FANTASTIC Product That Displays Images PERFECTLY!

I wanted a digital picture frame to display my photos. I did a little research, and the frame that I found to be rated the best was the Aluratek ADMPF108F 8-inch Hi-Res Digital Photo Frame. So I purchased it. I was terribly disappointed. The frame did not automatically adjust the picture to fit the frame. Specifically, if the photo was taken in landscape mode, it showed the image in landscape mode, regardless of whether or not the image was vertically correct or not. So, there were quite a few "sideways images" being displayed, and it was just unacceptable. I heard a commercial on radio about a frame that used WiFi to allow for images to be sent directly to the frame, and it piqued my interest. That frame wasn't available on Amazon, so I researched a WiFi enabled frame that was available on Amazon, and found the Pix-Star 10.4 Inch Wi-Fi Cloud Digital Photo Frame FotoConnect XD. I read some reviews that said it was "difficult to set up", but generally speaking, the ratings for the frame were good, so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! I found the frame setup to be very easy. Albeit it took maybe about a half hour to get all the pictures I wanted onto the frame, but that time was more about going through a lot of images, and selecting which ones I wanted to be shown on the frame. The actual frame setup took no more than five minutes. I was able to log into my iCloud on my pc, and effortlessly transfer all the images I wanted from the cloud directly onto the frame. It could not have been easier. When you set up the account, you are given an email account that you can send pictures directly to. The frame displays every photo correctly, automatically arranging it so it fits the screen. I run the slide show, and the frame has several effects when changing pictures, such as a zoom out old picture, zoom in new, and a fade out old picture, slide in new picture. The day, date, and current time show nicely on the top of the frame, and the frame turns off at the designated time, and back on at the designated time. I am completely satisfied and actually pleased with the functionality of this frame. If you, like me, have a ton of pictures that you would like to transfer from your iPhone, iPad, Facebook, and the cloud to a digital frame that will display them properly, then this frame is for you! While it may cost $100 more than the other "High Rated" frame, it works so much better that I think it's worth every cent! ***** Having read my review and viewed the images, I laughed out loud! The images shown below are PRECISELY what the frame DOES NOT DO! The frame would rotate the pictures to show them correctly. The other frame displayed pictures just like the ones below: sideways! ;)

Just the thing for an older relative (who has Wi-Fi)

I bought this frame as an early Father's Day gift for my dad, who is going to be 81 this year. He loves having photos of his kids and grandkids all around him. He tapes them up all over his kitchen with scotch tape, and the walls and cabinets are full. In less than 20 minutes, we had the frame set up and connected and he was emailing himself his favorite photos off his iPhone6. He loved seeing his favorites on the big screen of this Pix-Star 15-inch frame. When he realized he could type "captions" by describing the photo in the subject line of each email, he was thrilled. Next, I texted all my siblings and a few grandkids who have phones, and they started sending him photos right away. He loved it. We spent some time changing the transitions and intervals, and he learned how to look at older photos that we put on an SD card. He's a little shaky on that part (changing the slideshow from his email "inbox" to the SD card), but he'll get it. The only suggestion I would have is to put words on the buttons of the remote control, in addition to symbols. He's not very good at figuring out what each symbol means, but again, he'll pick it up. I so often give him gifts that just don't quite work out (too techie for him or not quite what he would want). But this frame was PERFECT. I would simply recommend that the gift be given in person if it is for an older relative, so the set-up can be done for them.

