Low priced electronic timer, instructions not so good (better instructions in this review)

I bought this switch to act as a low cost electronic timer. I was looking at some of the analog timers, which were $1 or so cheaper, but they did not have an independent on and off switch, so I went for this. I don't really need the remote operation function, but it does work. And a nice feature, if you ever feel too lazy to get up! It is larger than I thought it would be. It looks like a cute little circle in their photos, but it is actually a hefty circle. It is almost as wide as the switch plate itself. The power switch, on the left side of the outlet, has a mild blue light when it is on, and no light when it is off. Even in total darkness the light is so faint as to not be annoying. The instructions, written in the smallest typeface they could possibly print, say that it is rated for a maximum of 10 Amps. It would seem like 15 Amps would be better, since we all use 15 Amp circuits. But it handles my dehumidifier without a problem. And almost all of these types of switches seem to be 10 Amp rated. Connection to my wifi was not bad, but the instructions did not help. Fortunately I had previously installed a different Smart Life item, so I was able to connect easily enough. But you might want to follow these instructions instead: 1) Install the Smart Life app. 2) Plug in the outlet and hold down the power button for about 5 seconds until the power light blinks rapidly. 3) Click the "+"in the Smart Life app to add a device. 4) Don't bother with the "search" function or the QR code. That never works for me. Instead, just click on "Electrical Outlet." 5) Click the "Confirm indicator rapidly blink" button. 6) Enter your wifi password (your phone and the outlet should both be on the same, 2.4GHz wifi - not a 5 GHz channel) 7) Wait while it connects (it takes what feels like a minute or so, but at least has a reassuring progress meter). Note that if you unplug it, and then plug it back in, it automatically reconnects. It probably has an internal battery or something. I do not know how long it holds the settings. But it maintained the settings for me while it was unplugged for a few minutes.

Easy as 1, 2, 3

Purchased this to fully change over from old X10 system that is having issues with an Insteon Hub. Since I already had a device from another brand loaded with Alexa through the Smart Life app installation was a breeze. Locating and programming through the app was smooth, no issues. Once I assigned the name I heard my Alexa tell me the device was now synced and ready to use. I didn't have to do anything... it was automatic! I was disappointed the 2nd one I ordered at the same time on the same order was delayed in shipping and not due for another 10 days. For the price you can't go wrong, and for the ease of programming and use it is well worth it!

Really is Plug, (Setup) & Play.

Great item for my patio lights. Love that fact that it works with Alexa. Easyto setup and operate. Using an outlet in an outside utility closet, so we'll see how well this item works with weather extreems.all said, I like this item.

Product arrived on time and was easy to setup. Within 2 minutes of taking the unit out of the box, I was able to discover the device, program a new routine and control the outlet with no problems! I will be purchasing at least 4 more within the next 2 weeks.

A smart plug which is easy to use

Easy to setup and connect. I can easily use the APP to setup the plug and connect it with Alexa. And it works great with it. It can also be added to my routine in my Alexa APP as well. Very satisfied!

Works as description and easy to setup

The smart outlet works perfectly, expecially I can get my Google Home to recognize my voice commands. The initial setup using the Smart Life app from the play store works as per the directions.Once paired and named the plug is visible in Smart Life app, then connecting Smart Life account to your Amazon Alexa and the Google Home app. I can then add commands (routines) to Google Home to turn the light on and off. Simple on and off commands just seem to work using a Google Home Mini. Would advise that purchasing this smart plug.
