The analog stick is amazing. Very smooth, low resistance, unobtrusive deadzone. I actually used the stick without having to push it full tilt all the time. Also, the 2 grip layout means you don't have the issue of the 3 pronged controllers where you push forward and actually push the stick just off to the side. The buttons feel kinda meh, especially with the smooth and unlabeled shoulder buttons. The shell also has some flex between the two halves which you might notice if you grip one of the handles with just one hand. The cable is longer than the cheap nameless clone I got with the system and feels high quality. The connector slides in and out without forcing it unlike the aforementioned nameless clone. Seeing as these compete with first party hardware and any official N64 controllers are all going to be used, these are clearly the controllers to get.

The Z buttons on the back didn’t fit my finger too well. They were in the middle of my pointers, however not really a big deal. Over all buttons felt great, cord length was a bonus, color is spot on to my original N64 controller. The joystick is buttery smooth, but be careful you don’t push to hard when rotating as it will make a groove in the stick itself. Main reason I bought this controller was for the stick and I am not disappointed! Only minus one star on comfort for the Z buttons.

I’ve had my N64 since the day it was launched. While I hoped my original controller would last, the analog stick finally began having issues. I tried a few different brands, but they all felt cheap and the analog sticks were poor quality. Enter the Tribute 64 from Retro-Bit. Excellent build and redesigned ergonomics make this the N64 controller to have. The analog sticks is actually better than the original N64 controller. It has better response and feels much smoother. You’re not going to find a better product for this price.

The Retro-Bit Tribute 64 is a faithful homage to the Hori Minipad that is currently outrageously expensive online. The analog stick is akin to a Gamecube controller, and the buttons click as well as they should. It is quite a small controller, so it may put some users off if you have big hands. My only real gripe is that the D-Pad is too close to the face buttons. This was the same on the original Hori controller, but I kind of wished they changed this. If you play games that heavily use the analog stick, this a great controller. If you play games that rely on the D-Pad, it is still good, but you may prefer the official controller due its odd placement.

Found this looking for some used N64 controllers, and figured I'd give it a shot. So far, I have not been disappointed. Analog Stick: Full fidelity in every direction with the same sensitivity as an N64, and all the thumb grip you could like. This was the one thing I was really worried about. Previous 3rd party controller's I've purchased (I did not keep them) could only do Up, Down, Left, Right and you were either at a stop, or moving at full speed. No such worries here. Layout: Everything is easy to reach and makes sense, no issues. within a day, I had it memorized and going full ham in Mario 64. Ergonomics: Pretty good, I don't feel like my hand is jammed up against anything. Honestly, you can hold it by cupping your palms loosely around the outside sticks, you don't really even need to "grip" it. Overall, very comfortable. Longevity: I've only had it a week, and it's really only seen one weekend of semi hardcore gaming time. All I can say it at least doesn't immediately die. If I remember in 6 months or a year, I'll come back and let you know.

First of all, I don't have a Brawler 64 so I can't compare it - this one is substantially cheaper though. The original N64 controller is pretty divisive, but in my opinion this Retro-Bit controller is better in most ways. +Outstanding price +The analog stick feels *GREAT.* . It is indeed more sensitive than the original stick, but not so much that it negatively affects the experience. I can line up shots perfectly in Goldeneye. +The cord is long +/- the dpad feels great and the central location is fine for most games, but you are going to want to stick with the original pad for fighting games. +/- The buttons feel fine - they are a bit clickier than the originals, but they work fine. For Mortal Kombat Trilogy's button layout, the original controller is the better option. +/- There is a z-button on both sides, and it's on the bottom. It works, but your fingers want to gravitate to it instead of the normal shoulder buttons. It took me a minute to get used to that in Goldeneye

Great controller and works really well. However, it is a bit too small for me. My hands are about average size, maybe a BIT bigger, and the controller just feels too small. still definitely more comfortable than the original for me.

I needed a replacement for my original N64 controllers and had given up my search for finding an original controller with a really good analog stick. I had no trouble finding original controllers that were decent but nothing spectacular or even really good. This controller to me plays darn near as good as the original and plays GoldenEye like a champ! I think this is going to be as good as you can get at this price range.

I really love this design and how it fits into my smaller hands. All the buttons and joystick work and feel great and I love the funtastic color options. Blue is my favorite. I also recently picked up a Brawler 64 controller by retro fighters which is a great option in its own right, however I have made the Retro-Bit 64 my go to. I just like the design better....it’s like it has more mojo or something. Unless your really like the more modern design of the Brawler 64 I would recommend trying the Tribute 64. It’s a great value.

This replacement controller has a true analog stick and I prefer how this controller feels compared to the original! It looks odd in the pictures (because you're used to what an N64 controller looks like) but after reading other reviews I wanted to try it out. Everything feels so much better. All the controls can be reached easily. No stretching or bending in a weird way to press a button. I played a few levels of Goldeneye 007 and I had zero trouble aiming with the sniper rifle. The cheaper controllers have digital sticks that you just can't play 007 with. These are excellent replacements I would recommend to anyone.