Picture perfect gift idea to stay connected

When searching for a birthday gift for my 77 year old mother I happened upon this digital photo frame. I liked it because of the 10" size and for the WiFi capabilities. When I read that the frame would be paired with a unique email address so that anyone with the address and authorization could send the frame photos I was sold on it as a gift idea. The frame also has the ability to play music from a micro SD card, or via preset Internet radio stations of various genres. The ability of the frame to receive voice messages and videos was also a selling point, and justification enough for me to spend a bit more than anticipated on this item. UNBOXING & SETUP: The frame seems well made and has VESA mounting holes on the back of it, so that the frame could easily be mounted to a wall. It ships with an AC power adapter and a metal dowel (pictured to the back of the frame) which props it on a desktop. The frame is about the same size as a standard 8x12" frame, and not much thicker. There is a remote in the box with two AAA batteries. Install the batteries before powering on the unit if you want to use it with the frame to set it up. There are also buttons on the back of the frame to navigate the menu if the remote is lost or out of batteries. The on/off switch on the back of the frame is a little tough to see, but once you plug in the AC and flip that switch to 'on', the frame starts setting itself up by showing you an onscreen menu. You will need your WiFi password to connect the frame to wireless internet; on which most of the functions of the frame will rely. After entering the password on my Mom's frame, the photos I'd sent to it began to immediately populate the screen. NOTE: You can setup the email account for the frame ahead of time if giving it as a gift, and add or remove photos as desired both via a PC on the Pix-Star website, or on the photo frame itself. ---------------------------- WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT... 1. It's super easy to setup and works as promised. 2. The pictures look great on the screen - true colors and great resolutions (if the photos also had this). 3. The internet radio and music via micro SD card feature is really nice to have in addition to the ability to add external speakers. 4. The onscreen Menu interface is clear and easy to use. 5. You can email photos downloaded to the device to other people, with the frame, which makes a computer unnecessary for the frame user. 6. The remote is easy to use, with clear navigation. 7. Friends and family can sent photos, videos and audio messages to the frame with ease using the FREE Pix-Star Snap apps for iOS and Android and via email (also free). 8. No hidden charges or fees for the Pix-Star service! 9. Internal storage on the device is very good, and you can add more with a micro SD card (not included). With 300 pictures and a voice message, only 3% of the internal storage was being used. 10. Easy to see date and time feature. 11. Lots of Settings that allow for personalization of how you view photos; as singles or in various collage styles, and in varying speeds and with various transitions. 12. Weather info is useful and up-to-date with web based interface. 13. Social media can be connected to the frame so that pictures posted on sites like Facebook, can also automatically be sent to the frame. 14. Photos that the user doesn't want on the frame can easily be deleted in the Settings Menu. 15. High capacity internal storage means not having to worry about sending too many photos to the device, and if it does get 'too full' it's simple to go online to take photos off the frame without losing them. I think the max is something like 20,000 photos without any additional storage added, which for most users will be more than enough. ---------------------------- WHAT I WISH WAS BETTER... - Build quality seems good, but not 'high-end'. Time will tell how it holds up with continued use. - Backlighting on the remote would be a useful addition. - The games are not really a useful addition as the remote control is the only way to navigate them without a touchscreen interface. - The instructions that come with the frame are a little confusing, but I found that going to the Pix-Star website and clicking 'Support' and 'Knowledge Base' was helpful. This address: pixstar.uservoice.com/knowledgebase is a good place to check if you have questions as to the functionality of your frame. - The option to untether from the AC power and go on battery power would be nice. ------------------------------------ CONCLUSION: The ability to easily send photos via PC, smartphone or tablet to the Pix-Star digital frame is a wonderful feature, and the main one that interested me when I purchased it as a gift. It was simple to register the frame, pick a unique email address for it, and begin sending photos to the email which automatically showed up on the frame after it was connected to wireless internet. My sister and I now have a way to share photos of our kids with their grandmother almost instantaneously, as well as voice messages and videos. There's a lot more to this frame than others of its size and price range, and the FREE Pix-Star service seems to work very well. The apps are FREE too, and worked well on both my Android smartphone and my iOS devices (iPad Air 2 and iPhone). This product has lots of features (be sure to read the product description and go to the Pix-Star site to read more...) and is well worth the money if you have someone who is not tech-savvy, but still wants to enjoy staying connected to family and friends. It would also be a good choice for My Mom loved hers and I recommend it to others for its ease of use, multiple functions, and clear, bright screen.

Excellent Frame!

We bought this as a gift to our parents who are somewhat technically challenged. The set up of the frame was super easy. It gives you an email address to send pictures to the frame. You can also go online and set up options such as to have the frame receive and show photos automatically. There is an option to review pictures before releasing them to appear. Very nice all around. The screen is large and has vivid colors. Will buy again for another family member later.

Finally a frame that knows when a photgraph is flipped sideways!

