stellar customer service), I'm updating my rating to five stars. Original review: The sound features of this white noise machine work very well. There is no detectable loop on any of the sounds as far as I can tell, and the ability to set a timer (30, 60, 90) or let it run indefinitely is great for sleep training our little girl. Trouble is, the nightlight feature of this unit is really unusable due to a high pitched humming sound that plays with the white noise if the light is on. There is also a physical vibration that begins in the unit when the light is turned on, which persists until the light is turned off. For the life of me I cannot figure out why this is designed this way, as LED lights are the most energy efficient lighting option and require too little energy to produce an auditory hum. I worry that the lights used in this unit *aren't* LEDs and may pose a safety risk, though I haven't yet noticed the unit get warm or hot. That hum, though, is high pitched and disrupts the white noise sound enough to wake me, my wife, and the baby. It's not super loud but stands out due to the high pitch. And it's bloody annoying. We do not and will not use the light feature for this reason, which is unfortunate because the light is otherwise useful for seeing the buttons in the dark. Three stars for the essentially useless light. I'd have paid a bit more for a functional light that doesn't wake the baby. Edit 3/2/19: Now I hear the high pitched hum persistently when the unit is turned off in addition to when the light is on. I will return and exhange for a new one because this might be a hardware defect. A hum like this can be caused by bad wiring in the product (though in my experience that's only at higher voltages). I have no idea what could be causing this and can only hope it's a defect because the unit is otherwise great. Will update after exchange. Edit 3/19/19: The manufacturer reached out to me in response to this review and issued me a replacemeny device. The replacement has the same problem as both my original unit and the exchange I requested from Amazon. The company has told me that they will be releasing a new version of this product sometime around April 2019, and they claim to have solved this problem in that design. Time will tell! They did offer to send me a replacement unit of the new model when it release, so A+ customer service for the manufacturer. I'll follow up on this review if they follow through.

Brings delight to my 95 year old friend

I bought this for my 95 year old friend who lives in an assisted living facility. She LOVES it. She suffers from Dementia so doing things like using a radio or being able to put music on was impossible for her. This sound machine is a press and play. It is auto off with a timer and has several nice sounds to choose from. Niw she can hear the ocean, listen to birds or play music whenever she wants to.

My house located next to the main road,so I can hear a lot of noise from the driving time,I want to buy something for myself and can help me fall asleep quickly.This machine is very nice,it easily to use and very helpful.

Great for nighttime and daytime use

There's definitely lots of noises to choose from. When I first ran through all the noises, I wasn't sure I would use the fan noise function, since many of the 7 variations sounded like variations of a diesel engine or some motor chugging along, but turns out that the rhythmic droning actually works great for lulling my 5 yr old to sleep. Actually works much better than the lullaby CD that we've been using, and better than some of the white noise functions. The 7 different white noise variations are different, but sound close enough to me that I can't tell one from the other. When I'm home on the weekends, I've been using the forest noise, which has birds chirping, during the day. It's very soothing and peaceful, and surprisingly I think my concentration is better. It's nice to have it going in the background while I'm reading or just relaxing. The running brook noise is also pretty good. The rest are OK. My wife thinks the actual lullaby song option available on this noise maker is creepy so we don't ever play that one. The nightlight function is useful and gives just enough glow. There's also a pulsing mode, which i find to be more distracting than anything. The volume can get pretty loud if you want, so this noise maker can definitely drown out noisy neighbors... thankfully we don't have any. Just a little kid that has a hard time falling asleep. i noticed a headphone jack, and this could come in quite handy if you're in a semi-noisy environment trying to study in silence. I've never head much luck with earplugs and all they seem to do is just muffle the noise and I could still hear people. Putting on headphones and plugging them in to this noise maker with the white noise going should definitely block out all unwanted sounds and help you study more efficiently. I wish I had this when I was studying for my certification exams two years ago. Overall a great buy. The only thing that would make this better is if this could be battery powered.

Love it

I like the various sounds and the volume control is great. When the family is watching tv I have no problem sleeping now. I leave for work very early so go to bed about 8pm. I would recommend this product.

I love this product! Was going to buy the hatch baby rest nightlight for 60$ but after coming across this I’m really happy with my choice! The light is perfect and the sounds are lovely, my newborn loves it! Highly recommend

Say bye to white noise app.

If you are having a hard time sleeping through the whole night, you might need one sound machine. I began to listen to white noise since when my work environment changes. But with App...i bought this accidently to see if it works,it turns out that i don't want to use back App anymore. The sound quality of the noise machine is way better than the phone speaker and i don't need to worry on phone battery.
