2nd Camera was a WINNER!
Ordered as an outside wifi camera. Fairly easy to setup. Excellent video quality; good low-light performance. Had problems with WiFi. WiFi works when camera is withing 10' of the router. But when moved outside, it can't make the WiFi connection. I've spoke with support 3 times; no resolution. I was promised that I'd hear from Level 2 support, but never got a call. If you want a wired camera, this would be a good choice. But it's WiFi performance is terrible. UPDATE - Decided to return camera. Ordered the same model camera (FI9900P) again. This time, the WiFi works. It's mounted outside, and doing a great job. Love the picture, love the low-light performance, love the resolution. We'll be ordering more of these! Bottom line ... support was easy to reach and helpful, but after the 3rd call, they should have suspected bad hardware, and processed an RMA.

Terrific camera at reasonable price
Bought another Foscam to now have a bank of 4. Previously I called tech support to set it up. This time tech support emailed me steps that I followed. Downloaded from play store Foscam app, used it to scan qr code on camera, and rest fell into place such that I now see live action on my cellphone as well as on computer. Thank you Desmond. Pics show daytime and predawn while dark out. Update - Have to say very good customer service. As I found out when we recently had a problem with a camera that worked fine for a while then had an issue. When I contacted support staff at foscam by email they answered me promptly to help me. Special thanks to Tracy who sent me necessary info needed to fix my security camera and followed up with me to make sure everything went well and to assure I felt satisfied. I own four active cameras from them now and they work reliably. I recommend these folks.

The best outdoor camera!
What I liked about FI9900P is that it was very easy to install it right under the eaves of my detached garage, I used for this an electric plastic box for outdoor application and attached the camera to the lid in which I drilled a hole for the wires to go in and two small holes for the bolts holding the camera. I did the initial setup of camera with wireless using Foscam software. It was super easy. Because my garage is at a distance from the room in my house where I have the router I added a wireless repeater for the garage, resulting in a strong wifi signal at the camera. I verified this using a wifi signal analyzer app on my cell phone. The first step for the software setup was to connect it with ethernet cable to the router and let Foscam software search for cameras. Programming network connection required some basic knowledge of LAN. Once this was done I got the password key for the wireless and could verify that all was working via wireless on my home LAN. For managing of my multiple security cameras I've been using a Blue Iris software. That is in my view a must if you're serious about how the system should work. For making it work in a WAN I am using No-IP dot com service which gives me a way to address my system that looks like it had a static IP (that's no-ip magic!). All in all, the camera was added seamlessly and with no issues. Installation was easy. The feature set is very rich and flexible and works well with Blue Iris.

Great camera and a great open ecosystem.
Skip the Belkin and Nest stuff unless you enjoy paying out the nose for cloud storage. Without storage a security camera isn't all that great. That's what sets Foscam apart. You get an amazing product at a great price and you get fantastic software for interfacing with the camera. You get cloud storage (8 hours for free or pay to upgrade). The free tier is a great start. The thing that really sets this apart though is that the camera is available over the local network through HTTP and RSTP meaning you can roll your own motion capture and storage (Personally I use "motion" on linux for this). I've got a couple of Belkin indoor cameras and those are so closed off that they are worthless on the network. You buy storage from belkin or you toss them in the garbage. It's really a shame to see the newer players in the field go to this closed ecosystem pay-to-play. Stick with Foscam though and you are guaranteed a great product with limitless ways of accessing the video feed.

Best Cameras For the Money
When I read that the newer Foscam cameras were Alexa-enabled, I wanted this G2 model since my previous model I set up in May 2017 had performed so well. The setup was quick and easy with detailed step-by-step instructions. You can connect a video and audio RCA cable to be able to hear the camera's responses if you want but it wasn't necessary. (It is equipped to use like an old-school security camera with a LAN cable and audio/video RCA provided. ) You can power it with a LAN cable if you want, or use the provided AC adapter. The wifi connection is easy, and you can place the camera outdoors with a suitable outdoor power receptacle and everything else is wireless. You can manage the camera and view images and live feed with the phone app, or use the PC and a web browser for more advanced customization and control. Foscam has free downloads for tools to accomplish this. You can even program an FTP connection to upload files to a server, as well as use the free cloud subscription level, or upgrade to one of their affordable extended cloud storage plans. The images are fairly sharp (720px) and the daytime colors pretty lifelike. This model has a brand-new option feature to detect only-human motion, or all motion. I had a few questions about adding the new camera and customizing my paid cloud account with Foscam, and my email inquiries were handled quickly and efficiently by Tracy in customer support. None of the usual waiting for hours or days for an answer and resolution--Tracy had my answers within minutes from the other side of the world-Hong Kong. Thank you Tracy! I have set up and tested 8 models of 5 brands of security or IP cameras at my home and church, and by far- Foscam has been the easiest to set up and maintain. And the 2 Foscam models have been less expensive than any of them.