I feel bad for the folks with the negative reviews about this product. I hope it gets straightened out for them. I got this last week and have had it running non-stop and thus far, its just wonderful! I love being able to send photos to the frame via Email and having control over the organization of the frame. Now when I am out and about and I take a picture with my smart phone, Wala! Straight to the frame's Email address! No more worrying about never getting to see the pic again. I did buy a 64GB card to go with the frame so I could finally capture all those digital moments that I have scattered all over various drives and such (I know many of you out there are like this too). Get the frame, it works just fine. Get a card too, you'll be happier for the added room. Add a card reader to the pile. The remote works nicely, the construction is solid and the 10 inch frame is just about perfect - I think 8 would be too small for me to enjoy. The frame does a great job of flipping sideways photos for proper orientation, a smart frame, I love it. There's so much positive to say, but I feel like its really not necessary. Want a good digital frame? Make the order and relax.

This is my 4th and I love them more than ever

If you haven't purchased one of these you are really missing the boat. This is my 4th and I love them more than ever. I gave one to my aged parents who don't get out much as well as for a wedding gift. My kids are older and scattered across the country, so its a great way to stay connected. Simply give friends and family your email address for the frame (you get one with each frame) and tell them to randomly send you pics. Its sooo much fun to see new photos show up of kids, grandkids, etc. Plus, when you go out of town, send your own photos from vacations, etc. When you get home the new pics are already on the frame to reminder you of your trip. TIP: Get the PixStar app for sending photos to the frame. The reason why is this. When anyone sends a pic to your frame is needs to be "actual size" when sent from the phone. If sent in small, medium, or large, it will not fill up the frame. If sent in "actual size" it WILL fill up the frame properly. The great thing about the app is that is automatically sends all photos in the proper size. So, you don't have to remember. All of my kids have the app because they could never remember. My only knock on the frame is that videos don't seem to show up too well. They are a bit grainy. But, that's OK because you'll get 99% photos rather than videos anyways...

Big, Beautiful Frame Backed By a Customer-centered Company! Details...

