Positive Feedback: + Thick and warm unlike many other hoodies out on the market. + Rain defender is a nice so the hoodie does not get soaked. + Protects me from the elements better than the cheaper hoodies I've owned. + Has a smaller 'kangaroo' front right pocket inside the larger pocket that is handy for carrying keys (or in my case a utility knife). + Pockets are durable enough for me to carry loose utility blades, Allen wrenches, and all sorts of other small hand tools for my job. Neutral Feedback: ~ Sizing does run a tad bit large. I like medium sized hoodies because of the snug fit, but the Carhartt medium is more along the lines of a large. I expected this from other reviews so it was my educated decision to get the medium anyways. Negative Feedback: - Zipper does not have a smooth sliding action, but seems durable and not much of an issue in the long run. My Experience thus far: I've needed a hoodie that was thicker and more durable so that I can survive my factory job in the winter. This hoodie has taken a beating at my job where I crawl around machinery that is sharp, dirty, and sometimes very hot (250 - 300 degrees). It carries my small tools, screws and any other small items with out them falling out of my pockets. It is also very warm in the cold weather, one of the warmest hoodies I own. I will be definitely considering Carhartt for my next jacket/hoodie purchase, and you should too if you want a durable and warm hoodie.

I’m a female, 5’ 10” with a long torso and long arms. I can never find hoodies that seem to fit right, especially once they’re washed and dried (I stick my arms out and the sleeves are about 3 inches above my wrist). Talk about annoying!!! I searched and searched all over town to see if I could find someone locally that sold Large Tall Carhartt hoodies and of course, no luck. I can say that once washed and dried, the shrinkage was little to none, and the quality is amazing. It is very heavy, so it’s definitely a fall or winter hoodie only. The tall size is going to be my go-to now though because clearly Carhartt knows what they’re doing!

Well, I sure subjected this to a rain test. Got caught in the proverbial torrential downpour. Several times. When I received this "hoodie" I had my doubts. It is a solid Carhartt, with all the finery Carhartt is famous for and why I bought this anyway. But, it seemed like a heavy cotton jacket where one would wonder if it would shed a single drop of water say nothing about a 3 inch downfall over one hour. It did. Water ran off and I stayed dry. The elastic bands around the end of the sleeves got damp. Otherwise everything was dry. The fit is not exact. This is meant to be layered and it fits very well for that purpose. I am 6' and 200lbs. The large fits well over a light vest. I expect many years of hard use out of this jacket.

This is a great hoodie. It's thick and carhartt quality. I wear it out in 32 degree weather, any colder and I move to a coat. Have worn it in the rain and stayed dry. I was worried it would feel weird becuase if the rain gaued but you cant tell its on it after a wash or two. I'm 5'10, 230lbs, athletic build, and wear the large.

LOVE this sweatshirt! I'm a female that saw this on a male friend and LOVED the collar and hood feature--HAD to have it It's comfy and a nice rugged thick material--also water repellant. Even has an additional internal pocket in the front pouch pocket--great for a cell phone or lighter! I bought it in black. I like my sweatshirts a little baggy with room to shrink--I got a Medium. I'm 5'6'', 150lb--hope this review helps!

I now have a new favorite sweatshirt. I would recommend reading the reviews, and trying on some Carhartt products before purchasing online. I am 5' 11", and 210 lbs. I usually wear an XL. After trying on similar Carhartt products and reading the reviews, I purchased a Large-Tall and am very happy with the fit. Reason for sizing choice: I do not like sleeves that ride up the arm when you either stretch out or raise over your head. This shirt does not do that. Having the zipper not only looks good, but makes it easier to put on and take off. The reviews I read stated they run a size bigger. Also that getting a Tall size makes up in length in the sleeve and waist, that you loose by having a smaller size than normal. As I usually order an XL, this Large-Tall is a perfect fit. Actually fits in length better than normal XL I get. There appears to be no shrinking after washing and the rain defender is perfect for short exposures or light rain. It IS NOT a rain jacket.

This is a typical Carhartt product. By that, I mean two things: 1) the quality is phenomenal. 2) it runs large. I'm 5'10", 210 lbs and the large fits me loosely (which is the way I like it) There are several features to note: - the zipper is super heavy duty - there is a small "security" pocket inside the large hand-warmer pocket (perfect for my iPhone 5) This is sweatshirt is perfect for everyday use. It looks great, it feels comfortable and keeps me warm. I would use this as my outer layer in anything down to 35-40 degrees. If it's colder than that, I'll go with a jacket.

Bought this for my boyfriend who works outside on pipelines. Material has a different feel, but it does protect from the rain! The outside material almost feels like it has a coating. The inside is super soft! It holds up in the wash great. He doesn’t wash his clothes in any special way like I do with mine and the material feels the same. He always insists on light colored hoodies, but he works outside so it gets dirty fast. All stains came out in the wash! He wears extra large and it fit well, just loose enough to wear stuff underneath and still have room to move. He loves the zipper on the neck line, that way it doesn’t choke you like most hoodies do. Will be buying him other colors for christmas!

Fits like all Carhatrr big. I am 5’11” 225. Wear xl. This xl is a bit baggy which is comfortable to me. You’re not swimming in it, but it’s not tight either. This is the “heavy weight” and I do not see any difference in being warmer than the mid weight. The mid weight was softer. This one is more stiff but seems to be same material and thickness. Have not warn in cold weather yet. I will updatvafter my trip up north I’m a couple weeks. I’m in Florida and wanted this hoodie for cool days in my Jeep with no top. It says rain resistant and I believe it will repel water. Heavy duty zipper. Hood is big, big enough for my giant head. Overall- I’m happy with it. If I were to buy again, I’d probably go with mid weight. It’s 10$ cheaper and seemed to me exactly the same.

Carhartt classic over-engineered product. That's why we buy them. It is heavy weight fabric so perfect for cooler days - 45 degree. It is water resistant for the rains and monsoons we get in the Arizona High Country but not sure how it would stand up to a sustained hard rainy work day in the NorthWest. Pockets are large for large hands, the zipper large and rugged and of course all stitching is carhartt bullet proof sturdy. This is for work and the water and tear that brings. If you wear it for runs to Starbuck's it will last your lifetime, if for work it will still go many years and dirt & oil do wash out of it without affecting the water proofing - at least so-far. I retreat all my outdoor gear annually with after market water proofing and this will no different.
