I just received the cork planner today and so far it's excellent! One of the biggest gripes with my old one (which had a similar composition) was that I kept having to flip through to get to the right month and day. With this, it's so much easier. My old one had one page marker, but it would always slipped out. This one has a band to keep it all in place. It also lays pretty flat, has a larger daily section (that is lined) and has two page markers (which I appreciate so I can bookmark my current week and the notes section without much effort). The cover is pretty sturdy and so are the pages. The inking is solid with neutral colors, so your writing is emphasized. I've become more stable with using a planner (before I was very sporadic with them) and so having a lovely one like this is really great. Also, this planner is well designed. It doesn't feel like it was haphazardly put together. There's a decent amount of space in the monthly section and an adequate amount of space in the weekly section (unlike some planners).

I'm a bit of a planner-nerd, so I've experienced a few of the products on the market over time, and have gotten a feel for what makes a good planner, and what's going to drive me insane over months of use. This planner ticks all of the essential boxes for me in terms of what I need to track, while also providing excess "blank" space for taking notes and keeping track of things in my life that don't fit the "standard" spreads. Each month is tabbed, and includes spreads for the month as a whole at a glance, with room to write events in each day's box. Following that is a set of weekly spreads, with each week being spaced out over two pages. There's a future log with a few lines for planning major events or tasks occurring in each month, followed by sections for contacts, and a healthy number of pages for notes. Two ribbons are provided to mark your current place, which is a nice feature as I often need to keep track of where I am in the date timeline, as well as mark my place for important notes. A handy-dandy rear pocket, pen holder, and elastic ribbon to hold the journal closed are also nice features. I'm not entirely sure what the paper weight of the pages are, but they should work well for the average user's pen strokes. I use a variety of pen types in my journaling, and I've included some demo images to show how the various popular pen types perform. I did notice a bit of ghosting, so I think that the paper weight is somewhere in the range between the Leuchtturm journals (too thin for me), and the Lenome dotted bullet journal (my current journal of choice). The ghosting was moderate, and was not noticeable once the opposite page was written on. Not pictured is a standard ballpoint pen, which did not ghost at all. I feel like the future log would be better positioned towards the beginning of the notebook rather than towards the back, but other than that I think the journal is well-laid out and a great value. The cork cover feels nice in the hands, and the journal itself is light and easily fits in a medium sized purse.

I have tried a *lot* of planners over the years, and I think this might be The One. Here's why: The paper is lovely. I have a few Lemome journals, and this planner has the same thick, smooth, high-quality off-white paper. It's really beautiful to write on, and there's no ghosting (I fluctuate between Tül gel pens and Uniball Vision Elite). One super nice feature of this planner is the thumb indexing for the months. There are no sticky-outy tabs here (yay! I hate tabs!). The pages for each of the months have a shallow cut in the margin so you can flip right to the month you're looking for. Because the paper is so thick, you don't feel like you're going to rip pages doing that flip. The pages lie flat, which makes it easy to write, and the binding is sewn, so this book is not going to fall apart. There are two ribbons (different colors, even!) to mark your place (bonus: the ends are finished and they are not obnoxiously long, so you're not going to have to cut them to shorten them and have them fray). The layout of the weekly and monthly pages is simple and effective. There is no wasted space. Kudos to Lemome for listing the holidays on both the monthly and weekly pages, but in such a way that is subtle and takes up almost none of the writing room, unlike some other journals. The monthly pages have a small space for notes and a thumbnail calendar of the previous and next month, which is a really nice touch. They are interspersed within the weekly pages, which usually drives me nuts, but because of the clever thumb indexing, it doesn't bother me here. The weekly spreads start on Monday, which is exactly what I need. Saturday and Sunday each have their own space, even though it's half the size of the other days. This is important to me because I like to make my lists precisely on a particular day, not have them lumped together. There is even a spread for planning the next year at the end of the weekly pages. Other features: yearly overview calendars for 2019 & 2020, holiday listing for 2019–2021, a 2-page spread overview of July 2019–June 2020, 8 pages for listing contacts (I probably won't use them for that, but nice for those who need that and easy to use for general notes if you'd rather), about 80 pages in the back for notes, and a pocket for loose papers. There's a handy, sewn-on elastic pen loop that fits both of the styles of pens I use (it is too big for a pencil or thinner pen, though) and an elastic band to hold the planner shut. The cover is cork, and it feels really nice in my hand. And it came in a nice box, which protected it during shipping and would make it easy to wrap as a gift. The only improvements I would make to this planner would be (1) make it available in a larger size and (2) rearrange the weekly spread so Monday–Thursday is on the left and Friday–Sunday is on the right followed by an equal space for weekly tasks or reminders. It would give a bit less space to each day but a full space to Saturday and Sunday, and it would give me a place to jot tasks that need to be done sometime that week but not on a specific day. This planner is well thought out and well made, and I'm looking forward to carrying it with me through the next year.

