Long hair option works great on short hair labrador
I used the long hair version on our 65 lbs Labrador even though he is classified as a short hair dog. The giant version is perfect for his size.

Forget the gym; you can get an arm workout using this tool.
OH MY GOD! I've heard good things about this product; but as always, I try to approach it with reasonable, tempered expectations. As far as I'm concerned, the reviews don't do it justice. Dear lord, the sheer amount of fur we got off the first of our two Siberian Huskies has me convinced that 5 stars isn't enough. Seriously, I ran this tool through for not even 10 minutes and already have pulled enough fur out of one dog to fill the package it was shipped in. Even the dog looked at the fur coming off with an expression that said "WHY DIDN'T YOU GET THIS SOONER?!" I will warn you right now that you need a well ventilated (preferably outdoor) space to do this, because the fur will fly off so heavily that you'll be convinced there are more dogs waiting under the piles that build up. And your first time using the tool will require a marathon event lasting at least as long as a presidential election campaign. So be prepared to brush. And brush. And brush. And then brush some more. Then give your arms a rest.... and then brush some more... and some more. This tool will remove fur that is apparently being beamed onto the dog from another dimension. I can't see where it's all coming from, but this tool is pulling it out. We've had 5 different brushes in 3 years. We shouldn't have bothered with any others. Do yourself a favor; save time and money - get a FURminator.

I'm amazed.
Not sure if it's normal or not but my French bulldog and Chihuahua mutts both sheds alot! I always thought furminator was for long hair dogs but I saw a review for a bulldog so I figure I'll give it a try and I'm thoroughly amazed. This thing not only catches alot of hair it even gets his dandruff. Plus side is that they like to be brushed. Win-win for me, only wish I bought this earlier lol I do recommend using this outside so that you can just brush off the loose hair's off and not have to vacuum after you're done brushing.

What a great product
This product is a dream come true. While providing a temporary home for a Golden Retriever, I have tried different types of brushes with a modicum of success. A friend has long haired cats and used the cat version with great success. So I decided it was worth a try. First, this product combs through the long hair of the Golden Retriever without any problems or binding at all. Very smooth operation. As we are coming out of the cooler weather, the dog has a lot of under fur. This product removed it without any issues. Second, the button on the back side clears the hair instantly. No binding and the product tracks properly. Anytime you have something this wide with a bar to clear the teeth, there is a possibility of it not tracking properly, therefore not clearing completely. No issues like this at all. Third, the handle is very comfortable, even with my big hands. The shape is very good and it does not wiggle around in my hand at all. Very easy to use. Fourth, this product just works! After less than 15 minutes, I thought I had a second dog. I have never had a brush of any type that worked so efficiently and quickly. I brushed the dog again about a week later, and the first brushing was so thorough I got very little additional fur from the dog. Dogs shed. That is a fact. But this product has reduced the shed factor so much, I cannot say enough about this great product. After the initial brushing, a quick follow up is all I needed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Full Disclosure: I purchased this product of my own volition. I was not contacted by anyone prior to my purchase, nor was I offered anything in return for my evaluation. I am not a test evaluator. The opinions expressed are completely my own. There are so many fake evaluations floating around that I feel the need to make sure that others understand that I purchased this product completely on my own. Thank you for reading and I hope this helps someone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the Best Invesments I've Ever Made
I've been on the fence about getting a Furminator for a year now. I have a 70-pound Catahoula Leopard Dog mixed with I think Border Collie or Australian Shepherd. She sheds A LOT. I actually just invested in one of those automatic vacuum cleaners because I just bought a house with wood floors and I have to manually vacuum them at least twice a day, she sheds so much. I bought a cheapie brush for my dog Maxie from Wal-Mart, and it didn't do me any good. I think it hurt her to brush her with it, because she'd sometimes quickly turn back and look at me like I'd done something she didn't like, and she'd get up and leave me a lot. I didn't have a lot of faith in brushes at all. I literally did not think it was possible for there to be a brush that actually WORKED. So, I was getting my eyebrows waxed this past week, and my consultant raved about the Furminator. Yeah, yeah, whatever, I thought. But she put the idea in my head, and a couple days ago there I was buying the darn thing. For reference, I got the long hair large brush. I had a lot of reservations about buying the Furminator. From the fakes, to them hurting dogs, to all the other complaints I read about it, I was just skeptical. BOY WAS I WRONG. I got my Furminator today and brushed Maxie for over an hour. After every stroke, the brush was full of hair and I had to release it. Not only did the brush NOT hurt my dog, but it made her feel good! As I ran the brush down her back, she'd get a muscle twinge and start to shake her back leg, like she does when I start to scratch a really good spot on her. She patiently laid her head in my lap, wagged her tail, and STAYED PUT as I brushed her! This thing is a miracle brush! Per the pictures, she lost a lot of hair. But after an hour, I got tired, and so I'll brush her again tomorrow. When I finished brushing her today, the brush was still catching a full load of hair every time I brought it down her back and sides. This thing is a beast, and I am so happy I bought it. Easily one of the best investments I have ever made. P.S. Leaves hair so soft, even my other dog thinks it's a pillow.