I'm a fan of Pix-Star frames, I have several. The 10.4" ones are great, but the 15" is a BEAUTY to behold! I mounted mine on a tilt-swivel Amazon Basics TV wall mount in my kitchen. It's GORGEOUS and my pics look great! This is a BIG frame and works great for vast landscape photos, or high-quality "people & pets" pics. It has a higher resolution than other frames, so if you have lower-res images, they might not look smooth on this frame, if you stretch them. I never stretch my images, so the lower-res ones I have just show up smaller on the display, with black space around them. Perfect for my needs. All of the pix-star frames I own offer good image quality, generous viewing angles, frequent firmware updates (easy via wi-fi) and lots of good features, (timer modes, calendar options, transition options, web radio, remote, etc) in addition to the big draw: wi-fi capabilities & connection to dozens of web album platforms (facebook, picasa, zenfolio, flickr, etc.). I am an "enthusiast-level" photographer and am very picky about viewing my images. Pix-star delivers. Love that I can so easily display my images and manage them from anywhere in the world, as long as the frame has wi-fi access. I often travel and send my photos, while travelling, to loved ones' frames back home. We are not a facebook family, so it's nice for them to be able to view my travels, as they are happening. In addition, they like that they can send and receive pics without needing a computer or a smartphone! They can send directly from the frame, or take a pic with a camera, put the SD card in the frame, and then email it anywhere they want. Easy! Images can also be easily emailed TO the frame (from anything with email access, including smartphones, and another frame) And, with the new iOS app, images can be selected from apple devices and sent to any linked frame. I also like that via web-synced albums (such as with Picasa), I can edit photos on my computer and, once synced, they are automatically edited on the frame, saves me from having to delete and upload everytime I make an adjustment. Now, for birthdays, instead of buying more gifts and giving people more "stuff", I just upload a new batch of pics to their frame - people love it! Sometimes, I even create little messages for them and send that! And, VERY high praise for the Pix-Star support team! It is rare to find such 5-star support on an electronic device in this day-and-age. Yes, this frame might be pricier than other wi-fi frames, but the service you receive is well worth it! This frame is quite easy to set-up and manage. But, if you have questions, the company is very responsive. The frame has built-in speakers, but if you want, you can hook up external speakers (via 3.5mm audio cable) for even better sound. I haven't tried it, but I imagine you can make a bluetooth setup happen, if you attach a bluetooth transmitter device to the 3.5mm jack and use speakers that are automatically paired to that transmitter. I have some bluetooth headphones that are like this, they will only pair with their own transmitter, that you can plug into an audio-producing device. A few things to note on newer vs older frames: -Plastic Frame- The newer frames (10.4 & 15") have a shiny black gloss plastic frame around the screen, while the older frames had a matte black plastic frame. I prefer the matte (personal preference for matte, in general), but the gloss is well-done. -Remote Port- The newer frames have a "cut-out" area (looks like a little speaker) for the remote "reception port", where the older frames had a solid "window". Again, I do prefer the older, solid style, but maybe the new one allows for a better range of reception? -Included Remote- The newer frames have a beefier remote, with actual, cushy buttons and requiring AAA batteries (included!). The older frames had the "credit card" style remote, with flatter buttons, and the "disc / watch" batteries (also included!). I liked the slimmer profile of the old remote, but the AAA batteries are easier to replace for the rare time you'll need to do that (or, better yet: we use rechargables), and the new buttons may be easier for some hands to push effectively. The new remote has a great operating angle, as well, allowing communication from a wide variety of angles. It seems as if the remotes are all on the same "frequency", so my newer remotes operate my older frames. Good if you just want to use one remote for all your frames and if you prefer one remote style over another. Bad if you want to individually control one frame that is in close proximity to another (fix for this: simply cover the remote window/IR port of the other frame while you are using the remote). -Firmware/Features- Also, the older frames seem to have a limit on how far the firmware updates go, and the new frames seem to be on a different firmware update track. Some features now available with the newer frames (additional timers, viewing options, transitions, video playback, etc) do not seem to be available on the older frames (and vice-versa - there was a transition mode I preferred on the older frame, that is not available on the newer ones - I'll email the company and see what they say). In addition, the transitions on the older frames were a bit "smoother", and they are a bit more "active" on the newer ones. I prefer the older, slower, smoother ones, but the newer, faster, bouncier ones are more "current", and possibly more popular. Yes, there are many things I liked about the older frames that are gone with the newer frames, but honestly, I wouldn't even miss them, had I not owned so many of the older style in the first place. Plus, the major features (excellent image quality, wi-fi capabilities, web albums syncing, and customer service/support) are still there, in abundance, so the nits I could pick for that wouldn't even dock a star, comparatively. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend Pix-Star and I LOVE my GORGEOUS, HUGE 15" wi-fi frame! I rely on reviews to help me make informed decisions. I hope this review helped you :)

We picked Pix-Star!

I bought my mother-in-law a Ceiva many years ago. She liked it quite a bit, however paying a monthly fee really began to add up and we discontinued it. Next we gave her an iPad and and thought that we could just use photo sharing to share pictures with her. She had difficulty remembering to charge the iPad, with her passwords and navigating through apps although we tried really hard to make it as simple as possible. With new great-grandchildren this year we knew that she felt really left out when she couldn't see pictures so once again I searched for a picture frame. I was so happy to find the Pix-Star! I set it up for her on my computer and then set it up on her wifi at home. She leaves it plugged in on the counter and says she sits down to watch the photos 3 times everyday. I set the controls to be motion activated so she doesn't have to worry about turning it off and on. Shared the easy email address with all the cousins and she is able to see new pictures and short videos instantly. It is truly a wonderful gift and blessing for an older parent or someone who is technology challenged. AND there is NO monthly fees associated with the frame! We absolutely love it!

Great frame, perfect gift that will keep on giving!

We got this for my mother, who is technologically challenged, for Christmas. She loves it and says it is the best gift she has ever received, We love it because we do not have to go manually put pictures on it. Once you set up an email address for the frame and set the frame up initially, you can just email pictures to it from anywhere. My only complaint was that it looks like a digital device as opposed to a picture frame. To remedy that, I purchased a nice frame and cut out the back so that I could set the digital frame inside the nice frame. (See picture)