Sorry, this will be lengthy. I vow to tell my thoughts, opinions, and absolutely nothing but the truth. Supplies I used to test are listed in the photos. I believe that 95% or higher of them can be purchased here on Amazon (mainly because this is my go-to store for just about everything!) I have a hectic life, and have been bouncing back and forth between do-it-all-yourself bullet journals (sadly, I can fill one in a month), and pre-made planners, including ones that you can create your own hybrid. I love trying new things, too. I've been eyeballing similar 'cork cover' planners and journals for months. I would shake my head and snort: cork... THAT won't last long! I have several cats that think cork is the best scratching surface ever! No, I thought... it just won't last, even if it IS beautiful and sustainable. I would pass on by, still shaking my head. Yesterday, I decided to take the plunge. I had a little $ to purchase my mother's day present with, so why not, I thought? I'd heard from a fellow BUJO group member on FB how great her cork journal was... ok. Let's do this! This planner, however, caught my eye. It started at the perfect time, as I already have a dot grid journal ready for June... and what if, I thought, I can end this madness of 1 journal a month? At 15$, it was within my price range. What if.... I can actually go a whole year, in ONE BOOK? Is it even POSSIBLE? Ooo, a challenge! That settled it. This was going to be mine! I quickly checked out and eagerly awaited my planner, which... as you can tell... arrived today. I eagerly ripped the padded envelope apart and pulled out a VERY elegant box! WHAAAAT? It's perfect for gifting as well? For the first time, I regretted not knowing how to make a YouTube video. This is one item I would have eagerly unboxed in front of the world - and I'm pretty camera-shy! I admired the simple but elegant box design, wrapped in protective plastic. Anyone, I thought, who loves to plan, would love receiving this as a gift. I kept the box to reuse in a multi-media project later. My jaw dropped as I carefully pulled the planner out of the box, expecting tiny pieces of cork to flutter out like earth-glitter. Nope. Holding it, I realized for its size, it's actually pretty substantial, but still light enough (and small enough) to put in a purse, a backpack, or a briefcase. I touched it. I rubbed a finger over it. I rubbed harder. Nope - no cork! It feels like fine-grain leather, to be honest. I'm not sure HOW they managed this, but wow. They should cover bulletin boards with this! I'll keep it safe from the cats, just to be safe, however! Lol. Ok. The description said you could faintly smell the wood. Super-sniffer, ACTIVATE! I sniffed the top. I sniffed along the front. All I could smell was "new book". Oh, don't get me wrong - that's a pretty heady smell. Then... I sniffed the spine... and again, smiling. THERE it was! Hidden beneath the odor of paper! I turned my attention the to the inside, where I was delighted by the lay-flat aspect. I didn't have to hold down a single page for my pictures! I took pics as I eagerly investigated the contents. Elegant is the best word for it. Thought went behind the design of this planner, and it shows. It actually delights all the senses (yes, taste as well, as part of smelling activates taste). Touch... the pages are thick but smooth, and feel & smell delicious. My fingers actually itched with the desire to test various mediums on it. They are a soft ivory, and in the "test" image, I used several white pens so you can see the shade difference. Unlike my stark-white drawing pad, this paper soothed my eyes. I now understand why book paper tends to be an off-white shade instead of pure white. The pages whispered as I turned them, telling me THIS Planner certainly is not just living up to the sellers description... but exceeding it. Ok, I finally got to test items for ghosting and bleeding. I always do this in the back of any new planner or journal, even ones I use "just" for writing. I like to know what I can - and cannot- use in them, if creativity happens to strike, and I want to... for example... zentangle my calendar, or doodle in color around the edges of pages. I grabbed some fairly commonly used things except ink pens & pencils. As you can see, yes, there is some ghosting. Some items were, of course, worse than others, but none were horrible. As in... "omg, if I use this, I simply CANNOT use the backside of that page!". Every single item I would use in this - maybe not often in the case of the black brush pen, but I would use it if I felt it needed it. There were only pinpricks of bleed-through on a few items, but keep in mind - even the markers, I went over 2 or 3x! A quick light hand makes for no bleeding. I'd judge this paper at 110 or 120GSM. I tested the elastic band, was DELIGHTED at the gorgeous coordinating ribbons, and already have a pen in the loop... my dedicated Academic Year Cork-Covered Planner Pen. I've a feeling I'll need a new pen before I need a new planner! Is it sad that I am now eagerly awaiting July 1? Not just because it's my 15th anniversary of hubs' and my first date, 14th of engagement, and 8th of marriage... but also because I officially get to "move in" to this beautiful planner that will be a continuous feast for my senses. As an aspiring artist - it's the little things like that that fuel creativity. So, if you are on the fence about this, especially because of the cork... I urge you to take a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Love the aesthetic of the planner itself. The cork grain is a really nice touch visually. The pages are perfectly sized to write down your to-do or create a list for the day. This is my second year of ordering a planner with them and love love love the pre separated month tabs in this book. The back folder pocket is perfect for misc. important items or doctors notes. Only wish it would have come with some date stickers and maybe less contact pages as I don’t know 5/6 pages worth of contacts that need to be written down. But I’m sure I can use the pages for something else. I might tape a print out world map for one of the pages. But overall love the size of the planner too. Easily fits into my backpack and most of my handbags I use. Doesn’t seem any more bulky even with the random pieces of paper that get paper clipped in too. Thanks for the awesome planner. Can’t wait to fill it with the next years stories and memories.