The BFG of animal grooming!
This thing is ridiculous. You may think you've brushed the hair off your dog, but oh no, my friend, you haven't. Let's get one thing clear, your dog has too much hair, and the FURminator was sent by aliens in the future to help you fix that. Let's get started! First, go put on something you don't plan on wearing for the rest of your life. Unless you wear plastic trash bags (Derelicte?), you're about to be wearing your very own authentic dog-hair suit. A lint roller will help, but plan on tearing through half the roll of adhesive sheets when you're done. Next, go outside. If you have a particularly ornery dog, you may want to throw a leash on him, but don't you dare FURminate in your home, unless you're the first person to brush their dog because you want MORE hair in your house. When you're done, you'll have little fur tumbleweeds bouncing around while you stare in disbelief at your dog, which will still have fur, somehow, despite the hairpocalype unleashed by this innocuous little brush. Get help. This isn't a leisurely afternoon in the back yard where Rover pants contentedly while you haplessly brush away the loose hairs. This is war, and in war, you need two hands. One person holds Trigger in place, the other FURminates. Get in there. Short, fast strokes are your best bet. Use one hand to hold the skin in place, and the other to run the brush through. Use the handy button on top to clear out the teeth when it gets clogged. Expect to do this about a million times. Seriously, you're going to wonder how much longer it can possibly go on. Longer, amigo. Stop when the fur piles are waist-high, or when the fur changes color. I'm convinced you would end up with a shaved dogif you just kept going, but the pile of fur would be unmanageable. The FURminator allegedly pulls the undercoat first, so when your brown dog starts getting lighter in color, we assume that means the top coat is getting attacked. But who cares? Go nuts, the d#mn beast will grow it all back in 2 minutes anyways, right? This is the be-all end-all of grooming products for your dog. If you hate having animal hair in your house, and have the discipline to use it every week, the FURminator will change your life. Cons: Doesn't work on human back hair

Unreal!
If you haven't read one of the top reviews on this product--go read it now! I couldn't stop laughing! The reviewer is a comedian! The hysterical review forced me to press, "Buy Now", knowing darn well that the Furminator could turn out to be a total fail. I will start by saying that I have a 65# adult yellow lab. You'd wonder if I owned a dog (or 3 kids for that matter) upon visiting my home. She is bathed regularly and brushed a few times a week with the average dog brush that costs around $10 and breaks in a few months, only to be replaced. I have all white slipcovered furniture and bedding and keep my home immaculate. However, this includes vacuuming 2-3 times per day because the dog hair is everywhere! I'm telling you all of this because you may be a skeptic, and like me, wonder if this brush is only "great" because those who purchase the brush don't groom/take care of their pets in the first place. My FURminator arrived today and I couldn't wait to rip it out of the packaging. I purchased the large short hair brush. After 5 minutes of brushing, I was shocked; speechless. I have a pile of hair that's probably a foot high and a foot wide. It didn't seem real how much hair was coming out! Have I been dreaming that I brush her, but in fact, never do??!!! Initially, I wondered if this was hurting her seeing the chunks of hair being brushed out. But my lab absolutely loved it! She rolled over on her back with her legs up...she was so happy and relaxed. As the Top Reviewer stated, you WILL be covered in hair (my clothes will have to go right in the wash) and you WILL have dog fur tumbleweeds blowing all over! For sure, it's a hairpocalypse! Lol