Quality outdoor camera for a reasonable price
Foscam is undoubtedly a famous brand in security. That's one of the main reasons I bought this camera. I have some other brands of security cameras around, inside and outside the house. From opening this product, the build quality of the camera, manual and software make it clear that they put a lot of effort into both the hardware and software, in addition to the overall presentation. Other brands will generally have lots of typos in the manual that make the setup process more difficult to follow. Setup and configuration was easy, and totally hassle-free if you do the wired route. You can use the IE browser to directly open the https://ip url to start the setup, or through their app. Both are easy to do. I personally prefer the traditional computer way, as I can read/view the configuration settings at-a-glance, and it appears to have more options. One interesting and great feature is that Foscam supports 3rd-party apps via ONVIF/RTSP! This is really a thumbs up since not many cameras are very compatible with 3rd-party apps. I have successfully added and used the camera using a famous free/paid app called TinyCam. This camera model is prepopulated in the app's list of supported cameras, actually. Also, VLC media player can open a url in the format of "rtsp://user:pass@ip:88/videoMain". Since 3rd-party ONVIF/RTSP stream is supported, the sky is the limit. You can manipulate the camera with your favorite app/software any way you want. Watch it in your office computer via rtsp stream, or feed it to some other DVR. Back to the camera itself: the product description pretty much says it all. For an outdoor camera, since it is mounted at some significant height above the ground and shooting footage at a distance, the 1080 HD quality will provide you the ability to zoom in on the picture/video to identify the objects much more easily and clearly. I have a different 720p model and that resolution just isn't enough to have a clear image. The image/video capture is awesome, for both day and night. The build quality is really for outdoor use so you don't need to worry about rain or bad weather. It also provides a connection for an external mic and speaker so that you can route the mic wherever you want it to pick up sound, like maybe near your doorbell button for picking up visitors' speech. Some other "standard" and useful features that you will find in this camera: user management with different access privileges, support of both wired/wireless connection (I like the fact that it still supports a wired connection so I can have a more stable and secure connection if CAT5 cable can run to the location), DDNS, SMTP mail (supports TLS), FTP, etc. not to mention motion recording. All functions and features are up to the standard of what you'd expect in a quality camera and from a quality brand name. I trust this outdoor camera is doing the job, and doing it right!

Great customer service from Foscam Support
First of all, I have three Foscam FI8900p IP cams that I rely on since we live out in the country and have a couple blind spots. I decided to try the newer FI9900p; the cam has 1080p HD (the 8900 is 720p). The 9900 also has a wider angle view which is great if you need that sort of thing. I did not have the best of luck with a brand new 9900 which just quit working after a couple of months, the power supply showed no output when measured and even after replacing it, no power to camera. I suspect a very close lightning strike may have contributed to the demise of the camera. I contacted Foscam support and my support rep Desmond was extremely helpful. We did some standard troubleshooting but the camera is kaput. Desmond provided me with an RMA and instructions so I sent it back to Foscam warranty (in my case, was in Houston) and within 10 days or so, had a brand new 9900. Customer support from Foscam is great! I have that new camera up and enjoying the peace of mind it affords. Thanks to Desmond and the Support crew for a very positive experience.

Great HD WiFi cam for the price if you don't need 4k or fancy features.
This is my fourth Foscam (second of this particular model). I have all 4 installed around the home via WiFi. Along with a PTZ model for the back yard area I have one of this particular model installed as a stationary view of my deck, and the second one mounted low near the ground as a wildlife trail camera (I looked high and low for a "regular trail camera" with wifi -- all of those wireless models use a cell signal, with subscription; I live in a mountainous area with lots of wildlife and have very good wifi, so coupled with Blue Iris software this is the best "trail cam" I have found!). For routine mobile viewing the Foscam mobile apps work great in both iPhone & Android (Note8). For my main configuration, I utilizing Blue Iris software (to get the best and most options for adjustment of motion detection and recording features) and these units all work great with that software as well. Note that this camera is a basic unit, no PTZ and no internal SD card storage, and doesn't even allow for left/right installation adjustment, but does capture full 1080 HD and works great for the installation I need for this particular angle of view.

This camera is awesome! Using FTP storage with ease.
I set this camera up pretty quickly, even though I had two screw heads shear off that complicated the install - cheap metal. No biggie tho because I've got tons of misc screws that did the job. The software is great. Follow the instructions closely. To give a quick overview: 1) Connect the camera via ethernet to your router or switch. If you are doing wifi, you configure that later. 2) Download the Equipment Search Tool Software from Foscam's website. 3) Scan for the device with the software. It will give you the IP and Port. Open the address in a browser. 4) Install the necessary plugin for the internet browser. 5) Create a new username and password after attempting to log into the camera's software. 6) In the Camera software, go to Settings tab and there you can setup Wifi and more. *** I recommend updating the firmware BEFORE switching to WiFi. *** I recommend setting a Static IP in your router for this camera. I setup an FTP service on my home computer and am only allowing the Camera's IP to connect. Then I configured the camera's settings to record everything to the FTP server. I also setup Dynamic DNS so that I can connect while I am away from home. Works perfect! Quality is superb!

Somewhat Tricky to Install and Limited Web Viewer
I got this installed and working to my satisfaction after a few trips to different sites on the Foscam website. I needed to do the install over WIFI as I had no available ethernet ports on my wireless only internet connection. I used my Android phone to download the Foscam app and followed the steps to add a camera using WIFI. The app requires you to create a Foscam account (free) and then takes you through the steps to add your camera. Once that was done, I wanted to view the camera on my PC web browser, but needed the ip address and http port number to enter into the web browser URL box. I used a tool downloaded from Foscam to discover the camera's ip address and port number. I later discovered that this information is also available within the Android app used to view the camera. I entered the ip address and port number (xxx.xxx.x.x:PORT#) into the browser URL and was presented with a login screen and notification that a plugin needed to be downloaded and installed. Once again I was asked to login and was able to go through a short setup to see a live view from the camera. All was well except that I couldn't see any way to play videos that had been stored on the camera micro SD card. I finally contacted Foscam support and was told that I needed to use Internet Explorer (Not Edge, Firefox, or Chrome) in order to playback stored videos. They responded within minutes with the information. As a followup question, I asked if they planned to support modern browsers and improve the user interface. Again they answered back promptly and said they planned on additional browser support and improvements to the user interface in the near future. The camera seems well made and picture quality is very good. It came with a short trial for their cloud storage service, but I have no interest in paying a recurring fee to store data from the camera.