So I have not included pictures here because there are so many in the comments that explain it all. This planner is perfect. I have been trying to find something a bit smaller that my usual full sized notebook planner that still has room for everything I need, and this is it. I love the cork cover, place for my pen and back pocket. I NEEDED the elastic to keep t shut in my purse and I was so excited about the attached ribbon bookmarks. For me, the best thing though is the setup, it has tabs for each month and the monthly/weekly entry pages are located together instead of being separated with full calendars in the front and weeklies in the back like I am used to. In order to find all these things in a well made planner I often had to sacrifice something. I made no sacrifices with this and the only compliant I have is that I have to wait till July to make the switch! I definitely recommend this product!

4.5 stars! First thing I noticed, it came in it's own little box that was wrapped in a saran type plastic wrap on top of that inside the bubble mailer from Amazon. It was well protected. Upon opening, I found the faux cork brown cover. While it isn't actually the feel of traditional cork- it is a fabric type feel, not paper feel over the hardbound book or journal housing the Academic Planner. Next thing, a warranty card- I had no idea they did this- a refund for any reason card- Free 3 month warranty. An opportunity for them to make something right before someone leaves a negative review if something were to go wrong. Sounds like a great plan to me. Hopefully nothing will go wrong, but if it does in the first 3 months I have their email and they said they will help me out. Okay so then I actually get into the planner itself. Landing page, overview page for the 2019/2020, holiday page 2019/2020/2021/ Then the Academic Planner Year at a Glance type page (I attached a picture). I liked that this was here, it gives you an option to color code or block off a time frame like breaks, travel, etc... Next was the meat of the planner the monthly calendar and then daily pages in sections that were tabbed out by the months stacking on top of each other. This was a feature that I thought could have used some more work - I would have preferred a slightly more substantial tab for flipping back and forth. At the end of the calendar pages, there are other extras -future planning pages, contact pages, 2 ribbons for marking pages, and then the remaining are pages of notes. I really like this as we can use these notes pages as we see fit. They could be for bullet journaling, taking notes at a meeting, etc... Following the end of the actual pages there is a pouch for sliding a receipt of perhaps a loose notecard. This same area has a pen loop attached and an elastic that can be used as a closure on the planner itself. The only other "negatives" that I can think of right now since I have just gotten this planner are: the paper, while thicker than most and better on eyes than most for sure- I would prefer it to be a higher gsm I'm concerned some of the pens I use regularly for bullet journaling might not be able to be used in this planner. After using a ballpoint pen there was some ghosting. I'm sure standard ballpoint pens will be fine and maybe some of my gelpens, we will see. The other thing of note for me besides the tabs I mentioned before would be color options and having one like this as a regular planner not just academic. :) So far I am happy with this planner. It impressed me more than I thought it would. (Although I am a reviewer for this item, this is my opinion at 4.5 stars).