The best grooming tool ever invented!
I will never be without a Furminator ever again, it's an absolute must have in my grooming regimen. I have a 45lb Australian Shepherd and an 18lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whose long hair would be a nightmare to deal with without my trusty Furminator. I also recommend the Furminator brand mat removal tool. I use the Furminator every couple months and it really helps keep the fur-bunnies from appearing on the hardwood floors. The dogs seem so much more comfortable after getting furminated too. I included a picture of my Aussie after he was groomed with the Furminator and de-matting tool. Its also great for getting pesky dog hair off couches and throw blankets!

Recommend this review there is some useful information
First of all I want to address the single star reviews making a claim these are counterfeit. Back in 2016 when my home burned down I was displaced at a hotel for several months where I lived that commonly held corporate meetings and conventions. While visiting I met a gal named Angie Porter who saw me with my service dog an 80lb white Siberian husky. She fell in love with my dog and immediately introduced herself and kindly asked to let him knowing he was a service dog. During this time and her stay my family had gotten to know her and learned about a product they invented. A new dog brush. An amazing dog brush that actually works, it doesn’t clog like every other brush and it seriously removes hair at an alarming rate. This brush was known as the Furninator a name she announced when she gave me a medium sized brush free of charge knowing my families situation (we had nothing at the time it burned in the fire) and showed me how to use the brush properly. Oh yes there is a proper way to use these brushes so you avoid injury if your dog and remove hair the proper way. Obviously you don’t want to go against the lure of hair but there is still a technique to be used. I suggest a google search or some practice time before you leave a bad mark. Over the past few years I lost that brush and needed a replacement. Upon looking up Angie her husband and self sold the company so they no longer manufacturer these brushes. I had wished all the time I had the large brush my dog is big. Anyways knowing this is a new company that now owns furminator I decided to order the large here from Amazon and I have to say..., it is the same great brush and works fantastic. After brushing my hisky today we were able to fill a 5 gallon bucket full of dog hair.., that’s how much hair had built up in the past year while using competitor brushes. They just don’t work well. He loves it.., he was rolling over, switching around, kissing me, and loving every minute of his brushing session. It took a mere 10 minutes to brush him while I had an assistant with a vacuum sucking up the loose piles to prevent them from floating around the house. This was and is a great invention in the pet industry and deserves all 5 stars. There isn’t a better product on the market so to not give it 5 stars is foolishness. The use of an assurance and a vacuum for a long haired pet is suggested and I also suggest getting the largest brush your comfortable with and perhaps the two largest sizes you would use. The larger you get the reduction in brush time. The size of your pet can dictate this size so you could go large and a medium or small, etc..., for those tighter places, by the ears, under the arms, around the buttons. And so on. I hope you enjoyed my brief history and found this review useful. If so would you please mark it helpful so other me can also see it take priority in the review header. It is important that as a user of the furninator that you care for it, store it properly, and use it properly and you and your loved one will get years of enjoyment until they dig a hole in the yard and bury it. :-)

Best grooming tool ever!
I have an Akita that does a heavy shed every spring and this tool was a life saver today. i had a 2 foot pile of hair within half an hour with this thing. Best brush I have ever used! I bought this one with the little one so I could work on her face and her body. Both are fantastic.
