We bought the Swift SW200DL microscope because my wife has great interest in seeing everything in great detail - bugs, dust, plants, textiles, food, and four-color printing. We sought a school quality microscope with a top light. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and heft of the microscope. The color and clarity surprised us for equipment at this price point. While there is image aberration at the edges (not a surprise at this price), it is barely noticeable, and not annoying; frankly, you need to go looking for the aberration to see it. The coarse and fine adjustment controls were smooth and the stage moved equally smoothly. The revolving nosepiece rotated smoothly when changing objective lenses, and clicked into position without moving the rest of the microscope. The only negative is that the top light is not effective when using the 40X objective lens as the lens is long and blocks the path of the light. This microscope is as good as the much more expensive ones I used in engineering school. Overall, this microscope merits five stars.

Bought this microscope to view things that my kids and I found out in the yard. The lowest power objective with the over head lighting produces some stunning images. The detail is really hard to describe, we even saw a tiny living insect buried among a bit of foxtail grass. Definitely get the version with overhead and beneath stage lighting. A few downsides to mention: It's a manual stage, so it's a bit tricky to move specimens around. Also, the endstop for the focuser is pretty difficult to set, so you have to be extremely careful to not collide the high power objective with the slides. The collimator is flush with the stage, so I suspect it will be very easy to scratch it, if you are not careful. Also, I wish it had a iris style aperture (at this price point probably is not possible) Overall: For the price, this microscope is an incredible value. The images this produces has left all members of the family really impressed and excited to look at more things! It's a solid microscope that I definitely recommend buying.

As growing family, I became interested in parasites recently - and decided upon my wife's approval to check out microscopes. I was in market for a decent microscope. However at the sametime, I've never used microscope since my high school days which is now more than two decades ago. I wanted to something that 1) my kid (may need another year or two before can use this properly with assistance) could use in future 2) would give results that I could, perhaps, bring to doctor for faster evaluation for example. 3) within reasonable price range. I was considering very much between this and few $300 models which included triscope, allowing myself to view with two eyes while at the sametime allow camera to take pictures. However, I figured, with 20% discount that was going at the time, this would be also fabulous value, and took hit. My reasoning, which are proving to true, are as follows: 1. I am not a professional with using microscopes. If I gain more interest, then I can upgrade or get myself a better copy then. 2. This is adequate to capture images. I bought a tube extender which allows single scope to connect with my mirrorless camera from ebay. It hasn't come yet so I have not tried it out, but that will allow me to take crisp pictures. I wll have my videos & crisp pictures with that. So far I've taken with phone hand held and images are okay. However, viewing from glass is much much better (and I can tell things). 3. I wouldn't need 2000X+ viewing. Even the $300~ ones will have some blurriness & requirement of using advanced methods like using oil & etc. Also, I wouldn't have speciemens that require 2000X+ viewing enlargement. 4. Bonus - having a top led (which you can use with 2 lowest objects (out of 3)) is bonus. Not everything I look at needs to be prepared with slide. With this you can look at opaque objects quickly. 5. Can be AA battery operatred. It is ready whenever I want to use it. I feel victorious that I was able to resist my urge to spend $300+ on something that I can do it with $75~

A great and solid microscope for the beginner or experienced user. Solid metal construction, easy to install batteries, rough and fine focus, and dual light source for looking at samples using transmitted light or reflected light. The only negative I found was when I tried to use a mechanical stage, the mechanical stage blocked most of the light from the overhead light source.

Works just like the ones in high school. Daughter likes it but it kind of runs out of stuff to do pretty quick. Better have a game plan if you want to maximize its use. The lighting is great, the fine control works precisely. It was easy for her to figure it out on her own even though she’d never used one before. The coolest part for me was putting my iPhone camera as close to the 10x eyepiece without touching and viewing the specimen on my phone. They have stands that will do this for you, but I found just holding it steady was good enough for our limited use.

I am very pleased with this microscope. I am a retired biology teacher and I Purchased this to use with my 10-year-old twin grandsons.

I bought this in order to check the quality of lashes for eyelash extensions. It takes time to understand and configure, but everything is very clearly visible. On the photo lashes 0.07 thickness.

I’m teaching Life Science in middle school (a new direction for me) and wanted to get hands-on experience with a good compound microscope before taking lessons live. This was a good value starter microscope. I really like the fact it came with two eyepieces in addition to the nice selection of objective lenses. It does a really nice job of magnifying and the options of plugging in and battery (for field work) is a nice touch. I’m just getting comfortable with this equipment but right out of the box I am very pleased with the whole package. The hand grip is pretty cool too!

Bought this as a BD gift for a 12yo who is passionate about science. But I wanted to test it first as I have not used one from school. I almost returned it because the light would not turn on either when plugged in or from batteries. Decided to unscrew the bottom to take a look and noticed that a white plug was unplugged. Plugged it and voila.. it works. But we did not have any slides. So ordered some cheap slides from amazon to test it. I felt like a kid myself too looking ad bees legs and hairs :). I don't know what is considered a good microscope nowadays, but for the money, this seems as a great one. It magnifies a lot. Seems very solid. I wish they included at least one slide. Glad that I opened it to test before gifting it without slides.

great for beginners. we use for homeschool and my ten year old loves it. this is a regular size school type microscope, not a little one that fits in your hands. it's awesome.