This planner is inexpensive, but not cheap! It has almost everything I need in a planner. There are a lot of blank pages at the back, but I don't use the notes section very much, so this was a wash for me. I would probably prefer less blank pages and to have a thinner, lighter planner. Pros: The paper is nice for fountain pens and so far the ink has not feathered, ghosted, or bled through. The cork cover is both durable and pretty. I feel sure it will last a year. It is the perfect size to tuck in my purse. I need a monthly and weekly spread, both of which this has. It has an elastic pen loop. It comes in a little gift box (since it was for me, this was not a factor in my purchase). Cons: I need more space for contacts and would prefer this section to be in a format similar to an address book. I can't fit an entire address on such a small space. In fact, I can barely fit a full name in the box, and I write small. I realize that many people use their phones for contacts, so I am probably in the minority here. The elastic pen loop is rather small, not all my pens will fit. You can fit a Pilot Metropolitan, Pilot Kakuno, Platinum Preppy, and Jinhao Shark. You can not easily fit a TWSBI eco, Noodler's Ahab, or Kaweco Sport (well, the Kaweco will fit below the cap, but is likely to fall out) without risk of ruining the elastic by overstretching. The monthly tabs are not reinforced. I use the tabs and will probably have curling or tears before the year is through. So even though there are some things I would change if I could, I am really happy with it. I would buy this planner again, but I would love it if they made the tabs sturdier and improved the contacts section.

I LOVE this planner. It covers 2019-2020 starting from July of 2019 and ends in July of 2020. Each month gets a 2-page calendar spread and then every day has 10 lines to writing on - plenty of space for jotting down plans or memories. The months are tabbed via cut-outs, so they are easy to navigate to. In the beginning of the planner there is a yearly overview featuring small calendars of every month. There is also a list of holidays all the way through 2021. There is also a planning grid that covers 2 pages, with every day of every month getting a small slot. This is perfect for a quick overview of things or keeping track of something specific without having to page through the months (so you can see all your planning at once). At the back of the book there are 79 lined pages for notes/writing as well as 8 contact pages. Other nifty features: there is a pen holder, 2 bookmarks, a pocket at the back and an elastic closure band. The cover is made from cork tree bark. It's smooth to the touch and has a nice natural look to it. The words on the front are slightly embossed. It's a beautiful planner! Having said all of that - a feature that is very important to me with a planner or journal is to be able to use a variety of writing tools and markers without having them bleed through or ghost. This planner has high quality, thick pages that take thin markers, including sharpies, with NO bleed through or ghosting (see the screenshots). You can only see the marks on the other side if you hold it up to the light. I don't recommend alcohol based markers, but colored ink markers, my fountain pen, glitter pens, and thin sharpies work great. This planner is exactly what I was looking for. It's high quality, with sewn pages, thick paper, nice features, and a perfect size. I love it!

I did a fair amount of research when I was looking for a planner, and the ratings and reviews for this one convinced me to give it a try. Having just finished up my bullet journal, I was hoping for a planner that had room for creativity and customization, and this has exceeded my expectations. The notes pages in the back provide ample room for tracking habits and other things I'd become accustomed to recording in my bullet journal, and the relatively plain nature of the weekly/monthly pages leaves a lot of room for bringing in personal color preferences. As other reviews have mentioned, the planner did come in a cute little box that makes it ideal for gifting--assuming you happen to know someone in the market for a planner right now. I think this planner will serve me well in the upcoming academic year, and the fact that it starts in July makes it perfect for me, as I'll be taking some summer classes. Honestly, no complaints here. It looks nice, feels sturdy, and has everything you could need in a planner. The cover and the pages are all high quality, and I'm eager to start using the planner at university.
