• ▲ MULTIFUNCTION WIRE TRACING - Fast to locate the breakpoint without wire's cover damage, find the required line among numerous ones, perfect for tracking RJ11, RJ45, cables or other metal wire (via adapter); And also with the Battery(10V-110V) positive and negative measurements function
  • ▲NETWORK & TELEPHONE LINE TEST - It testes physical connection status of network cable, such as open circuit, short connection, miswire and reverse connection; Use the emitter to test the status of working of telephone lines (such as judging TIP or RING line), test the line level, positive and negative polarity detection; Adjust the volume of receiver by pressing the volume rotary knob
  • ▲WIRE TRACKER - It can trace not only Ethernet LAN wires, but also electrical and speaker wires when connecting to the alligator clip; In this situation, the wires must be in power-off status, otherwise the units will be damaged; It is recommended to stripe down some of the wires when connecting through the clip; Select "SCAN"; Emitter works properly if the "SCAN" indicator is on; Use the receiver to find target wires
  • ▲EARPHONES DESIGN - With a pair of Earphone, you can just connect the earphone to the headset jack of receive to get clear information in a noise environment; Notice that if the sound is low, you should check whether the battery is powered off or not, and the LED flashlight allows operation in dark situation

Needed to replace a CAT5e RJ11 jack from previous phone system with RJ45. The problem was - I didn't know which cable went to which room. Got this kit to figure it out. When I first got it tho, I heard no beeps. After testing with the included cable, I realized that the wand was too quiet (or not sensitive enough). Luckily Amazon replaced it quickly and I was able to do what I needed. Was even able to test my new jacks with the included tester. Didn't get all the connections right the first time so had to redo and this tool saved me again. Very nice set for a hobbyist.

Works perfectly and the price is right. I was able to locate ethernet cables, even behind the wall. I discovered a cable that was wired backwards (A on one side and B on the other), and I was even able to sort out coax cables although that was a little more difficult. The LED flashlight even came in handy at one point. This tool allowed me to complete a job that would have been impossible otherwise and already paid for itself. As long as it holds up over time this is a no-brainer to have in your toolbox.

Works pretty good, my friend has a fluke and honestly i havent really seen any difference between the two for what i use it. You are not limited to use it only on phone and ethernet cables, you can use the black and red clips to send a tone to any other cable, like the electrical outlets (but make sure the breaker is off or you will smell like fried fish) or any kind of wire.

Excellent item. I am a network specialist and have worked with many high-end tone generators and I was pleasantly surprised with this item. It did what it said it would do and more. I was actually able to determine the location and followed the cat5 that was fed within the wall behind my home theater cabinet. A+ rating on this multi function tool.

Personal background: Network engineer at university of 5000+ students. I got it on a lightening deal so paid very little for it. I have been amazed at how well it works. Yes, I have access to a professional high dollar Fluke that we share across the networking team. However, I like having this one always with me in my backpack, since it is only on occasion I need one... After using it, I'm not sure I will bother using the Fluke any more - yes the Fluke can take more abuse is clearly better - but this is good enough to get the job done, is always with me, costs a fraction of buying a Fluke. I have toned out cables in old buildings easily and clearly and have used the wire testing feature. I wish the batteries were AA instead of 9 volt, that you didn't need a screwdriver to remove the battery cover, and that the buttons to turn the device on weren't so easy to activate that it makes me afraid it will happen in my backpack - those are my negatives. Not enough to knock a star off at the price, though.

It works as advertised but not efficiently. Tracer can hardly pickup the wire behind walls. You have to listen very hard to discern the slight change in volume when tracing wires behind walls. I bought a wire tracer from home depot and that one was able to pickup the wires in walls without a problem. Update 12/11/18: Seller contacted me and issued partial refund because apparently this device is not capable of detecting wires behind the wall. They said they will change the description. The product did not deliver as promised but im happy with their pro active customer service.

This thing is PERFECT for tracing one wire located in a bunch of wires. When I purchased my house, it was pre-wired with wires for the alarm system. So there is a big bundle of about 40 wires in my furnace closet, each one going to a different door or window, etc. This tracer thing was a serious life-saver. I connected the "sending" side to the wire hanging out of the the wall (for motion detector), and then used the "sensing" device to find the matching wire in the big bundle. It took about 10 seconds, and I found it. The sensing device makes a noise when it's close to or touching the matching wire with the sending attached to it. Really easy to do. I used it to identify each wire, and now they are all correctly labeled and ready for the installer. (He wanted an extra $200 for just doing the wire identification, and I think he would have just used the exact same tool.)

Been using this tracker for a while now to perform a network rewire at our hardware store, and it has been a godsend. Being able to hook up both ethernet and phone lines to check every individual line ran is a massive time saver. Coupled with the ability to test the individual wires in CAT5 1-8 in a easy-to-read lighted output, there's no room for error when diagnosing or tracing to replace. Fantastic for the price, unless you leave the transmitter on all night like I do. Then it's new battery time. But that's not a product fault, but a brain fault. Only con is the earphones it comes with. They're potato. But who expects dollar earphones to be good? Buy a nicer set of 2.5mm jack ones, since it comes with a 2.5mm jack.

Perfect Tool for any network specialist and a must if doing network drops or troubleshooting connection issues. Much cheaper than than the more expensive brands. Best part is....it even comes with a batteries so you can start troubleshooting or locating your twisted pair. It even has its own carrying case makes it easy to store out of sight and out of mine. It has all of the same bells and whistles as the more expensive "fluke networks" brand but at an 1/8th of the price. I've been using CT01 for almost a month and it's paid for itself 5-times over.
